Alex Terrible Comments On Bare Knuckle Fight Loss

Slaughter To Prevail frontman Alex Terrible stepped into both the cage and onto the stage for the inaugural “Blood4Blood” event. The show, presented in collaboration with Danny Wimmer Presents and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, was held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, and aimed to merge the worlds of metal and bare knuckle fighting.
Terrible had promised he would both compete in the ring and perform live with his band on the same day—and he delivered on both fronts. Alongside Slaughter To Prevail, the event also featured sets from Black Label Society, Crowbar, and Malevolence.
In his bout, Terrible came up short against Cameron “The Bull” Delano, who improved his record to 2–0. Following the fight, Terrible addressed the crowd in a post-fight interview, stating: More...

Napalm Death Returns To Brixton With Crowbar
Over the course of metal music, there are tours with names that become as well known as the bands that spawned them themselves. Perhaps the most famous is Ozzfest (which, for those of you under twenty, was like a circus that treated the audience as clowns,) the abysmally named but wildly successful Lollapalooza which was created by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and featured a number of metal bands performing, and of course, the Family Values tour, a celebration of nu metal, mostly by bands who didn't want to be called nu metal.
In recent years, grindcore pioneers Napalm Death has joined those ranks with their Campaign For Musical Destruction tour, which by now has become a regular thing at this time of the year and brings together a plethora of extreme acts, from fellow grind favourites like Rotten Sound to death metal icons such as Immolation to thrashers like Warbringer. The actual name has been used by the band sporadically for decades but as a regular trek, it's become more of a staple this decade. Napalm Death has just completed the latest edition of this travelling explosion and this year, the European lineup included New Orleans masters Crowbar, East Coast grindcore band Full Of Hell and "bimboviolence" outfit Brat, also from NOLA and Metal Underground was lucky enough to be there for the London stop of the tour.
Just like last year, when the trek featured Pig Destroyer, Primitive Man and Wormrot, the Campaign For Musical Destruction made its London pitch in Brixton. Not at the Academy, thank the gods, but just down the road at Electric; a smaller venue that packs a great atmosphere. As always, fans could hardly wait to burst through the doors for this celebration of noise and first up to bat were New Orleans (relative) newcomers Brat. Although they've been around for five years now, their debut full length, "Social Grace," was only released a year ago and so people have had a little time to get their teeth into them now. Much like the 2023 tour openers Escuela Grind, much has been made about their image and therefore, whether or not they're actually grind or whatever, but personally, I'm all for it.
I would say maybe I'm in the minority for liking a bit of fun with my music, but the crowd in south London were clearly game too. They didn't have time for a lot of songs and vocalist Liz Selfish was recovering from an illness, but they went off like a sandstorm (which coincidentally was also their intro song,) causing havoc all over the venue with an excellent display of sonic violence that contained plenty of cuts from their debut, including "Ego Death," "Hesitation Wound" and "Human Offense." As the band practically tore apart their instruments, Selfish was entertaining (and confusing some of) the audience with manic facial expressions and dance moves that I couldn't dream of doing. For all the pink, the silliness and the pop samples, they're very much a hardcore band at heart, making a big noise with a grounded attitude. Though the clips of Britney Spears songs were somewhat funny, in truth, Brat doesn't need them. They have a brilliant stage presence that can win over any doubters willing to check them out, as I hope many will do when they return to London this Summer. More...
Brat Premiere Cover Of Heart’s “Barracuda”

Self-proclaimed ‘barbiegrind/bimboviolence’ outfit Brat have released their explosive cover of Heart’s 1977 rock classic “Barracuda.” This unique rendition features a guest appearance from Sammy Duet of Goatwhore/Acid Bath fame.
Brat shared their thoughts on the cover, stating: More...

Napalm Death Announces 2025 European Tour Dates
There aren't many tours that survive for decades and are still just as interesting as before...like the Campaign For Musical Destruction Tour 2025. This successful and extraordinary Tour has been leading Napalm Death through the World for already over 30 Years. The Tour can always convince through a colourful blend between a creative up and extreme underground music. Revolutionary extreme music Titans always bring a package of sonically and ethically like-minded Acts. For sure, this Tour has always been a Guaranty for interesting Blends, and it has been a door-opener for new Variations and Music Styles. It has always been, and still is doubtfully legendary.
Also, there is no other metal-crossover Tour that has been comparably successful without ever having to change the Concept for Decades, always presenting new Influences and Extreme Music against all Odds and not adapting at all. After all, let's not float back in time. Let's talk about the Future. The Tour with the legendary name Campaign for Musical Destruction 2025, with which the iconic Napalm Death have been touring the World's Stages for 30 Years, has again put together a great line-up, together with M.A.D. Tourbooking, which includes Napalm Death, Crowbar, Full Of Hell and Brat. If you want to be destroyed by Noise and not by Music, then you are in the right Place!

Mystic Festival Day Two Was All About Megadeth
The second day of Mystic Festival 2024 featured the festival’s main attraction band, Thrash Metal’s Big Four legends, Megadeth. There were already more people here than the previous two days and Megadeth wouldn’t take the stage for another eight hours. There was a slight chance for rain later on, but I would bet that even if the forecast called for torrential tsunami rain, that it wouldn’t deter any “Droogie” today.

Mystic Festival Cthulhu Skull
Lousiana’s sludge titans, Crowbar, was the first band on my list today. The sky was little dark when they took the stage but that only added some realistic atmosphere to their New Orleans laden vibe. This was their first show in Poland ever so the crowd was a little fervid to say the least. Kirk Windstein was his usual southern gentleman self, but I think his accent might have been a little too much for the Polish heavy crowd to understand at times. Either way, it was a great start to the day.

Kirk Windstein of Crowbar
The Shits were probably the only true punk band on the Mystic Festival billing. Their songs didn’t consist of your typical punk rock formula, they’re longer and slower, but the punk attitude is front and center. For example, vocalist Callum Howe stole at least two beers from the crowd and then spat those said beers onto them. At one point, he reached into his pants, appeared to pull some hair from a specific area of his groin and then put those hairs into his mouth. HE THEN SWALLOWED THEM. Ehhh…. I guess he wanted to make a statement that punk is more about attitude than song formula? I don’t get why you have to be disgusting to be punk.

The Shits
After The Shits, another British band (this one not so gross) took to the same DNA laden stage. Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs AKA Pigsx7. I saw them open up for the Melvins last summer and loved their show. I became an instant fan right away. Their set at this year’s Mystic Festival was absolute fire. Their energy level was through the roof and was reciprocated tenfold by the crowd throughout their 45-minute-long set. The barefooted Muay Thai gear sporting vocalist, Matthew Baty, is a fucking inferno onstage. In my opinion, his live show energy level is only second to Barney Greenway of Napalm Death.

Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs
At some point during their set, a pair of some very used looking tennis shoes ended up on stage. When the band attempted to return them to the now presumed barefooted owner, no one claimed them. Maybe it was a gesture of gratitude by the shoeless fan? Maybe they evaporated by spontaneous combustion? We’ll never know what actually happened. But one thing is for certain…when a band creates a fever pitch anything is possible and that’s exactly what Pigsx7 did that day.
German heavy metal legends Accept’s set started at sunset on the large outdoor Park Stage. I was a little surprised by this since I’ve seen Accept command much larger stages in the past. The crowd didn’t seem to notice the smaller stage at all with fan favorites such as “Restless and Wild,” “Fast as a Shark,” and “Balls to the Wall” being included in their setlist. Accept looked spry and genuinely happy to still be playing the summer metal festival circuit. I think in every photo that I took of lead guitarist Wolf Hoffmann; he’s grinning from ear to ear. I’m pretty sure the same look was planted on every face within the crowd behind me.

Mark Tornillo and Wolf Hoffmann of Accept
I had to make a difficult decision for my next band to see due to another schedule conflict. Do I see grind metal gods Terrorizer? Or, Swedish stoner rock legends, Graveyard? Ultimately, I picked Graveyard just because they don’t tour the United States often. Unfortunately, I ended up regretting that decision afterwards.
As I drew closer towards the smallish outdoor Desert Stage, I could see everyone waiting for Graveyard were squished together like sardines near the stage. I managed to worm my way through that mess to an already crowded photo pit. I’ve seen Graveyard before, but it’s been a while. I can honestly say I was a bit bored during the time I was there. Unless you’re a superfan and you love all their material, you might understand my critique. There wasn’t a whole lot happening on stage neither. I’ll just leave it at this. Graveyard are super talented and play well live but compared to the majority of the bands at the festival, their set was a snoozer for me.

What's So Great About Mystic Festival? Read This.
1. Certain bands that hardly come stateside but are easier to see if you’re in Europe. The bands I’m specifically referring to for this article are Gutalax, Asphyx, Furia, Satyricon and Blasphemy. Gutalax are actually going to be playing a couple of dates in the U.S. come September, but I didn’t want to wait that long to see them live for the first time. Asphyx, well…it was 2017 when they were stateside and Furia, I bet never. Satyricon has played some scattered dates here and there but are definitely more active in Europe. Mystic Festival has all of them this summer!
2. The cooler temperatures! This is my third Mystic Festival in a row and because it kicks off the metal festival season in early June, you can still comfortably wear a jacket at night. In fact, in 2022, the temperatures at the end of the first night of the festival were in the 40’s Fahrenheit. The Polish attendees are used to these types of temperatures but for someone that splits their time between Phoenix, Arizona and Athens, Greece, that’s called winter! The days, however, are beautiful. No complaints there.
3. The festival foods. It’s Poland, but this festival offers more than just pierogi and kielbasa. In fact, they are both more difficult to find at Mystic Festival than everything else available. There’s really good pizzas, hamburgers, some Mexican, Portuguese (!!!), lángos (think frybread with sour cream) and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The prices are fair for festival food but the lines can be long at times. There’s an actual indoor food court with plenty of seating if you need to get away for a bit. More...
Mystic Festival (PL) Adds 8 More Bands To Line-Up
It's going to be four very intense days. Heavyweight riffs will be delivered by American masters Crowbar, but also the sensation of recent seasons from the UK, namely Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. In the latter's music bleakness of doom contrasts with free-flowing, psychedelic rock and roll.
Death worshippers Blasphemy are not coming to Gdansk in peace - the cult Canadian band will wreak havoc and destruction. Twin Temple also serves the night, although they pursue it through completely different means. Instead of asking, like The Rolling Stones, for sympathy for the devil, they will force you to do a sinful dance to their infernal doo-wop.
We love to jump from one extreme to another, from retro to modern and even to the future of metal and rock. Brits from Wargasm will rock the stage with a cocktail of electro punk and nu-metal. Scowl is anger-driven hardcore from California. Iceland is represented by post-metal visionaries from Múr, and if you fly too far away with them, Denmark's Nakkeknaekker will bring you down to earth with their full-blooded death metal.
Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 5th through 8th, 2024.
Tickets are available now on the Mystic Festival homepage here More...

For the accompanying music video, the band collaborated with director Mike Holderbeast, shooting at the renowned Joy Theatre in New Orleans, LA. Kenny Hickey shed light on the song's meaning, explaining that it questions the existence of an afterlife, as delusions are inevitably shattered by reality. More...

Desertfest London 2023: Day 2
Saturday the 6th of May was an important day for Britain, being the day that the country crowned a new monarch for the first time since 1952 and the country's police cracking down on anyone who vocally opposed the antiquated idea of an unelected figurehead. In the north of the capital, away from these shenanigans, Camden town wasn't just welcoming the usual market visitors, but the returning fans of doom, stoner and desert rock for the second day of DesertFest 2023.
Appropriately, the day started with some real desert rock royalty, as genre pioneers Fatso Jetson got things going in the Electric Ballroom. For those unfamiliar with the group, they're a real family affair, with three members being related and a legacy which spans three decades, welcoming a whole new generation of fans throughout their existence. Like some of the other bands on the bill, Fatso Jetson's strength lies within their music rather than their stage act and they have a really strong vibe about them, which permeates the room. The show became more intriguing when they were joined by former Throw Rag frontman and "desert legend" Sean Wheeler, who exudes charisma, like a hybrid of Nick Cave and Chris Isaak. He stayed with the band for the rest of the set, which was a delight for all fans in attendance and curious onlookers. More...
