Heavy metal quartet Mudvayne formed in Peoria, IL, in 1996, its members adopting the unusual pseudonyms Kud (C. Gray) (vocals), Gurrg (G. Tribbett) (guitar), and sPaG (M. McDonough) (drums). The group's original bassist was replaced after two years by Ryknow (Ryan Martinie). Always concerned with the visual aspect of their performances, the band developed bizarre stage identities, while their sound (dubbed "math metal" in an attempt to explain its intricacies) had little in common with most of their peers. Characterised by challenging arrangements and with influences ranging from new wave, electro to metal, the result was a compelling mix of staccato riffing, raging vocals, and electronica with jazzy flourishes.

Despite great reviews in the press, Mudvayne has seemed to take the roll of Slipknot follower. Both wearing make-up and use many pseudonyms. But considering the circumstances, Mudvayne has been a major draw at metal festivals and tours.

Mudvayne reached fame through the release of their sophomore album, LD. 50. (L.D. 50 referrs to the pharmacological count for lethal dosages) Through good reviews and worthwhile record sales, the band has created a following of their own.

Mudvayne Returns After 12 Year Hiatus

Mudvayne--one of the most creative and distinctive bands in the aggressive music world--has announced that they’re reuniting after a 12-year hiatus, and will be performing at all four Danny Wimmer Presents U.S. festivals in 2021: Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival (a headlining performance) in Ohio, Louder Than Life in Kentucky, Aftershock in California and Welcome To Rockville in Florida. These dates mark the band’s first shows since 2009 and their only dates this year.

Watch the Mudvayne announcement video below.

Mudvayne formed in 1996 and has sold over six million records worldwide, earning Gold certification for three albums (L.D. 50, The End Of All Things To Come, Lost and Found). The band is known for their sonic experimentation, innovative album art, face and body paint, masks and uniforms. Mudvayne is Chad Gray (vocals), Greg Tribbett (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew McDonough (drums, synthesizer) and Ryan Martinie (bass).

Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents recalls, “In our fan surveys, Mudvayne has consistently been one of the most requested bands – even though they weren’t an active band! We’ve been working for years to make this happen, so when I got the call that they’d finally take a meeting, [DWP Executive VP & Talent Buyer] Gary Spivack and I jumped at the chance to fly to Vegas. We sat down for dinner with Mudvayne, their lawyer Eric German, manager Diony Sepulveda and agent Ryan Harlacher – the band hadn’t even been in the same room together for 10 years – and pleaded our case for why the time was right for this to happen. We were hoping to announce this in 2020, we’re fortunate enough to be able to do it in 2021, and DWP is super pumped to have Mudvayne exclusively at all four of our festivals this year.” More...

Mudvayne Members Form Audiotopsy

A powerhouse new band is about to emerge on the hard rock/metal scene: introducing Audiotopsy, featuring guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne, Hell Yeah), drummer Matt McDonough (Mudvayne), vocalist Billy Keeton (Skrape) and bassist Perry Stern.

The band recently completed the recording process for a debut album, expected out this Summer 2015. The album is currently being mixed.

"I'm extremely excited about Audiotopsy," says Greg. "The music has everything you want in a record...heavy/melodic/atmospheric/big hooky riffs/sing alongs as well. The guys in the band are great and we all feel as if this was meant to happen. Everyone is very artistic and we all felt an energy from our first meeting. We can't wait for the world to hear Audiotopsy and can't wait to get out there and tour the world. A/Y IS COMING! I'm Ready To Fuck Shit Up!"

Billy adds: "From the first few notes I knew this was going to be killer. The chemistry happening just took over and spawned this sound, this animal. I'm super stoked to get this music out, and to get this band on tour. Let the madness begin."

Fans of the members' projects should also brace themselves for a label signing announcement, as plans to release the yet-untitled debut are currently being finalized.
