King Diamond Added to Housecore Horror Film Fest

This November, Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Horror Fest will celebrate its third year of audio and visual bedlam. Set to commence in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater (201 E Commerce St.) on November 13th -15th, 2015, the horror-themed film and metal gala promises to be louder, gorier and more bludgeoning than ever before boasting two film-screening rooms, multiple vendors, special artist signings throughout the weekend and what's morphing into one of the most debilitating lineups of the year!

Already stacked with a crushing bill that includes Agoraphobic Nosebleed performing their second show ever, Corrosion Of Conformity featuring Pepper Keenan, Claudio Simonetti's Goblin doing a live score of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, Superjoint, Eyehategod, Nails, Crowbar, Dropdead, Autopsy, Poison Idea, and so many others, the gatekeepers of Housecore Horror Fest today welcome the additions of thrash metal icons, Exodus, veteran death metal legion, Incantation, apocalyptic hardcore punk unit, Gasmiasma, atmospheric drone doom duo, Muscle And Marrow and theatrical heavy metal legend King Diamond whose performance will feature 1987 quintessential second full-length, Abigail, in its harrowing entirety! As an added bonus, Gwar's fabled Sleazy P. Martini will also be attending the annual gathering as a special guest!

And the awesome won't stop there. The fest has expanded the range of its grotesqueries, with a second stage located just steps away from the Aztec Theater. The Korova, at 107 E. Martin St. in San Antonio, will play host to even MORE bands throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for additional band announcements for The Korova in the coming weeks.

Comments Anselmo: "I am beyond excited to announce that the mighty King Diamond will be attacking the house on Friday the 13th at the Housecore Horror Festival. All hail the King."

Adds Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor, who's shaping this year's HHF lineup alongside Anselmo: "It's been a lot of fun piecing together this lineup with Philip. It's gonna be a wild one, so get your tickets while you still can!" More...

Housecore Horror Festival III Coming

Metal frontman and Housecore Records founder, Philip H. Anselmo, is bringing his horror-themed film and metal festival back for a third year. After a great ride in Austin, the festival will kick off in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater on November 13th -15th, 2015.

The decision to return was driven by the desire to honor his friend and festival co-founder, Corey Mitchell, who tragically passed away last October.

Mitchell was the driving creative force behind the festival's success, and Anselmo believes there is no better way to pay tribute to his friend than to carry on for a third year. "I've got a great team in place to help make this what Corey and I wanted it to be," he says. "There are a lot of mixed emotions here because no one can replace him. But, we know he would want this to continue and so that's what we're going to do. We miss him and think about him every day."

Bands already confirmed to play are Suffocation, Autopsy, Cripple Bastards, Nails, SYk & Dalila Kayros, YOB, Eyehategod, Child Bite, Warbeast and many more to be announced soon. Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor will be booking bands this year and will help Anselmo craft a musical lineup that would make Mitchell proud.

In addition to showcasing the best in extreme metal, the festival will screen film gems from the personal vaults of both Anselmo and Mitchell. Horror filmmakers are encouraged to submit their films and winners will be selected in various categories and given the coveted Rot-Scar Award. "When Corey and I started this thing, it was important to us that we help independent filmmakers get their incredible work discovered," Anselmo continues. "Nothing has changed, in that respect."

Tickets to go on sale soon - stay tuned for additional announcements. More...

Autopsy Premieres Page From New Comic

U.S. death metal outfit Autopsy and MetalSucks.net have teamed up to exclusively launch a page from the band's upcoming digital comic book release, "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" (the page can also be seen below).

Additional details about "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" will be revealed on the E-Comix Twitter account on Wednesday, April 30th.

"If I had to summarize this comic book in a sound bite, it would be to say 'Food tastes better screaming.' There's your visual," President and Publisher of E-Comix, Vince Brusio, told MetalSucks. "Carnage unseen since old school '80s splatter films. This book is brutal because Autopsy is brutal. So consider yourself warned, kids. No apologies. No regrets."

As with the publisher's first title ("Dying Fetus: Supreme Violence"), "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" is full authorized by the band. The comic book tells the tale of college kids who make a terrible mistake: one for which they must suffer, and pay in blood. When they play with stolen property at an impromptu field party, they open a doorway that allows spirits into our material world.

A rescue is planned, but none of this is made known to a rival biker gang that doesn't appreciate their turf trampled on by strangers. Seeking vengeance, the gang approach an old abandoned house to wreak havoc on their party crashers, and learn too late that once the door to Hell is opened, it can't be closed.

Aside from "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral," the iconic death metal band is currently gearing up for the release of its seventh studio album, "Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves," out April 29th on Peaceville. More...

Sunday Old School: Autopsy

In the world of rock and metal music, it’s quite often we see a singer who simultaneously plays guitar, or sometimes bass, but it’s not often we clap eyes on a singing drummer. Phil Collins in Genesis is perhaps the most famous example and Black Sabbath's Bill Ward was able to multitask on the song, "It’s Alright," but collective hats must surely be taken off to anyone who can perform vocals and drums in a death metal band, but that’s just what Chris Reifert did when he formed Autopsy. Reifert formed the band in the summer of 1987 after leaving Death, for whom he performed drums on their classic album, "Scream Bloody Gore," along with guitarist Eric Cutler. The duo recorded their first demo that same year before recruiting a second guitarist, Danny Corrales, who almost immediately recorded a second demo with the band entitled, "Critical Madness."

The demos circulated around the metal scene and eventually reached the offices of Peaceville Records, who offered to sign the band. The group brought in Sadus member Steve DiGiorgio as a session musician and recorded their first full length album, "Severed Survival." The record was somewhat similar to "Scream Bloody Gore," but was nevertheless praised as one of the best death metal albums of its time, with many important bands in the genre such as Cannibal Corpse and Deicide citing the album as an influence. Autopsy Releasing Halloween Comic Book

Bay Area death metal act Autopsy and E-Comix are pleased to announce that Halloween 2012 will be ground zero for the release of "Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral," a fully-authorized comic book.

"Autopsy has driven the hearse to bring death metal to the masses since the late 1980s," said E-Comix President and Publisher, Vince Brusio. "It was a natural fit to fuse their brand of music with a grisly ghost story. So we took the cover image of Severed Survival, expanded on it, and developed a story that takes place on Halloween night. It's pretty gory stuff. As it should be."

Vocalist/drummer for Autopsy, Chris Reifert, commented, "We're damn excited about this, and know it will be a real killer when it's done!"

Fans can now order "Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral" online at this location. Shown the cover and told the plot for the book at the 10th Anniversary Maryland Deathfest, Autopsy gave the green light for the project, which brings to life the band's brand of doom in a ferocious full-color nightmare.
