How can Vai not be considered a guitar hero..? Yes thats fine he idolizes Jeff Beck....Alot of people idolize Beck...but there are ALOT of fantastic guitarists that are not on this list.... Jimmy Page,Eric Clapton,Pat Travers,Robin Trower,Rik Emmit,Stevie Ray Vaughn,George Lynch,Warren Dimartini, Vivian Cambell,Reb Beach,Nick Bowcott,John Norum and many many others...shall I keep going..? Hell I dont even see the name Hendrix either....
I have been playing guitar since before you probably took your first breath...I think my opinion does matter..... and as psythe pointed out...there isnt even any Pantera on the list and we all know what kind an influence Dime had on most guitar players under the age of 25...

Keep in mind, it might be kind of hard to get rights to some of the bands/songs people are naming. And despite their "metal credibility" Beast and The Harlot, is a more technical song on guitar then Laid to Rest is....which is the reason it comes later in the track-listing.

its not like they are even using the artists song, all the songs on the game are covers made by the harmonix crew. plus sabbath was on the last one and are on this one too, as well as megadeth. i think it is stupid that they have crap bands like wolfmother on here but none of the metal gods like slayer and metallica. not even any zeppelin either.

i looked into this game and believe me its sooooooo f***in gay the songs arnt real its pretty much dance dance revolution but slightly less gay and they have dumbass gay animations of people playin guitar in the backround that are very lame and y the hell wouldnt u just pickup a real guitar and learn , even if u are not good, at least ur playin a real guitar and u actually know how 2 play the real songs.

They put the sh**ty bands on this game just to sell it to the mainstream 8-13 year olds. im surprised that this many metal bands are actually included. the underground certainly isnt their target, mainstream makes the profits. and besides, most metal fans will pick up a real guitar instead of this lazy-wanna-be game.

f*** it where is drum hero where you have to keep pace with Nile or Behemoth or else you start to get an ever increasing electric shock lol.Games are way to f***ing easy these days anyhows besides i'd rather create something on an instrument than copy someone else's work where is the talent in that ?

What I really want to know is... How many actual guitar players are out there, makin comments around this site...? Someone who really knows how to play the instrument..and not the idiots that have one, but its covered in dust cause they couldnt get past the sore fingers stage..?
I have conversed with a few on other forums...but there seems to be ALOT of uninformed dip$hits around here that "think" they know what they are talking about when it comes to "guitar heros"

I watched a kid play this game at Bestbuy a couple days ago. It takes some level of skill and I'm sure it inspires some of the younger ones to actually listen to rock and metal (rather than pop, hip-hop, country etc) and go out and pick up a guitar....I see nothing wrong with this other than lacking another two or three metal oriented tracks.

There are some good bands are on here (STP, Alice in Chains, and a few others) but I wish a game called Guitar Hero would include a few more actual guitar heros.
How about a level where you're booked on a G3 tour and you have to keep up with Satriani, Vai, and Petrucci? Just a thought...

post 30 is dead on,
and post 22, how do you know that? if this is true im pretty excited.
as far as learning to play real guitar, i dont really have time for that, not to mention being able to play guitar, while it is cool and i have much respect for anyone who does, it wont get me anywhere in real life. whereas i can pick up guitar hero and learn to play it well in a week or two and a fun time with a really cool game.

let us also not forget RM? that more often then not a good taste in harder music starts off with rock, grunge and face it some harder "pop" music (evanescence). I myself am of this particular category with my first taste of a harder, or at the time was to me, side of music which included godsmack and drowning pool, which let to shadows fall and lamb of god, which led to heaven shall burn and burn in silence.

Can't deny that Primus rubs me the wrong way too, but Claypool has taken the electric bass in places no sane person would have... I've downloaded a few off iTunes just to learn them but I've never been moved to pick up an entire record of that stuff.
Too silly and redneck.

i've played the original guitar hero and its a really great game to play and makes you feel like your rocking out with the best of them and it does take alot of skill to get good at it...its also a great party game coz i've found the more drunk you get the easier it is to play the game dunno how that works but its great fun to compete with mates and it would get alot more "people" not just kids into rock music even if they start out at the not so heavy stuff and then get into the heavier stuff... The only inprovement would have to be some more metal bands on there
keep it metal \m/
