Dope Singer Denies Fronting Static X
Dope front-man Edsel Dope, in the midst of a flurry of online speculation, has broken his silence to address the claims of photographic evidence attempting to prove his role as the masked vocalist, named Xer0, on the current Static-X Wisconsin Death Trip 20th Anniversary Tour / Memorial for Wayne Static.
"Hello world.
"I have quietly sat through all of this speculation and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Yesterday’s internet eruption reminded me of an episode of Scooby-Doo. It’s incredible how far some people will go to get attention or clicks, so let me remind you how easy it is to slap a little tribal neck tattoo onto someone in photoshop.
"I’m honored for myself and for my band DOPE to be part of this 20th anniversary celebration, along with this unbelievable, traveling memorial to our old friend Wayne Static. Wayne is currently on the minds and in the hearts of the metal community in a very unique and special way. His memory / legacy is more celebrated than it has ever been before. I personally get to see the joy, the tears, and the incredible sense of healing that is occurring on the faces and in the hearts of Static-X fans, each and every night, around the world.
"I’m not attempting to be a spokesperson for Static-X, but I will share that I have personally met Wayne’s parents and siblings, as they have attended a number of these shows. I have personally seen their tears of joy and their expressions of gratitude and approval for the way that Tony, Ken, Koichi, & Xer0 are celebrating the music and memorializing the life and legacy of their son and sibling, Wayne Wells Static.
"I’m including a candid photo that I snapped of Static-X drummer Ken Jay embracing Wayne’s father, while Tony Campos, Wayne’s mother, Wayne’s siblings and friends share some personal time together. Words cannot express the love and respect that I’ve experienced out here. More...

Statement Issued About Tera Wray's Death
Yesterday it was reported that Tera Wray - the widow of Static-X front man Wayne Static - had passed away from suspected suicide. Today the admin of the Wayne Static Facebook page issued this statement about the situation:
Love conquered all on the evening of Wednesday, January 13, 2016. After 14 months of separation by death, Tera Wray Static took fate into her own hands, and ended her life to be with the man she loved. So it is with heavy hearts we confirm her suicide. Her body was discovered by a friend whom she had been living with temporarily. The exact cause of death has yet to be released by the coroner's office, but a drug overdose has been ruled out.
Tera suffered from depression since the death of her husband, Wayne Static of Static-X, who passed on November 1, 2014. Close friends of the couple had this to say: "We are deeply saddened over the news, but feel a peace that she is together with her husband. The undeniable bond they had from the moment they met throughout their remaining years was an intense, true love that only few experience."
Tera was deeply loved by her friends and family, and we politely ask that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.
Wayne Static passed away in November of 2014, with the official cause of death on the coronoer's report listed as "mixed prescription drug (oxycodone, hydromorphone, alprazolam) with alcohol toxicity, hours, due to chronic prescription drug and alcohol abuse, years."

This week, we showcase the songs “Left For Dead” and “3 Ring” by Louisville, KY rapcore outfit Corprit Convict, which co-hosts Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) and Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) chalk up to a politically charged, raw, low-budget incarnation of Otep. Then Mike plugs the new album “As The World Burns” from Pitch Black Forecast, an underground side project of vocalist Jason “J-Mann” Popson (Mushroomhead) and drummer Gene Hoglan (Testament, etc.). The album contains guest appearances from Devin Townsend, Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God), and M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold), and is out now on Ferocious Records.
The big news of the week is, of course, the untimely death of industrial metal entertainer Wayne Static (ex-Static-X) last Saturday, November 1st. Stay tuned for a full round of discussion not only on the circumstances of Static’s passing, but on his career and musical legacy as well.

Tera Wray Comments On Wayne Static's Death
Three days ago Wayne Static's publicist issued a brief statement indicating Static's cause of death was not drug related. The following is an additional response from Tera Wray Static to friends and fans:
"Today is my husband’s birthday and instead of celebrating his 49th year of life, we are grieving his short 48 years. It has come to my attention that many have questions and opinions about the cause of the death of my husband in which I now find is necessary to further respond.
"Wayne was not taking drugs, if anything he was a drinker, and did not OD. The autopsy will be done by this weekend at the soonest, however for some of the test results it will take up to 6 months to get the actual death certificate finalized. I hope that the results I am given will have some insight, but they told me what I will receive this weekend will be deemed incomplete until all tests are back.
"We can all have opinions as to why – We all know that both Wayne and I had abused narcotics with alcohol in the past, which I am sure took a toll on his body, heart and soul. We were packing to travel on tour and were to leave that night, but it was Halloween and we decided to leave in the morning with our animals. I wish we had traveled that night then maybe had he fallen ill we could have gotten to the hospital. I will never know.
"I find it disrespectful to our families and myself for negative spins that are being posted. For Wayne’s music peers to take it upon themselves to make comment about us, when they are not part of our daily lives or know us outside of tour and music, just to grab a headline to get themselves at the top of the gossip page is disgusting. This is not about you or what you feel is your expert opinion on people you have no relationship with, so shame on you – Do not act like we liked your band either. Wayne was a good soul and he is gone – That is what we do know. Please show some respect to him and his memory - We thank all that have left kind and positive messages in support of this terrible time - I am sure Wayne misses you too."
Update Issued On Wayne Static's Death
After it was announced yesterday that Wayne Static had passed away, rumors began circulating the cause of death was drug related. Today the following press release was issued by Wayne Static's publicist regarding the situation:
"Today is a sad day in the music industry – Front-man and founding member Wayne Static of Static-X passed away quietly in his sleep at his home last night.
"The couple was getting ready to leave for a Fall/Winter tour this morning. They were to have left the night before on Halloween, but decided they would head out early in the morning November 1st.
"The couple, known for partying heavy, had left hard drugs in 2009 and had not touched them since. Static’s first solo album – Pighammer - was a tribute to his new non-drug life and hoped it would help others to get clean from hard chemical drugs.
"More official information about his passing will be released in the following days. This is not a drug related incident or an O. D. Please be courteous to his family and wife and leave positive messages."

Wayne Static Dies
Update: although no cause of death has been released, Wayne Static's publicist has now issued a statement available here stating drugs were not involved.
Sources close to Wayne Richard Wells, a.k.a. Wayne Static, former mastermind of California industrial metal crew Static-X, have confirmed that the guitarist/vocalist has died at the age of 48.
Details are still sketchy, but inside sources indicate the death may have been drug-related. Micah Electric, drummer of Hollywood-based industrial rockers 9Electric, issued the following via social media:

"So glad to have known him, recorded with him, toured with him, partied with him and had MANY real conversations with him. He was a good soul who chose the wrong path.
"He will be missed."
Static-X released six studio albums through Warner Bros. Records over the ten-year span of 1999-2009. After formally disbanding the group, Static launched a solo career in a similar musical vein and released the debut album "Pighammer" in 2011.

"The Pighammer concept conjures up bizarre images. It’s about a mad plastic surgeon, with a pig fetish, that likes to convert hot chicks into pigs. It is the total opposite if what a plastic surgeon would do. He has this crazy hammer device made from a pig foot. The images of the surgery in the CD package are only a dark comedic visualization of the real theme of the album, which is my transformation."
