Guns N Roses Show Canceled Due To Poor Ticket Sales?
Band Photo: Guns N Roses (?)
According to a Guns N' Roses management spokesperson the bands show in Portland, ME two nights ago on November 6th, was canceled due to "limitations imposed by local fire marshals" which "made it impossible for the band to perform their show to usual high standards that their fans deserve". A somewhat believable excuse until WGME-TV reported the show was canceled after only 3,000 of the 6,500 tickets were sold.
Axl was reportedly "very unhappy" that he could not perform.

Im glad the show got f***ing cancelled. Anyone who actually pays money to go see GnR is gay. Anyone who pays for a GnR CD is gay. Why waste money on something that is a great big steaming pile of sh** when you can just download it. Axl Rose, go f*** yourself in the a$$hole with a rusty f***ing shovel. You ruined everything for GnR when you decided to be in GnR.

HAHAHAHAH!...
sorry, sorry....this is just funny.
.
This would never have happened had GNR remained more or less intact (as in with Slash and Duff)....Not even a fan myself but I respect their angle and impact when they came along.
They were certainly more easy to take seriously that Motley Crue, Skid Row, Poison etc....Of course they paled to Metallica, and the grunge/alt movement made them look like a bloated joke......
....ouch only 3k heads out of 6.5k seats.....weren't they filling stadiums?....
Today is indeed a sad day for self important, reality-blind egotists.

Hey superman.....did you read the last sentence....? If it was that important for him to play the show for "all of his fans" he would have went on without the fireworks......Face it...the guy is a moron and he is realizing now that he punched himself in the nuts by treating his fellow bandmates like sh** all those years ago...
I bet Slash,Duff and all the rest of them are laughing their asses off at him, just like the rest of us..
I wouldnt piss in his mouth if his teeth were on fire....the guy is a waste of organs that could be helping coutless others enjoy purposeful lives...

I just realized something...isnt Papa Roach touring with GnR? SO.....doesnt that mean that between both(as in two)of these bands they could pull in only 3000 fans? If that is true then that makes this story even more hilarious because papa roach is really horrible.

first off, alot of people buy their tickets at the door....and prolly more so in this case since ppl arent sure if axl will show up due to his last U.S. tour...so there was obviously going to be more than just 3,000 people there. Furthermore, its obvious none of you are following the tour considering they were on tour in europe all summer and played to more than 100,000 ppl. at one show. As for this tour, they had 16,000 at continental on november 5 and madison square garden for the tenth was sold out weeks ago. Karma u say? I think for not really doing nething for over 10 years and being the only remaining member besides the keybordist(dizzy), and appearences by Izzy Stradlin on the European tour... i think Axl has proven plenty. And the tickets could be refunded or exchanged for the next tour date so its not like he completely screwed over anybody. As for you "sh**balls", to say that axl ruined gnr by being in gnr...makes no sense. Anyone who knows music knows that axl was the centerpiece, and his voice took the songs to another level. And as for you Chupacabra, you say its pathetic that these two bands, being Guns N Roses and Papa Roach, only sold 3000 tickets. But then you say Papa Roach is "really horrible." So my question is, what point did you make? You say Papa Roach is horrible, but at the same time your assuming that their gonna sell tickets. You're contradicting yourself, so please stop trying to contribute. To add to the ignorance of the other people who are insulting axl, i think it would educate all of u to know that not one of his european shows nor any U.S. show prior to this was cancelled. And to confirm that the reason they did not play was not due to ticket sales, they played a show in north carolina to a half filled stadium. But to assure u that they're ticket sales are doing just fine, they had over 15,000 ppl at their show in Puerto Rico two weeks ago, and they have shows in canada that are already sold out, and this is with virtually no publicity. So karma you say? Maybe all of you should educate yourself before voicing your opinions. Old Guns N Roses was great, New Guns N Roses continues to be great...and whatever band from from the 60s, 70s, 80s, or even early 90s that decides to go on tour, even if they only have one remaining original member will beat the sh** out of any emo, screamo, or punk band of this generation which has contributed nothing to music. Thanks for reading this and learning that you are a complete moron.

vollage and gnr4ever, your both idiots.... do you actually think before you type or do you just have a bad case of brain sh**s? lets address a couple of things, here...first and foremost, GNR4EVER, your rambling like a twelve year old, i don't know, maybe you are, but anyway, find a point, and stick to it instead of stuttering on your keyboard.... VOLLAGE.. now to you...at least i can give you more credit than gnr4ever. you did approach this SOMEWHAT intelligently, but there are flaws in your reasoning.. first..axl hasn't proven sh** except that you can't believe a word he says and that there actually is life after geritol..and as for filling stadiums in europe, who really gives a sh**.. some of those countries are so far behind us that they havn't heard what a f***ed up person axl is yet, and the fact that if you live somewhere that has nothing going on, you take what you can get.. if i lived somewhere that only got one concert a year, i'd go no matter who was playing. i think the tone of how most people feel about axl was very strongly reflected with the topic of this post... no one gives a sh** about gnr anymore, no one gives a sh** about axl anymore, and no one is going to pay to see his stupid facelifted ass. new guns and roses are great...LMAO, are you f***ing kidding me????? HIMMM!!!!

Actually, the rest of the world is much better for music than the commercialised, rehashed, cookie-cutter MTV wh*r*s that the US music scene is mostly made up of right now. There's a lot of bands out of Europe in particular that are more concerned with actual musical talent than an image. That said(and to put this on topic), I haven't heard the stuff Axl is releasing under the GnR nameplate, but I would like to hear the finished product and make up my own mind about it. Yes, he's a conceited pr**k, and yes GnR was a very good band in their prime, but he has had some people with talent working on Chinese Democracy(Buckethead for one). Most of the posts on here, though prove what I've thought for a while-his reputation precedes him and will be a hindrance to anything he tries to do.
24. writes:
in response to what jnsguts put, i'd like to know what flaws in my reasoning you corrected? Your're entire argument was comprised of one bogus theory that people living in europe are so deprived that they only get one concert per year. Not only is this untrue, but you make it seem as if europe was twenty years behind us. They don't know Axl's reputation, they get one concert a year....you make it seem as if the people in Europe are living under a rock or something. And I will tell you what Axl has proven, even though it was clearly outlined in my earlier statement. He has not cancelled any tour dates up until this point on either tour, and he has not walked off or cuased any riots. So it is obvious that he has changed for the better, but ignorant people will assume the worst. And one concert being cancelled due to reasons that can only be assumed does not constitute, Axl being a d***head again. Also, the fact that he is the only remaining original member of a band that hasn't done anything for years, and he, being Axl, can still sell out MSG speaks volumes of his legacy, and how much people really want to see him perform. Yes , jnsguts, you obviously failed to realize he sold out MSG. And just in case you don't know, thats in the U.S. Still under the impression that people don't "give a sh**?" And the tone of these posts in regards to Axl is due to the fact that most gnr fans don't bother with people who know nothing about the new band...or nothing about Europe for that matter. I chose to post simply because i was baffled by how little the people posting all these insults actually know about whats really goin on with axl and the very successful tour they're having. I'm guessing you were under the impression that you were successful in your post, but it is quite clear you made no argument, and i think it would be best if you just bowed down to your superiors.

I thought I was longwinded....
People who talk about GNR in the present tense seem to have forgotten who the band were....There was alot of creativity and hunger in the early works of GNR.
That said, I don't own any of their albums but I had enough friends who loved them to memorize most of the songs between trips to and from school.
It's taken Axl a 1/4 of his lifetime to write this album because he's missing the band's prinicpal songsmiths...Namely Slash and Mckagen and to a lesser degree Stradlin....
Thats why this "GNR" everyone talks of today is a nothing more than a solo endeavor.
The W Axl Rose show.....bleh.

Maybe, instead of the headline reading, "Guns N Roses Show Canceled Due To Poor Ticket Sales?"
Perhaps it should have read "Guns N Roses Show Canceled Due To limitations imposed by local fire marshals?"
After all, it's facts, not speculation, that we want. Right?

to Remember Metal, i own all the albums of the "old gnr" and they have been my favorite band for awhile. With that said i agree he misses their songwriting ability(and stradlin was prolly the most talented songwriter in the group), but i think its taking him so long because he has this desire to bury UYI I and II, the same way he wanted to bury Appetite. He's trying to attain an unreachable goal....with that said, i think that the old band is def. better than the band today. By no means am i trying to say that id take fortus over slash...but the new band is really talented. They have solid new songs, and three amazing guitarists. Even if you don't consider them guns n roses, axl sounds good, and the band is def. meshing well and have a better image an overall appeal now that buckethead is gone... he's amazing, but i can't cheer for someone who asks to record in a chicken coop.

Wow, funny how "no one gives a s*** about Axl f***ing Rose anymore" yet there are a lot of people taking a lot of time and effort to bash him. Maybe nobody does care anymore..... people seem to be more interested in K-fed and britney, or what j-lo, paris, mary-kate & ashley, ashton, or brangelina is doing this week.... you know, the IMPORTANT things that are taking up headlines today.
Anyway, I just read all these posts and just wanted to say a couple of things.... (it's a free country!)
1. Axl Rose was an integral part of one of the biggest rock bands of all time because of his song writing and his voice.
2. Love 'em or hate 'em, they were a major influence on music at the time.
3. Half the fun of going to see Axl perform is the fact that you don't know what he is going to do next.... let alone show up.
4. Because of reasons 1-3, people still want to see Axl perform live.
5. If you don't like the band or Axl.... DON'T LISTEN OR PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THEM!!!!!
Axl has millions of loyal fans (I'm one) who will plunk down money to see him perfrom live, as he is a great performer. If his voice has withstood the test of time like many are saying, (I was scared after I saw the 2002 MTV Awards) then I'm more than happy I bought my ticket to see him in 6 days in Toronto, just like I did in 1992 in Buffalo and in 1994 in Hamilton. So Axl's old now, who cares??? Have you guys complaining that Axl is old found a way to stay 20 yrs old forever?? Entertainers age, and as long as they can still put on a good show, people will go see them (i.e Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, etc.). The guys in The Killers, Fallout Boy, 30 Secs. to Mars, Godsmack and Disturbed will get old someday too, and their fans today will still go see them 15 years from now if they are still around.
The bottom line is go see your favourite band perform live, more power to you. But don't bash me and my taste in music just because yours is different.
32. writes:
Stodds-- no one is bashing you or the fans just for being fans. the discussion is about axl, when someone says that they dont like axl, dont take it personally. and most of the bands' fans that you mentioned will probably grow out of them and the bands will die out (with the exception of godsmack and disturbed).
and about your "Love 'em or hate 'em, they were a major influence on music at the time" comment. the key phrase there is "at the time" because at that time slash, duff and matt were still part of the band. they wrote the songs, axl had a MINIMAL impact in songwriting. obviously this is why its take 15 years to write one album.
i personally will never go to another "gnr/axl" concert in my life because of the fact that the last time i saw them (thats correct, the whole band) the f***er (thats axl) had his d*** stuck too far up his a$$ and he walked off 20 minutes into the show. and thats supposed to be half the fun in seeing them?

sh**Balls writes:

Sounds like bashing for being a fan to me....
Thank you for catching the sarcasm in the comment about todays bands, I appreciate it.
Thank you for agreeing that they were a big musical influence "at the time" when they were most popular because as everyone knows, anyone who's had an influence on music can keep having an influence for more than 20 years.
As for the writing of songs, Axl wrote 95 percent of the lyrics to the Appetite and UYI albums, which is not really all that minimal. Even people who weren't born when Appetite was released know what song "She's got a smile that it seems to me, Reminds me of childhood memories. Where everything was as fresh as a bright blue sky." is.
And lastly, I'm sorry that on the night you went to see them the voices were talking to axl again. I can relate. When I saw them in 1992 in Buffalo, he almost didn't show up at all, which whipped 60,000+ people into a frenzy, once he did go on though, there wasn't one disappointed person in the house. When I saw them in 1994, somebody managed to hit axl in the head with a shoe halfway through the encore (which was still Paradise City) and he simply walked off the stage without saying a word. Problem was Slash, Duff and co. didn't realize what happened and just kept jamming until a stage hand came out and told them what had happened. Rather than just stopping, Duff and Slash sang the rest of Paradise City together. Sure we were all p***ed that Axl left early but it made for one of those concert moments that I know I'll never forget. But I was lucky enough to catch him/them on 2 good nights. Maybe it'll be a third on Wednesday. Personally, I can't wait to find out.
34. writes:
...axl had minimal impact on songwriting? Darksaga, its obvious you do not do your homework. Check out some interviews...he had to force slash and duff to record songs like november rain and patience. And he wrote SCOM and Welcome to the Jungle was based on his life. He basically had the control over the songwriting. Slash even said that most the songs they make, excluding Paradise city, weren't really the stuff he likes playing. Axl had final say in everything, and thats why the bandmates got p***ed off and left. Axl was too controling, but we prolly wouldn't have songs like november rain and patience to enjoy if he wasn't.

"I want to appologize to all of our fans in Maine." "It wasn't Axls fault, it was mine." "This was also the case back in 1989 when a young GNR fan from Chicago, who we'll call Jim, wanted in the worst way to see us preform only to have that prick pull the plug on the f**cking show 30 minutes before hand! "Oh, excuse me, like I said our throat hurt so we couldn't play." Just like the night James Hetfield went up like a tinder box and I could have saved the day singing my heart out, but didn't because I'm just too big a prick to do something like that."
Sincerely,
Axls voice box
36. writes:
Wow, Axls voice box appologized to me for that night back in 1989. Well, I don't accept the appology. I spent tons of cash on GNR cds, and other merch only to have that prick stick it to me and hundreds of other fans throughout the years. Now that I can download the "long awaited" Chineese Democracy cd for free I still won't. There's a reason Velvet plays to sold out shows and "GNR" if you can call them that, plays to barely 3000. Make no mistake, Axl back in the day was the best frontman in the bussiness. Now he's an after thought. People now say, "remember Axl Rose and GNR?" Not realizing that the dude is trying to make a comeback. So Axl if you're reading this, your time has come and gone my friend. Although you may still play to a sold out croud, it'll just be Knots Berry Farm where it's free to get in.

VOLLAGE -
You said 'He has not cancelled any tour dates up until this point on either tour, and he has not walked off or cuased any riots.'
Well... at the download festival in the UK he both walked off AND caused riots. the festival director said 'There were some disturbances in some sections of the campsite on the Sunday evening / Monday morning. About 150 people spoiled the end of what had been a great weekend for over 75,000 of us' but there have been stories of it being alot worse than 'some disturbances'
I love GNR's old music and i will probably listen to chinese democracy when it finally comes out but there really is no point in paying money to see GNR live, you're more than likely going to be let down. he's now just the laughing stock of the metal/rock world and he really should have just quit when the original members left instead of carrying on and trying to keep the GNR torch alight.
In reviews in magazines etc. (from the uk) i have seen that there were at least three shows that GNR have played where they have been late on stage and/or p***ed off the crowd ALOT
39. writes:
No alcohol during the show??? Heavens to forbid! This sure brings back the vile, vivid memories of David Lee Roth; so drunk on stage that he started to sing the wrong song after he forgot verses of another. Poor Eddy out on stage pouring his life out on the guitar trying to give Las Vegas a show. Grow up boyz, IF this is really the case in Portland, Main and you couldn't figure out how to perform for your FANS without a few drinks for 90 minutes or so, I don't even want to go see you in Portland, OR. Aspire to be professional please.

Your qouting one instance out of two tours that been goin back since may, it said nothing about axl causing it, and you failed to mention that axl and the band decided to take a breake so the roadies could fix a part of the stage that axl slipped on. That is why axl walked off. And gnr always came on late in the early 90s, its rock n roll, there are no rules...And i have been reading positive reviews about the concerts since May....Nice try, but you failed.

OK HERE WE GO AGAINE !
1st off I gotta say hat's off to vollage.Unlike a certain somebody else. You can actually make your point without being a teenager about it.I am aware of the thing's you mentioned and your absolutley right. This is the first show that was clearly cancelled on this tour.I do not agree with Axl's reasoneing on it but it is the first and only time on this tour I'm personnally aware of.(stopping a show because you can't drink on stage ?!?)
We are probably never gonna agree on this and that's fine. But I honestly believe that this record would not have taken the better part of a generation to be completed if he did not alienate and ultimatley disband what was left of the original line up.I can understand him fighting to get november rain and other great classic song's on record's.It's happend with every great band.Paul & John,Keith & Mick,Robert & Jimmy,Roger & Pete you name it.(obviously i'm more into the old school so I don't listen to the nonsense that the corporate music industry is force feeding american youth these day's).
My problem is this.Vh1 did a documentary that clearly stated at the end that Axl disbanded the original line-up sometime after the Use Your Illusion Tour and the release of the Spaghetti Insident.Mtv News' Kurt Loder Stated that Slash had been fired from the band & that when he was contacted for comment he was completely unaware of it.He later called back after recieveing a fax from Axl confirmeing what MTV called him about.
It seem's to me that Axl deliberatley tore the band apart just so he could recreate it in his image. That's essentially what GnR has become in it's latest incarnation.I am aware of the new band and everyone in it.Axl has amassed some serious talent. But it seem's people still keep walking away from it (Bucket Head for example). He even attempted to enlist Dave Navarro after Slash was removed and Dave apparently wanted no part of it.
Unlike most of the people who are bashing Axl & contrary to what a certain retard would have you think.I am a fan......Of the original band not so much Axl all by his lonesome.I've stated multiple times"I'll give the new album a try"(assumeing Axl delivers 11/21 is fast approching).I've also stated that I'm not necessarily impressed with Axl's lyric's as of late.So don't expect me to do cart weels down the street over this.Anyway I'm just curious to see what or how you feel about this if at all.
As far as GnR4ever is concerned........All I can say to you is.It takes one to know one.As far as life is concerned.Your actually getting angry over comment's being made concerning someone that you've probably never met(pathetic).Last time someone I know did this it was over Michael Jackson & the guy in question was recently descoverd to be in the closet.
So on that note SHUT UP !!!!!!

I'm just hoping Axel comes through. They were selling tickets today for the SJ show at buy 1 get 1 free. They are $70 a pop which is a little much for what is essentially a cover band but $35 each is an awesome deal! It just goes to show you the pathetic state that fans are in. Hillary Duff came to town and there were people were begging for tickets, Motley Crue comes to town and they played to a practically empty room. GnR's original music is still as amazing today as when it first came out. As long as Axel can get his head out of his a$$ and play some tunes, it should be a great show! BTW If you don't like GnR...what are you doing here?
