WWF Sponsor Ozzfest
The World Wrestling Federation will be the main sponsor of this year’s US Ozzfest tour – and that means some of the biggest superstars in the WWFE will be introducing bands like System Of A Down onstage. And WTF is with this WWFE? Those guys should kick the shit out of that bunch of tree-huggers.
Dragonforce Seek Sanctuary
Young British metalheads Dragonforce have signed to Sanctuary Records. The band will work with producer Tommy Hansen (of Helloween fame) on their debut album.
Masterplan In The Works
Masterplan, the German band featuring former Helloween pair Roland Grapow (guitar) and Uli Kusch (drums), are finishing up their as yet untitled debut album with producer Andy Sneap. Once this is completed, the band will look for a suitable label.
Metal War Signs Lord Blasphemer
Metal War Productions has just signed Lord Blasphemer from Chicago IL. In the coming months they will release their debut CD “Tales of Misanthropy, Bloodlust and Mass Homicide" in full digipack CD packaging. This is real Death Metal inspired by bands like Autopsy, Pestilence, Goreaphobia & Repulsion.
Thoten Kick Off Tour in Peru
Next week, Thoten starts the South American part of the "Beyond Tour". The band arrives in Peru for a chain of promotional activities, including interviews for magazines and webzines, participation in TV programs and autograph party. Then they will headline the most important metal festival in the country, the "II Festival Lima Metal Rock".
Cattle Decapitation Signs to Metal Blade
San Diego extreme metallers Cattle Decapitatoin have inked a deal with Metal Blade Records and will enter San Francisco's Trident Studio with producer Juan Urteaga in early April to record their debut for the label, entitled To Serve Man. Singer Travis Ryan had this to say about the group's addition to the Metal Blade roster: “We're all very pleased about being on Metal Blade. We have been fans of bands on Metal Blade for years now, so to finally to be on a roster that has hosted Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, RIgor Mortis, and Cryptic Slaughter is just fine with us! Being on Metal Blade is going to allow us to reach a higher level of exposure and ability to play in places and in front of crowds that we wouldn't normally be able to, and that is something we need right now.”
To Serve Man is scheduled for a July release
Anselmo: Pearl Jam Should Sue Creed
Pantera/Down frontman Philip Anselmo on today's rock music:
“F.ck music today. I don't listen to that. When I listen to music I listen to stuff from 20, 30 years ago. You're not going to catch me listening to any modern bands today in my genre, the genre that I helped create. When you f.cking do Pantera riffs and rap over the top of it and jump up and down, you're not going to impress me with that. I'm sorry, but you're not going to.
“A band like Creed, to me, needs to be taken to f.cking court and sued over their blatant, pathetic goddamn robbery of Pearl Jam.”
Without Face Finish Album
Hungarian atmospheric metallers Without Face putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to last year's Deep Inside effort.
Titled, Astronomicon, Without Face's new material is said to "usher in a new era for the band." Described as a mix of Death and Dream Theater, Without Face tackle metal with dual male/female vocals.
Expect to see Without Face's Astronomicon sometime later this year on Elitist Records.
Stratovarius to Enter Studio
Finnish power metallers Stratovarius are finally gearing up to enter Finnvox Studios in Helsinki to record their ninth full-length album.
Titled, Elements part 1, the album signals a reportedly faster and heavier direction for Stratovarius. Yet, the band won't lose any of their signature symphonic elements as the album is host to a full orchestra and choir conducted by Finnish conductor Riku Niemi.
