My Sleeping Karma Introduces New Drummer
German instrumental outfit My Sleeping Karma has announced that they have decided to continue as a band, following the passing of drummer Steffen Weigand in June of last year. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"Dear brothers and sisters,
"They say time is a healer, but some wounds never seem to heal at all. After the tragic loss of our musical soulmate Steffen, we felt desperate and had absolutely no clue how to deal with the situation and how to go along with My Sleeping Karma as a band.
"We are still so grateful for the fund raise that so many of you supported and for the enormous amount of requests to keep our music and Steffen's spirit alive. After long and intense discussions, we finally came to the conclusion that it is our duty to proceed with My Sleeping Karma.
"To proceed for you, the people, to proceed for Steffen. Today it is our pleasure to introduce to you our new drummer André.
"He has been a member of the MSK-Family for such a long time and was our light and video engineer in the past. André is switching positions now and we are in serious rehearsals before hitting the stage again. Some personal words from André will follow in the next days.
"Much Love,
the Karma guys
"P.s. There have been rumours about a first concert at our hometown club Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg on Dec 30th. That's correct and tickets will be on sale soon.

My Sleeping Karma Drummer Passes Away
German instrumental rock/metal outfit My Sleeping Karma has announced that their drummer, Steffen Weigand, has passed away. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"Dear MSK Family,
"We are devastated to inform you that our brother Steffen has passed away this morning surrounded by his loved ones.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family.
"We are heartbroken and have no more words right now."
Weigand was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer over three years ago and continued to fight the illness for the rest of his life. A crowdfunder was launched last year which exceeded its target and the musician felt he could give back to fans and funders with a playthrough video of the band's single, "Prema," which can be seen below. My Sleeping Karma Shares "Mukti" Video
Closing a seven-year gap since their latest studio album, "Moksha," July 29th will see heavy hypnotic rock masters My Sleeping Karma return with their new album, entitled Atma, marking the band‘s darkest, most emotional and deep record to date.
Most of the six new album tracks near the 10-minute mark and shine in distinctive My Sleeping Karma fashion – from crystal clear, otherworldly intros bursting into bittersweet melodies of vulnerable beauty to imposing soundspheres of mesmerizing heaviness with entrancing undercurrents. From the album‘s first tone, it‘s immediately evident that Atma isn‘t just another new My Sleeping Karma record – it‘s an infinite darkness, despair and sadness that furiously drives the German four-piece on studio album number six. As Dave Wyndorf once said, My Sleeping Karma is ART – and their new, cathartic record not only captures the zeitgeist of the times, but leaves a little light for hope, love, beauty and strength amid all the ugly facets of our vulnerable lives.
Following the previously-released first single "Prema," today My Sleeping Karma has shared a music video for the haunting track "Mukti." At just under seven minutes, it‘s the shortest song off the band‘s sixth studio album.
Says drummer Steffen about the new single:
"In times when the majority of news seems to be negative, everyone can decide where to focus the attention. A universal law says that energy always follows attention. By directing our attention towards positive things, we can take the energy away from the negative. This is the way that each individual is able to make a small contribution to healing.
Mukti means liberation, letting go, experience of the highest peace and points exactly to this possibility of choice." More...
My Sleeping Karma Reveals New Album Details
As many artists have experienced, the past two years hit the entire music and culture industry hard. But My Sleeping Karma – they have truly faced the abyss. Formed almost 20 years ago as a strong bond of best friends with a steady line-up ever since, the band has amassed an incredibly successful back catalogue of five highly acclaimed records and a live album in 2017, as well as extensive touring performances at sold-out venues and prestigious festivals that have marked them as one of the most well-respected instrumental post- and hypnotic rock bands within the heavy music community.
Closing a seven-year gap since their latest studio album, "Moksha," My Sleeping Karma have announced the release their most emotional, deep, and darkest record to date, inspired by tragic events, on July 29 via Napalm Records.
The new album, entitled "Atma," describes the (absolute) self, the indestructible, eternal essence of the spirit, and is often translated as the "soul". Sickness, death, and existential fear had brought the band to a point in music and life at which they were close to parting ways. But their will to survive has been recorded on "Atma" – a record the band wasn’t even sure would see the light of day when they started working on it back in 2017, and if it did, would’ve never been for industry sales, fame or success. "Atma" tells the story of their lives, processing the trauma of personal tragedies, deepest pain and fear of four best friends that have been going through their darkest days since their band existence. Desertfest UK Announces Lineup Changes
The organisers of the British edition of Desert Fest, which will celebrate it's tenth incarnation next month, have announced that a number of bands have been unable to make it to this year's festival, including Corrosion Of Conformity and The Obsessed. The good news however is that they have booked a number of replacements. A message from the organisers reads as follows:
"Due to circumstances well beyond our control, the following artists are no longer able to perform at DF London ’22: Corrosion of Conformity, The Obsessed/Wino, Khemmis, Somali Yacht Club, Mos Generator, URNE, Shuck.
"We know this news comes as a disappointment however, all is far from lost as we are thrilled to be welcoming 1000mods, Greenleaf, DVNE, Ritual King, Shooting Daggers, Old Horn Tooth & Personal Hell to the bill!
"We hope you understand that touring is still extremely difficult to navigate during these times, with a lot of decisions taken out of our hands. But your continued support of independent live music means everything to us. We cannot wait to see you in a little over a month!
"If you are still after a weekend ticket, the best thing to do is sign up to the DICE waiting list. Or you can nab yourself a Saturday + Sunday (Non-Roundhouse access) combo ticket here.
"More info regarding after-parties, merch + a very exciting reveal of what's going to be on offer down on Greenland Place is all to come.. stay tuned!" More...

"My Sleeping Karma is very thankful and excited for the opportunity to work with one of the most important record labels in the independent heavy/rock scene. During several meetings, Napalm's representatives always gave us the feeling of real understanding in My Sleeping Karma's musical journey.
