Brainstorm Releases "Boys Of Summer" Cover
Still riding on the wave of success caused by their 2025 album "Plague Of Rats" (February 28, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music; DE #13, SE #13, AT #41, CH #42, GR #50), Southern German heavy/power metallers Brainstorm use the final weeks of the warm season by having a creative stopover at the beach on their way back from the myth-enshrouded Indus world. Today, they present nothing but a metalled-up take on Don Henley’s classic track "The Boys Of Summer" to their fans.
The track was recorded during Brainstorm's "Plague Of Rats" sessions in 2024, and the timing of its release couldn’t be more fitting as the group have entered the final stages of this year's festival season.
Vocalist Andy B. Franck adds: "Even though ‘The Boys Of Summer’ deals with rather nostalgic themes of ‘summer love’ and the memory of a past relationship, for me - at the time a 13-year-old - it was, beyond the metal anthems of the 80s, a great song that I associated with summer, girls and the corresponding feeling for many, many years. Don Hanley and the Eagles are simply awe-inspiring. Even today, this song still evokes great memories for me, and since it’s also a song about questioning the past, this track fits perfectly into our times. I’m proud that we recorded it, and maybe it will be part of a show soon. People will love it and then share memories with this, our version!"
But the metal world doesn’t have to worry - the band are far from resting on their latest laurels: Behind the curtain, Brainstorm have been working on extending their 2025/2026 "Plague Of Rats" touring cycle, and the announcement of more live dates following their confirmation for the next edition of Summer Breeze Open Air (Dinkelsbühl, Germany) is really just a matter of time… Stay tuned! Brainstorm Signs With RPM; Announces New Album
Power metal fans, get ready! Southern Germany's powerhouse, Brainstorm, are gearing up to unleash their new album "Plague Of Rats," and it's set to blow your minds and rock your ears! Created alongside their trusted team -- Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann for mixing and mastering at Greenman Studios, Gyula Havancsák on artwork, and Alex Kühr on photography -- this album delivers ten epic new tracks that will transport fans to the captivating world of India and beyond.
Singer Andy B. Franck explains: "The history of India dates back to 5,000 years and the Indus civilization is one of the oldest in the entire world. With 'Maharaja Palace' ('Ambiguity') but especially our breakthrough with the album 'Soul Temptation,' it was important to me to bring my penchant for this history and culture into our music. I think it just fits well with the sound of Brainstorm. I love the sound and harmonies in the Indian music and I think it was about time to delve into history again and to bring this very special shine into our music."
He adds: "'Plague Of Rats' is more 'in your face' and very direct. I think it fits perfectly into our times and reflects the mood of the band: it's very aggressive and energetic - attack!" More...

Brainstorm Details "Scary Creatures"
Following up on the success of 2014’s “Firesoul” album, German power metallers Brainstorm didn’t waste any time to enter the studio and record a brand new masterpiece which is titled “Scary Creatures,” which will hit the stores on January 15th, 2016 via AFM Records. The album will be available as a standard CD, limited digipak (with bonus track), Limited Box Set (incl. statue and Digipak) and Limited Colored Vinyl (500 units in golden vinyl).
The band continues where "Firesoul" left off one and a half years ago. Mix and mastering was once again handled by Achim Koehler. But right away you feel that "Scary Creatures" is just that notch better than "Firesoul," more anthemic, heavy and all musicians plus vocalist Andy B. Franck delivering to the max. Starting with the infectious opening track "The World To See" (which will also be the album’s first single and video clip), Brainstorm once again prove why they are one of the most popular and respected metal acts in the European scene. The band will embark on European tour in February 2016, followed by many festivals around the world in the Summer.
Vocalist Andy B. Franck states: "'Scary Creatures' is a very emotional, an almost personal, album. All songs reflect the events and feelings of the past months, which made the music incredibly intense. To me, 'Scary Creatures' is the logical successor to 2014's 'Firesoul' and perfectly bridges to Brainstorm 2016. Also for the first time we achieved that many of the band members' children were integrated into several songs. It's another reason why the new album is very valuable and unique to us. Add to this the rough lyrical concept dealing with several atrocities all over the world in the past centuries, 'Scary Creatures' turned out to become an impressive metal album we all are proud of."
The track list is:
1. The World To See
2. How Much Can You Take
3. We Are...
4. Where Angels Dream
5. Scary Creatures
6. Twisted Ways
7. Caressed By The Blackness
8. Scars In Your Eyes
9. Take Me To The Never
10. Sky Among The Clouds
11. Lift Your Eyes To See (Bonus track - Limited Digipak)
+ Bonus Live DVD
(incl. "The World To See" video clip & Live concert Essen 2014 (performing the entire 'Firesoul' album plus many more songs) More...
