Becoming The Archetype Releases New Video
Becoming the Archetype is excited to share a new music video for “The Time Bender.” The video - debuting via Metal Injection - comes less than a week before the release of the band’s fifth album, "I AM" - set to drop in stores and online September 18th from Solid State Records.
“The video is consistent with the look and feel of the photos for this album,” explains Archetype mastermind Seth Hecox. ”Both are dark, grimy, inner-city. I was really drawn to the atmosphere created in Sin City, and that vibe worked perfectly with the sound that was captured on I AM.”
Watch the video right here or in the player below. “Our good friend David Prindle directed the video,” adds Hecox. “He completely understood the vision I had for it and, luckily, he is a true artist and came through with lots of great details that I’d never dreamed of. He made it a truly graphic novel style video. People will love the video because it's fun, it's funny and you can tell we care about making unique, quality art. We hope everyone catches on to all the subtleties of names and character traits!”
“I AM is 100% head banging riffs,” Hecox says. “Gone are the sitars and horns of Celestial Completion. Instead, we've crafted an album full of the heaviest and most technical songs we've ever written.” More...
Becoming The Archetype Posts New Song
Just weeks away from the release of fifth album, "I Am," Becoming the Archetype is pleased to share another new track, “The Planet Maker,” exclusively via MetalSucks. Check out the song at this location.
New album "I Am" hits stores September 18th from longtime label Solid State Records. “‘The Planet Maker’ is our most proggy song on the record,” explains band nucleus Seth Hecox. “It reflects our love of progressive rock/metal and good, original songwriting. The song includes screaming and singing. It's our most marketable singing on the record and the melody is in a style that is slightly new for BTA.”
“There are also some killer solos on this song, satiating the guitar nerds and the girls that require guitar gods to inhabit the bands that they unconditionally love,” Hecox deadpans. “To match the lyrics and concept of ‘The Planet Maker,’ there are some spacey elements to the music. The riffs harken to a sci-fi interest and feeling of new beginnings of a metaphysical nature.” More...
Becoming The Archetype Announces "I Am" Details
Atlanta, Georgia's Becoming the Archetype is returning with "I Am," due to drop September 18th on longtime label Solid State Records. Becoming the Archetype's publicist issued the following press release about the album:
"The band’s fifth full-length is baffling first and foremost because it’s not meant to be baffling. As guitarist, mastermind and band nucleus Seth Hecox explains, the album is less about reinventing heavy music than it is reinventing Becoming the Archetype. That’s not to say listeners won’t find the band doing its usual mind-warping and genre-bending, but the point of this album wasn’t to transcend the artform of metal music, it was to master it."
“I Am is 100% head banging riffs,” Hecox says. “Gone are the sitars and horns of Celestial Completion. Instead, we've crafted an album full of the heaviest and most technical songs we've ever written.”
Hecox and the Archetype boys are inviting fans to sample the new track “The Time Bender.” The catch? Listeners will have to settle for only a taste at first, but can unlock the remainder of the song by spreading the word for others to listen. Listen to help unlock "The Time Bender" at this location. Becoming The Archetype To Release Remix EP
After the release of "Celestial Completion," Atlanta, Georgia's Becoming the Archetype will be releasing a digital only remix EP titled "Celestial Progression," which is due out on April 17th via Solid State Records. The following press release was issued about the EP:
"Crafted by Nashville electronica collective Born of Water and Chicago producer Giant Robot (who also contributed sitar to Celestial Completion), the six-song EP finds Becoming the Archetype once again defying expectations and stretching the boundaries of metal music with a challenging and rewarding set of remixes that range from adrenaline-pumping to industrial to atmospheric."
You can listen to the song "Breathing Liquid (Born of Water Remix)" at the Becoming the Archetype Facebook profile here.
"I've been a fan of good remixes of heavy music for a long time," says Becoming The Archetype guitarist Seth Hecox. "The great thing is that I told these guys to make the songs their own thing, and that's exactly what they did. Each remix sounds like its own song and each remix is very exciting to listen to, bringing out a different emotion."
"I've fallen in love with these six tracks and I know everyone who buys this album will too," Hecox adds. "Any fan of Celestial Completion is going to be blown away and adore what these remixes bring out of their originals." More...
