Ov Sulfur Posts "Befouler" Video Online
Blackened deathcore outfit Ov Sulfur have released the brand new single and music video for "Befouler," featuring Slaughter to Prevail's Alex Terrible. The track is taken from their upcoming debut album "The Burden Ov Faith," due 24th March via Century Media Records.
On the new single, vocalist Ricky Hoover comments:
"Breaking away from our constant blasphemy, 'Befouler' focuses on real-life heretics who say one thing to your face but believe another. They use this false front as a pathetic defence to slowly plot your demise. This type of life became foreign to me in my years away from the music industry, but it seems the more you're in the public eye, the more you face dissenters and weaklings. I've made so many great friends through the industry, but this one is a middle finger to those who are too cowardly to even spit in your face because they only open their mouth while hiding theirs."
Guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson adds:
"This is easily our most energetic song. The technical riffing keeps you banging your head so hard you just might get lightheaded while singing along to the anthemic chorus - shout out to Ricky! By the time you get to the end, you've basically given yourself short-term memory loss and forgotten that Alex Terrible comes in to just bludgeon you to death on the final breakdown. For the video, we went with a tale of revenge that ties our early single and EP artworks to The Burden Ov Faith. Rather than go with the typical animated video, we wanted it to be almost like a moving painting or storybook, complete with hyper-stylised art from the super talented Anastasia Solti. We had our friend Dylan Gould add some extra effects to really make it pulse with the music, and we're very excited to have a unique visual for one of our collective favourite songs from the album!" Suicide Silence Announces "The Cleansing" Tour
One of the most prolific albums in the history of the deathcore genre is easily Suicide Silence's debut offering, "The Cleansing," originally released on September 18th, 2007 and debuting at #94 on the Billboard Top 200 charts.
Suicide Silence will officially commemorate the album's special 10 year anniversary release by embarking on a lengthy North America tour performing the album is its entirety every night. This touring package will feature Upon A Burning Body, Winds of Plague (on select dates), Slaughter To Prevail, and Prison. It kicks off November 7th in Oakland and wraps up December 17th in Hollywood, CA.
Mark Heylmun (guitars) states: "10 fucking years!! 'The Cleansing' was a record we wrote when most of us were in our early 20’s. I was in my teens still! My has the time flown by. All we knew back then was we wanted to offend ppl and piss in the face of the mainstream (Dying Fetus pun intended). We've wanted to do a commemorative tour for this record for years now and the time has come. 'The Cleansing' broke us into the metal world and the record came from a very special place, a fresh place, a place that words fail when I try to describe it, and without it...well we wouldn't be here attempting to describe it.
"Mitch had a vision for this record, he wanted to set a standard for our scene and in my eyes he created much much more. Since his passing, Eddie has payed homage to Mitch's vox on this record every night. It’s something very close to our hearts to have Eddie singing these songs with us. Mitch and Eddie inspired each other, exchanged vocal tips, and both have the passion for the most brutal sounds you can humanly make and it's going to be an amazing show for us and for you. Emotions will be high, maybe we will be high too, you don't want to miss this. Let's fucking party! Come celebrate with us cuz this will only happen once!" More...

The Summer Slaughter Tour At Concord Music Hall
I'll admit that I've been out of the death metal scene for a few years and mostly listening to a lot of already established artists at the expense of new ones. In fact, I haven't been to a Summer Slaughter since 2011. So it was good to see a concert full of artists who I mostly haven't seen yet. Some really impressed me, other didn't. Either way, I wanted to be surprised by hearing artists who I mostly wasn't familiar with.
This year's Summer Slaughter Tour was primarily backed by Sumerian Records (who were also a major backer of Chicago Open Air) as a promotion of Sumerian's upcoming entry into films with American Satan. I'd normally have a problem with the biggest annual heavy metal tour in North America being rendered into a commercial for something completely unrelated but the former bearer of that torch was really just an advertisement for Monster Energy Drink.
