These cats are sick as f*** and definatly the future of Death Metal. they SMOKE 75% of the 'extreme' bands out there today. they destroy that gay biker metal known as Disturbed...
but, thats just my opinion. AND might i add, all the guys are really cool to talk with...

^ its not heavy that makes music so great. these guys throw in the same thing over and over again. i can hear the whole albumn through half of one of their songs. they are a good one song band, but they just straight out cant make anything but "brutal" crap. heavy aint sh** without the music

"heavy ain't sh** without the music" - now THAT i can agree with. brutal bands are great, it's awesome stuff, for a few songs. then i need a melody fix. pink floyd, save me!!!
also, screamo is one genre i could never understand... is it basically just metalcore with a semi-emo witch harpy screeching like a forest full of bats? i don't remember which band it was, but that's what i heard. havn't looked into screamo since. pink floyd, save me!!!

Most of you guys must not even listen to this stuff. Screamo? What the hell? Screamo is like Underoath, Alesana, Hawthorne Heights, etc. This is definately deathcore. It's just the genre. Personally I dont like to get "genre specific" but since that seems to be the argument here...Also Suicide Silence, I agree, is nothing special musically speaking. However their energy, cult-like following, and vocals are what stand them apart from the rest of the deathcore scene. Mitch Lucker (Vocalist) has some amazing highs - especially when they are followed by his lows. He is one of the best deathcore vocalists out there. It's a fact. Prove me wrong.
5/5 for Suicide Silence

I'de say the vox are more sh** if you ask me. lol
nah, I kid I kid. I saw them live, and as far as I was concerned, the vocalist was actually their redeeming factor. problem is, the rest of the band was the crap factor.
oh, yeah, it's deathcore. Really heavy hardcore music with a bit more technicality than the general hardcore band shows, and ususally heavier vocals than the barks typically found in hardcore, but less so thatn that found in death metal.
Screamo, from what I hear, like psythe, just sounds like really watered down metalcore, with screeching vox, more clean singing, and messier guitar playing, ala punk guitar playing, but WAAAAYYY gayer sounding.
these guys dont have that "gay" sound I associate with screamo, but they've definitely cornered the market on "sh**ty impressions of both hardcore and death metal simultaneously!" f*** these guys.

I vote that no one ever mentions that word "deathcore" again!
To say it out loud is giving it a false sense of validation that is neither necessary nor in any way shape or form metal.
I NEVER repeat NEVER thought that I would be wishing for nu-metal to return, but when I hear sh**ty over-produced bands like Suicide Silence I wish I was back in 1999.

Definately dethcore, and horrible dethcore (not to be redundant) at that.
Screamo is like heavier Emo. The vox aren't they only reason SS isn't screamo. Musically, they are straight up, chugga-chugga dethcore too. Screamo bands attempt melody. SS goes for brutality.
Both dethcore and screamo achieve high levels of annoyance, so in that respect I can understand the need for debate.
