Why did he feel the need to go solo to do this? I mean Static X is HIS band and this sounds like something you'd hear on a Static X album. I don't get it???

meh, static-x is a decent live band, but a solo project should be something different and this just sounds like another static-x song.

If I ever get to where this guy is, when I break away and go solo I'm gonna jump into a different sub-genre. Like this dude was doing industrial type stuff, so if I were him I'd get into thrash or death or something. Actually mix it up.

^^^ or do some aggroTech stuff similar to combiChrist or something.
