Guns N Roses Drummer Takes A Break
There's been another change in the Guns n' Roses line-up. Drummer Frank Ferrer has temporarily replaced GNR Brian Mantia. Mantia is taking a break to spend time with his wife and newly born baby.
Papa Roach Comment On Touring w/ GNR
Papa Roach are in the final days of their opening slot on the Guns N' Roses tour, and according to frontman Jacoby Shaddix, it's been one hell of a ride.
"Every day our set time changes, depending on when Axl [Rose] wants to show up to the gig," he tells AOL Music. The band, he says, don't mind: "It's like, f*** it. It's an opportunity to play."
They've enjoyed the opportunity to promote their new album, 'The Paramour Sessions,' to the GN'R masses. "You've got some really, really young kids, like 15, all the way up to people in their fifties, so it's a very diverse audience," Shaddix says. "Really, it's just a rock n' roll crowd, and they want to rock. We're the underdogs on this show. We have to get up there and bring the raucous. We turn it out every night."
With four major-label efforts under their belts, the band has been surprising the arena crowds. "We've had [about] seven singles under our belt now, and we're bringing them out throughout the set," Shaddix says. "By the end of the set, we've got them in a hot frenzy."
Papa Roach have also picked up a few tips from Axl and company: "What I've learned is to show up on time," the frontman laughs.
GNR Show Canceled Due To Poor Ticket Sales?
According to a Guns N' Roses management spokesperson the bands show in Portland, ME two nights ago on November 6th, was canceled due to "limitations imposed by local fire marshals" which "made it impossible for the band to perform their show to usual high standards that their fans deserve". A somewhat believable excuse until WGME-TV reported the show was canceled after only 3,000 of the 6,500 tickets were sold.
Axl was reportedly "very unhappy" that he could not perform.
Sebastian Bach Comments On Chinese Democracy
The new Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, has received the seal of approval from former Skid Row man Sebastian Bach. And he knows a thing or two 'bout The Rock.
The long-awaited album, which must've been started back when Axl Rose looked like that, is out next month. Apparently. Bach heard the record from start to finish at Rose's mansion in Malibu.
"It's fucking epic," said Bach. "It was mind-blowing. It's a very cool album - it's badass with killer screams and killer guitar riffs, but it's got a totally modern sound.
"There's this one song called 'Sorry', that's almost like doom metal with Axl singing really clean over this grinding, slow beat that is fucking mean. I cannot get it out of my head."
The unofficial, not-yet-confirmed release date for Chinese Democracy is November 21.
Sebastian Bach Comments On Opening For GNR
Wherever Guns N' Roses have played thus far in 2006, former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach has likely been there, either opening for GN'R or joining Axl Rose onstage for the duet 'My Michelle.'
For Bach, it's a return engagement: Skid Row opened for GN'R on their 'Use Your Illusion' tour in 1991. Though Bach is grateful for the opportunities, he admits he doesn't know quite how it happened.
"To be totally honest with you, I don't understand why Axl is so nice to me," Bach tells AOL Music. "I don't know why he just waves his magic wand and points it at me and says, 'You're opening for me all around the world.' To me, it's crazy."
Bach, who will release a new album, 'Angel Down,' in 2007, isn't arguing. "I'm going with it," he says. "It's always been that way for me. It's going to make a good book someday. I see all these rock 'n' roll books and they're all killer, but I laugh. I go, 'Wait 'til you f***ing read my book! My book is going to make [the Motley Crue book] 'The Dirt' look clean,'" he says, laughing.
Sebastian Bach To Support Guns N Roses On Tour
SEBASTIAN BACH will hit the road with Guns N' Roses on their "Chinese Democracy" tour beginning October 20 at the Vets Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL (see below for full itinerary).
"We are so excited to be going on tour with Guns N' Roses," said Bach. "I have waited for the perfect opportunity to tour North America again, and this is absolutely the greatest tour any of us could ever imagine being on. It has been over ten years since I have screamed in a lot of these arenas, and there are many places on this tour I have dreamed of playing but never have...until now - Madison Square Garden, Air Canada Center, The Palace of Auburn Hills are just some of the hallowed halls I get to rock in on this tour."
Bach's connections with Guns N' Roses is tight. The vocalist opened a number of GN'R European and U.S. Dates this past summer, and, over the course of the tour, joined Axl Rose onstage several times for a duet of "My Michelle." Bach's previous band, Skid Row, opened GN'R's "Use your Illusion" tour in 1991.
For the past three years, Bach's band has consisted of Metal Mike Chlasciak/guitar, Bobby Jarzombek/drums, Steve DiGiorgio/bass, and Johnny Chromatic/guitar.
In September, Bach returned to Australia for two concerts - his first time there since 1993 - and also became only the second rock/metal band ever to perform in China (Deep Purple was the first) when he played the Beijing Pop Festival.
In addition to touring the world, Bach has been busy developing a television career and working on a new album. Teaming up with producer Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Judas Priest), Bach recently completed recording "Angel Down," which is due out next year and his first solo CD since 1999's "Bring 'Em Bach Alive," and first release since 2004's "Forever Wild" DVD. The singer recently split from Artemis Records and is currently considering several label offers.
Bach recently shot three episodes of the popular Canadian mockumentary TV series "Trailer Park Boys," guesting as a model railroad enthusiast. Over the summer, he starred with Ted Nugent, Jason Bonham, Scott Ian and Even Seinfeld on VH-1's number one-rated reality show, "Supergroup." On September 28, he performed "18 and Life" with contestant Hal Sparks on the season finale of Fox's "Celebrity Duets." In addition, Bach is now in his fourth season playing the role of Gil, the guitarist in Lane Kim's band on the popular CW series, "Gilmore Girls."
Sebastian Bach has also appeared on Broadway several times ("Rocky Horror Show," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Jekyll & Hyde"). He hosted the VH-1 series "Forever Wild," and he and his family were featured on VH-1's "I Married...Sebastian Bach."

"Chinese Democracy" To Be Released November 21?
RollingStone.com is reporting with a fair bit of skepticism that the extremely long-awaited Guns N' Roses album 'Chinese Democracy' has gotten a firm release date of November 21st at one retail source. Whether that turns out to be the actual release date remains to be seen, however, as it's not unheard of for retail chains to publish an estimated (or shot in the dark) release date on an item, especially as holiday shopping season begins.
Papa Roach To Tour w/ GNR, Headline Zippo Tour
LiveDaily.com report: Papa Roach ratchets up its support for its recently released album, "The Paramour Sessions," by opening a stretch of shows for resurgent rockers Guns N' Roses, and following that stint with a run atop the Zippo Hot Tour roster.
The Sacramento-based quartet, which is currently tackling a European tour, will link up with GN'R for that group's Oct. 20 tour kick-off in Jacksonville, FL, and will remain on board through the outing's Nov. 3 stop in Huntington, WV.
A short break follows before the band returns to the stage for the Nov. 11 launch of the Zippo Hot Tour, dates for which currently span a two-week stretch; details are shown below. Sponsored by Zippo Manufacturing Company, the tour's lineup will also feature the winner of an in-progress battle of the bands that Zippo has been conducting throughout the year.
"We are stoked to be headlining this year's Zippo Hot Tour," Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix said in statement. "When Zippo approached us about this opportunity we couldn't say no. Supporting local music scenes has always been a priority for us, and the fact that the Zippo Hot Tour gives a young local band an opportunity to have a career in the music business is amazing."
More information about the Zippo Tour--including details about the bands vying for the opening slot--is available at the tour's official website.
Capping off Papa Roach's current itinerary is a Dec. 8 hometown performance at Sacramento radio station KWOD's Twisted Xmas concert. Details about that gig, which will also include performances from My Chemical Romance and Gnarls Barkley, are available at KWOD's website.
Last month, Papa Roach offered up "The Paramour Sessions." The disc, which is the band's fifth full-length album, features the lead-off single "To Be Loved," the music video for which is streaming at the band's website.

Axl Rose Explains "Chinese Democracy" Delays
News In a brief interview with New York magazine backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose explained what's been holding up the release of the oft-delayed 'Chinese Democracy', an album he's spent more than a decade working on. "It's not about being a control freak," he said. "It's about being maybe smart enough to go, 'No, that's a bad idea.' That's all it's about keeping the ability to at least have a shot as opposed to something that's just an obvious disaster. I want to make a good record. I don't want to throw a brick. This cannot be Shaq at the free-throw line." Rose added that the disc will surface before the end of 2006.

Judge Sides w/ Original Supernova On Name Issue
MTV.com reports that according to a Tuesday, September 12 ruling by San Diego Judge John Houston, the producers of CBS' "Rock Star" are going to have to come up with an alternate name for Supernova, the band made up of Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee, Voivod's Jason Newsted and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.
Last month, the original Supernova — an Orange County, California, punk trio — filed for a preliminary injunction in San Diego's U.S. District Court against CBS Broadcasting, Mark Burnett Productions and Lee, Newsted and Clarke, who are starring in the second season of the reality show. The injunction sought to halt the television-contrived act from performing or recording under the name "Supernova" if the band fails to change or add any words to the moniker.
Lee, Newsted and Clarke were dropped as defendants late last month at the request of the original Supernova's lawyers.
Earlier Tuesday, Houston granted the request from the members of the original Supernova — bassist Art Mitchell, drummer Dave Collins and guitarist Jodey Lawrence — for the preliminary injunction. The injunction keeps the producers of "Rock Star: Supernova" — which concludes Wednesday night — from "performing rock and roll music, or recording, or selling rock and roll music recordings under the same [name], pending a trial of this action on its merits, or until otherwise ordered by the court."

Guns N' Roses Add New US Tour Dates
LiveDaily.com repots: Guns N' Roses have added a pair of new cities to their growing itinerary, doubling the number of stops on their upcoming North American tour plans.
New to the group's schedule is a Sept. 27 appearance at Fresno, CA's Save Mart Center and an Oct. 2 show at Sacramento's ARCO Arena. Tickets for both shows are scheduled to go on sale Saturday (8/26). Previously, the band announced concert plans for San Francisco and Las Vegas.
GN'R's most recent major US tour was in 2002. That troubled outing was cut short with more than a dozen shows remaining on its schedule, after frontman Axl Rose failed to show up for two gigs.
Guns N' Roses recently wrapped up a European tour that was fairly uneventful by Rose's standards. However, Rose was arrested following his band's Stockholm, Sweden, stop for allegedly scuffling with a security guard and busting up a hotel lobby; the singer also fell ill near the end of the European tour's final show at London's Wembley Arena. (Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach took over to finish out the set.)
Rose is the only remaining original member of GN'R. The group is currently rounded out by keyboardist Dizzy Reed, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardist Chris Pitman, drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, and guitarists Robin Finck, Richard Fortus and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.
The band has been working the road in advance of its supposedly soon-to-be-released album, "Chinese Democracy." The disc, which has been in the pipeline for about a decade, and the release of which has been delayed repeatedly over the years, will be the group's first collection of original material since the early '90s. No specific release date has been announced.
Guns N' Roses tour dates:
September 2006
16, 17 - Las Vegas, NV - Hard Rock Hotel (on sale now)
20, 21 - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield (on sale now)
27 - Fresno, CA - Save Mart Center (on sale 8/26)
October 2006

The Beatles Go Metal?
On October 24, 2006, Restless Records will release "Butchering The Beatles" — featuring the biggest, the baddest, the heaviest all-star line-up ever assembled to honor what is arguably the greatest band ever — THE BEATLES. All-in-all, over 50 internationally known recording artists bring their unique bone-crushing slant to these remarkable songs. Produced by Grammy award-winning producer/guitarist Bob Kulick and ace engineer Brett Chassen, "Butchering The Beatles" features 12 new, ass-kicking versions of THE BEATLES' chart-topping hits, including "Hey Jude", "I Feel Fine" and "Day Tripper", plus the more esoteric "Hey Bulldog", barked out by the legendary Alice Cooper and "Tomorrow Never Knows", uniquely interpreted by the iconic Billy Idol, alongside classic concept songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Magical Mystery Tour".
When asked by Guitar Player magazine what possessed him to go all metal on THE BEATLES, Bob Kulick stated that, "BEATLES songs are the Holy Grail. They're the best rock songs ever written. These new recordings are totally faithful, yet completely different. Billy Gibbons singing 'Revolution' or (MOTÖRHEAD frontman) Lemmy singing 'Back In The USSR' are not exactly Paul McCartney or John Lennon. And of course, the guitar solo sections were lengthened to accommodate all the artists' solo styles."

Axl Rose Talks With KROQ
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was a guest on the 'Kevin & Bean' show on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ on Friday (August 18). Axl touched upon such topics as the upcoming Inland Invasion show, the recent European tour and the band's current setlist. You can listen to the 10-minute interview here.
GNR Wrap Up Tour, Sebastian Bach Steps In
Guns N' Roses' 32-date European trek concluded over the weekend, and now frontman Axl Rose plans to return to the U.S. for a road trip this fall. "We have had an amazing tour and it has been fantastic for the band and I to experience this," Rose said in a press release. "I approached this last show with equal parts determination, obligation, responsibility and insanity. It was an amazing night. I want to thank everyone in Europe and the U.K. for inspiring us and for giving us the opportunity to play for them. We are now looking forward to the U.S. in September." No U.S. tour dates have been revealed. The final stop on the GN'R European tour, Sunday night's gig at London's Wembley Arena, nearly didn't go off. Rose was diagnosed with low blood pressure and low blood sugar on Sunday morning, and became ill after performing two concerts the night before. A physician advised that the frontman skip the stage that night and be admitted to a hospital instead. Rose responded with a "F--- that — I have a show to do and I am not missing it," the release said. He did make it through much of the band's two-hour set before collapsing. Sebastian Bach took over for Axl to perform the show's encore, "Paradise City."
