Anvil Shares "Ghost Shadow" Music Video
Heavy Metal pioneers Anvil have announced the release of a brand new studio album, entitled "Impact Is Imminent," due out on May 20, 2022 via AFM Records. The Canadian trio belongs to one of the most distinctive bands of their genre, often cited as having influenced notable metal acts such as Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica or Anthrax. After 40 years in the music industry, touring the world in sold-out venues, and garnering critically acclaim for "Anvil! The Story Of Anvil" – the number #1 music documentary of every metalhead – the iconic band returns with their nineteenth album.
On "Impact Is Imminent," Anvil fires off merciless riff attacks, relentlessly driving drums and impressive bass grooves, complemented by vocal melodies and lyrics that inevitably drill themselves into the listener’s aural tract. As always, Kudlow and founding member and drummer Robb Reiner, are at the epicentre of this heavy metal extravaganza. For the past eight years, they have been supported by bassist Chris Robertson, who not only complements the Anvil fold on a personal level, but also enhances the tracks with his powerful low frequency bass parts and backing vocals.
Today, Anvil shared a first single alongside a music video for the full pedal-to-the-metal anthem "Ghost Shadow!" Says charismatic frontman Lips: "'Ghost Shadow' is my 6th sense telling me I'm being watched! Could be internet trolls or paranormal phenomenon! Either way the song is heavy as fuck!!
"None of our previous albums blends music and lyrics into as tight a unit as ‘Impact Is Imminent’," enthuses Lips on the fourteen songs on the group’s new album. "Everything comes together homogeneously. As a result, the new material sounds monolithic, right down to the very last details, both in terms of rhythm and harmonies. In the past, our studio sessions were sometimes like a little like jumping in at the deep end, with us having to improvise a lot and making decisions at short notice. Working on ‘Impact Is Imminent’, not only was there plenty of time for the songwriting process in the run-up to the recordings, but I also had the leisure to put all my ideas to the acid test and work on them until they were perfect." Anvil Reveals New Album Details
AFM Records are more than excited to announce "Legal At Last" the new insane album from
Canadians Metal heroes Anvil!
"Legal At Last" will be available as digipak, digital, black vinyl and some limited colored vinyl
"Legal At Last" will be out 14th February 2020 via AFM-Records
When it comes to virtues such as endurance, unconditional commitment and a thoroughly down-to-earth attitude, Anvil are the measure of all things. Like few other metal acts, the band surrounding founding members Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow (vocals, guitars) and Robb Reiner (drums), plus bassist Chris Robertson have earned their laurels of blood, sweat and tears. Since their 2009 documentary film The Story Of Anvil, which reveals the unvarnished truth about the music industry, the world has been aware that the day-to-day life of most musicians doesn’t consist of MTV Awards, Grammy ceremonies, red carpets, champagne and caviar but mainly of energy-sapping tours de force with little sleep, junk food and meagre earnings. Yet these difficult conditions have made Anvil what they are today: a band that stands solid as a rock in the turbulent waters of a musical genre that produces like no other music by fans for fans. Anvil Premieres New Music Video
Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil has posted a new music video online for the song, "Bitch In The Box." You can check it out below. The song is available as a digital single and is also featured on the trio's latest studio album, "Pounding The Pavement," which hit the shelves in January of last year through SPV/Steamhammer.
Anvil Announces New Album "Pounding The Pavement"
Legendary Canadian metal act Anvil announced the next installment in three word album titles - "Pounding the Pavement." The album will be released on January 19, 2018 through SPV/Steamhammer as a digipak version (+1 bonus track and poster), 2LP gatefold colored version, digital download and streaming platforms.
Of course there are bands that have garnered higher chart positions, sold more albums and filled bigger venues than Anvil. Yet there are few metal acts that have earned as much respect from colleagues as the Canadian act surrounding vocalist/guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner. The most renowned Anvil aficionados include, among others, international stars such as Metallica and the late Lemmy of Motörhead, who have expressed their unreserved admiration time and again. The reasons for this evident respect are obvious: since 1978, Anvil has been the epitome of a passionate heavy metal band that refuses to be thrown off course by setbacks, adverse conditions and inconsistencies on the business side of things. The latest album "Pounding The Pavement" proves their impressive stamina: never before have Anvil sounded as diverse, determined and inspiring.
Why has "Pounding The Pavement" turned into such an awesome offering? Kudlow's explanation is simple: "The songwriting process started immediately after the work on our previous album, 'Anvil Is Anvil,' had been completed," he says. "So our thoughts instantly turned to the future again. After 'Anvil Is Anvil' had been cut, everybody knew what we had just delivered and what Anvil's future should sound like."
Despite the diverse range of their ideas, Kudlow, Reiner and their bassist Chris Robertson have succeeded in filling the typical trademarks of this unusual band with life once again - which is an important aspect for every Anvil release, after all tradition and reliability play an essential role in this group. Kudlow: "Of course we always allow inspirations from earlier recordings to seep in, but always with an emphasis on evolving the characteristic Anvil sound. Lots of fans keep asking us to play the way we did in the so-called good old days. That's why I try from time to time to pick up on that exciting feel of our older material. Mind you, it's always exclusively about the basic atmosphere of that time, never about copying an older song." More...

Udo Dirkschneider Bids Farewell To Accept
The Islington Academy has hosted many names from the world of metal over the years. From upstarts to legends, many a hard rocker has passed through it's doors. Tonight however, the venue was to host a show like never before, as the iconic heavy metal singer Udo Dirkschneider and his band U.D.O. (using the moniker, Dirkschneider, so as not to confuse concert goers expecting to hear their own songs,) performed a set consisting only of Accept songs, the vast catalogue and classic tunes the singer was bidding farewell to after so many years, perhaps never to be sung by his unmistakable voice again. He was in good company too, bringing along Canadian metal stalwarts Anvil for the ride, as well as British heavy metal outfit, I.C.O.N.
I.C.O.N. opened the show and set the tone for the entire night. This quartet from Burnley play nothing short of vintage of heavy metal with the skill to do it justice where so many have failed, making them the perfect openers for such a tour. With a good stage presence and solid musicianship, the group surely won over those who attended the show early and treated them to some real belters such as "Devil's Blacklist" and "Deconverted" during a set which felt all too short for those of us in the audience. Their album, "The Blacklist" is out now. More...
Anvil Posts New Lyric Video
Today the Canadian metal heroes from Anvil release a new lyric video for the song "Die For A Lie," taken from upcoming studio album "Anvil Is Anvil." Guitar player and singer Lips says about the song:
"Even in modern times mankind has not found peace. We cling to ancient beliefs and wage wars against each other in the names of God. We still have no proof or solid scientific evidence that our beliefs are in fact truth or fact. Killing each other over theories of origin.. .We are still in our infancy as far as civilization is concerned. We are slowly discovering our true factual origins and eventually we will discover the truths.
"A truth that can't be denied is that people have lost the plot of what religion was supposed to be about.... instead of spreading love and understanding we spread hate and ignorance...murdering each other because we believe one God and belief is better than another...when it all is likely bullshit!!!! 'Die for a Lie.'"
Drummer Robb Reiner adds: "'Die For A Lie'... Musically is a perfect Anvil template out of the classic blueprints, fully charged with riffs only found with Anvil, and drum arrangements very unique to Anvil style and sound! Lyrically its suggested for all those who are in belief of handed down broken telephone lines (Religion)....take another look!!!!!" More...
Anvil Releasing New Album
Anvil will release the confidently titled "Anvil is Anvil" on February 26, 2015 via SPV/Steamhammer.
"We're sometimes criticized for never changing," guitarist and vocalist Lips explains. "But why should we change something we're renowned for? Isn't it much more important to stay faithful to yourself? To do what you do best? The idea behind our latest album is: we are what we are, and that's how it's going to stay!"
"Anvil is Anvil" presents Lips, drummer Robb Reiner and new bassist Chris Robertson in a thoroughly magic metal moment. Lips had this to say: "Time will tell whether this album is the absolute pinnacle of our career. But I would already refer to it as 'gaining the momentum.' The year 2013 was a perfect new start for Anvil. We were touring, went on to write the new material, toured again and returned to compose some more. During that time, the new line-up gelled into a real unit. The arrival of Chris was just as significant for us as the film back in 2008. He helped me enormously with my vocal lines, which is why my voice sounds better than ever on stage and also in the studio." More...
Anvil Lanches Pledge Campaign For New Album
Canadian metal legends Anvil has launched a pledge campaign for the successor album to "Hope In Hell" (reviewed here).
The band comments: "After years of having record labels being in between the band and our fans, we’re finally at a point in our history to directly connect.
"We are proud to announce to our fans that they can keep in personal touch with the band and be directly involved in the process of creating the next Anvil album. This will be the first time that we’ve used a crowd-funding approach and we are fully confident in our fans to really pitch in and help.
"Considering that almost anyone aware of Anvil knows our long and sometimes brutal history, we’re hoping you would be honored to help and prove us right in our belief in you…and we promise another top notch Anvil recording that we can enjoy for many years into the future…."
The campaign can be accessed at this location. Perk packages ranging from a signed CD to a private viewing of Robb Reiner's art collection, to one of Steve "Lips" Kudrow's amps can all be had. More...
