The new album from Varg Vikernes' Burzum, titled "Umskiptar," will see North American release on May 22nd. Finding inspiration from the verses of famous Scandinavia poem “Voluspa,” "Umskiptar" is a return-to-roots album. Says the controversial musician: “The vocals are more important than on any previous album with a total of 66 stanzas making up the album’s lyrics.”
The following press release was also issued by Candlelight Records:
"Umskiptar expands Burzum’s ongoing influence of Nordic folk, but for this album adds more traditional heavy metal, signature Burzum composition, and a keener emphasis on vocal delivery – once again presented in Vikernes’ native tongue. Umskiptar (or Metamorphoses) follows the historical story that details the creation of the world and its end as dictated to Odin, a recurring character in Bruzum’s lyrics. Umskiptar follows 2011’s Fallen."
The "Umskiptar" track listing is as follows:
1. Bloostokkinn
2. Joln
3. Alfadanz
4. Hit Helga Tre
5. AEra
6. Heior
7. Valgaldr
8. Galgvior
9. Surtr Sunnan
10. Gullaldr
11. Niohoggr
The album is available for pre-order now at Candlelight’s official webstore here.

I'm not gonna say anything about Varg as a person, because its all been said before, we get it he sucks. As for his music it spans anywhere from absolutly horrible to prettt damn interesting, so ill probably check it out on YouTube and grab the two songs i like on iTunes. Just saying....that's how I roll.

Excited for the new album. Fallen was amazing. It's going to be interesting to say the least.
If you dont like it move the f*** on and use your energy towards something positive. Most of you should try it sometime, probably wouldn't make you in to such bitter a$$holes. Just saying.

i actually like lots of norwegian stuff...mayhem,enslaved, emperor, darkthrone, immortal, older dimmu borgir...i just think varg is a no talent hack who got famous for burning churches and killing euronymous...its sad to see metalheads endorsing murder and arson...gee and you guys wonder why our music has so many negative stereotypes...burning churches is pointless and stupid...they're all insured up the wazoo...spread education so no one will want to go to church to hear ridiculous fairy tales anymore

dixie isn't entirely wrong with his view. his crimes definitely pushed forth his notoriety unfortunately. however there is no denying that there is some original atmosphere in burzum's music which influenced a lot of black metal artists to follow if not blatantly copy. so for being a 'first' in that raw style and really not sounding like anyone before him.... i give credit that much. it is debatable how well that older stuff stands the test of time.
