Austrian Death Machine Debuts New Music Video

Austrian Death Machine Premiere New Music Video
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has released another single from his side project, Austrian Death Machine. This metal celebration of all things Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to drop its first new album in over a decade, titled "Quad Brutal," on February 23rd via Napalm Records.
The third track shared ahead of the album is titled "Destroy The Machines" and draws inspiration from the 'Terminator' film franchise. Tim Lambesis' wife, Dany Lambesis (Hellbørn), makes a guest appearance on vocals, with guitarists Mark MacDonald, Cory Walker, and Joey Alarcon (Wolves At The Gate, Born Through Fire) also contributing. Drums were handled by Brandon Short.

Tim Lambesis, the vocalist of As I Lay Dying and others, is set to release the first new Austrian Death Machine album in a decade this upcoming February. Titled “Quad Brutal,” the album will be released by Napalm Records on February 23rd.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger-parodying outfit will feature numerous guests, including Lambesis' wife Dany Lambesis (HELLBØRN), Ricky Hoover (Ov Sulfur), Brandon Richter (Bleeding Through), Joey Alarcon (Wolves At The Gate/Born Through Fire), Angel Vivaldi, Clayton King, and professional bodybuilders Craig Golias and Rob Bailey.
A music video for the new single “Don’t Be Lazy” has been released online, featuring a guest appearance from Craig Golias.

Austrian Death Machine Return After Almost 10 Yrs.
Austrian Death Machine are back with their first single in nearly a decade. This parody band, known for spoofing Arnold Schwarzenegger, is led by Tim Lambesis, of the San Diego metalcore group As I Lay Dying. They are gearing up to launch a new album in 2024 through Napalm Records.
The debut single, "No Pain No Gain," features guest appearances by bodybuilder/musician Craig Golias and guitarist Angel Vivaldi. 'Ahnold,' along with Cory Walker, Mark MacDonald, and Brandon Short, contributed to this track as well. As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Issues New Statement
As I Lay Dying frontman issues the below statement via the band’s social media, in which he apologizes for his past actions. Lambesis spent two years in prison after he pled guilty to a charge of solicitation of another to commit murder. The charge stemmed from Lambesis unknowingly attempting to hire an undercover cop posing as a hitman to murder his now ex-wife, Meggan Lambesis, back in 2013.

Tim Lambesis Opens Up In Interview
Leading up to his sentencing, Tim Lambesis gave a lengthy, in-depth interview to Alternative Press, covering a range of topics from his state of mind, marital problems, steriods, the solicitation to commit murder charges, prison, the future and more. The interview spans 6 pages (don't be fooled by the initial 3 linked from the first page). Here's a bit about how the actual plot got started:
This guy at my gym, my workout partner, I just expressed to him how sad I was. I asked the guy I had been buying steroids from, the steroid dealer, if we could meet. I’m talking to him in the parking lot one afternoon and I go, “Hey, how’s it going?” He goes, “Pretty good, unless you maybe need me to kill somebody for you.” Like that, right off the bat.
I’m kind of like, “Whoa, what are you talking about?” He goes, “Well I’ve heard you’ve been pretty frustrated with your wife…” He just kind of had—I mean, he’s a steroid dealer. He has a sketchy background, you know what I mean? So I’m thinking, “Geez, where’s this guy going with this?” He starts asking me these seemingly rhetorical questions. “Have you tried working things out with your lawyer?” I said yeah, but it was going to be a couple of months before I saw the judge. “Have you tried taking them to a social worker? Like a counselor?” I said yes and the social worker had met with the kids.
He goes, “Well, you know your other option is I can hook you up with somebody that could do this.” And he goes, “Can you think of a better option?” He’s asking it like it’s a rhetorical question. I remember thinking at the time, “This doesn’t feel right. This doesn’t feel like my best option.” But my thinking at that time… As much as I wished there was a better option, this is my best option. Obviously, right now, I can think of a dozen things and I understand the legal system much better. Legally speaking, there are emergency type things where you can get a judge to see you earlier, which I didn’t know. There are dozens of things I can think of now. But I just started to develop this mindset of, “Alright… I guess this seems like the path I’m going to have to go down.”

I know. One of my friends hit me up because he thought it was real. The judge has three options to choose from: three years, six years or nine. The way the credits work in California, you serve 50 percent of that time. So it’s actually one and a half years, three years or four and-a-half years.

Austrian Death Machine has released a new track online titled "Prepare To Be Conquered," which can be heard below.

"Triple Brutal" is due out April 1st. In related news, Austrian Death Machine's Tim Lambesis recently changed his plea to guilty for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife, and is facing up to nine years in prison.

Tim Lambesis To Serve Time For Murder Plot
After being arrested in May of 2013 for attempting to hire an undercover police agent to murder his estranged wife, Tim Lambesis (Austrian Death Machine, As I Lay Dying) is now going to be serving up to nine years in jail, according to an update from NBC San Diego.
An excerpt from the news site reads:
The singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band "As I Lay Dying" pleaded guilty to his role in a murder-for-hire plot.
Carlsbad resident Tim Lambesis entered the change of plea in court Tuesday, admitting that he hired a hit man to kill his estranged wife. As a result of his change of plea, Lambesis will serve nine years according to a court clerk.
It's not clear yet if the "9 years" referenced in the article was a maximum or the official amount of time for a plea deal, as Lambesis has not had an official sentencing hearing yet. Further info will be forthcoming.
Despite Lambesis' arrest, Austrian Death Machine continued on with the crowd funded third album "Triple Brutal," which is set for release on April 1st. Austrian Death Machine Locks Down Album Release
Artery Recordings has teamed up with Ahhnold to release Austrian Death Machine’s new record "Triple Brutal."
The fate of the album was in limbo after Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly trying to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife, but it's now official: the record will hit retail stores and digital outlets on April 1st, 2014.
"Triple Brutal" was crowd funded on Indiegogo and all contributors will start receiving their packages on March 28th. The album follows previous record "Double Brutal" (reviewed here) and royalties from "Triple Brutal" will be going to the World Vision Charity. More...
Tim Lambesis Gets House Arrest Exemption
Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying and Austrian Death Machine had his bail lowered back in May, and has been out on house arrest while awaiting trial for allegedly hiring an undercover agent to murder his estranged wife.
The San Diego Reader has now reported Lambesis will be allowed an exception for his house arrest to seek physical therapy for a neck injury. Excerpts from the story follow:
"Defendant Timothy Lambesis is currently on house arrest and due to the restrictions of his release cannot leave the house to seek medical attention for the neck injury from which he is currently suffering.” This statement was made by the defendant’s private attorney, Thomas Warwick Jr., who filed papers asking a court to allow Lambesis exceptions to his house arrest.
Superior Court Judge Kimberlee Lagotta signed an order allowing “defendant to go to his physical therapy appointments” the same day the motion was filed, August 2, 2013.
The lead singer for the heavy metal band As I Lay Dying particularly requested, and was granted, permission to go to a therapist named Lanele Stafford at Coast Kinesiology in Del Mar. There was one other location named as a destination for therapy, an orthopedic group in La Jolla, which was also allowed by the court.
Tim Lambesis will return to court on September 16th for his next hearing. The date of the actual trial has not been set at this time.

Austrian Death Machine Album Still Happening
The fate of the recently crowd-funded Austrian Death Machine album was up in the air after Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly trying to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife.
Apparently the album is still on track however, as the Austrian Death Machine Facebook page has now been updated with this statement:
"UPDATE!!! Neaaaahhh!!!
"Tim finished all of his parts back before he went on tour in Asia. He was just waiting for me to do my parts and put together the finishing touches on the mix of the album. I'm working on that this starting this week now that I have the files. The CD should be done soon and then we'll start planning to manufacture.

Tim Lambesis Has Bail Lowered
Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine, Pyrithion) was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife Meggan, who filed for divorce last year.
Lambesis subsequently plead "not guilty" to the charges, and his bail was set at $3 million. Now NBC San Diego reports that Lambesis received a new bail hearing, and his bail has been lowered to $2 million, although he still remains in custody at this point and apparently has not made bail.
According to the article, Tim's attorney Tom Warwick has now made reference to steroid usage - which was widely speculated to be at the root of the issue when news of the arrest first broke. An excerpt follows:
The frontman started taking supplements, then steroids, that led to what Warwick referred to as “changes in his physiological and mental status.” He went from 170 to 220-pounds and in his attorney’s words, “Was not the same person. He was irritable and lost God.” A forensic psychiatrist who consulted with the defense said Lambesis got “roid rage” after using steroids.
His attorney said Lambesis is now off steroids, going through withdrawal, and in total isolation in jail for protection from other inmates. He’s also getting personal counseling from a jail chaplain.
As Lambesis remains in jail, As I Lay Dying has dropped off the coming Killswitch Engage tour, with Darkest Hour and The Word Alive joining on the supporting slots instead.

I personally find the idea of putting people on a pedestal to be incredibly naive and childish. At some point, whoever you idolize as being perfect will turn out to have some sort of horrible character flaws that you'll never be able to forgive. People are human, and with that comes not being perfect. Hence why I'm able to say that I don't mind somebody's offstage behavior as much as I do the actual music. Footage Of Tim Lambesis' Arraignment Available
After pleading "not guilty" on charges of soliciting the murder of his estranged wife, footage has now been posted online from Tim Lambesis' arraignment, which is available below.
During the proceedings the prosecution outlined its case and stated what allegedly occurred. According to the prosecution, Lambesis gave an undercover agent money, pictures of his wife, gate codes for her home, and dates when the murder could occur, along with specifically stating he wanted her dead - apparently all of which was recorded on audio.
In addition to the recent statement made by Tim's primary band As I Lay Dying, the members of his new outfit Pyrithion also comment:
"I want to thank everyone for their patience and for their concerns and good wishes that you have shown the band this last week. Obviously this is a situation that can't be planned for and therefor we have been trying not to speak out of turn. As of now, we don't have any more information on the situation than what we can find in the news but we want to make sure this plays out how it needs to and that we don't in any way interfere. Thank you so much for the continued support everyone, it means a ton to us."
Tim Lambesis Pleads "Not Guilty"
As I Lay Dying / Austrian Death Machine / Pyrithion member Tim Lambesis was arrested Tuesday for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife, who previously filed for divorce from the metalcore front man.
The sheriff's department stated they learned of Lambesis' alleged attempts to hire a hitman on May 2nd and subsequently arrested him on the 7th.
UTSanDiego.com is now reporting that Lambesis pleaded "not guilty" when arraigned in court today, and bail was set at $3 million. It is unknown at this time if Lambesis will make bail or remain in custody.

Sheriff's Department Comments On Tim Lambesis
In news that has shocked the metalverse, Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying was arrested yesterday for allegedly soliciting an undercover officer to murder his wife.
Artisan News Service has now posted a video clip online with more details, including an interview with a member of the San Diego Sheriff's Department discussing the investigation and the arrest of Lambesis.
Although there has been no statement from any of Lambesis' various bands at this point (As I Lay Dying, Pyrithion, Austrian Death Machine), the San Diego Sheriff website does list Tim as being detained and set for arraignment tomorrow (May 9th) for charges of solicitation and conspiracy to commit murder.
It is assumed at this time that the band's tour with Killswitch Engage will be cancelled. Tim Lambesis also recently launched a crowd funding campaign to record a new Austrian Death Machine album, and the fate of that recording is likewise considered to be on hold or canceled. Tim also posted a video online just a few days ago defending his band Pyrithion from the religious fans of As I Lay Dying who were concerned with the darker and more extreme bent his latest project was taking.

Tim Lambesis Arrested In Murder For Hire Plot

Reuters reports that Tim Lambesis, frontman for As I Lay Dying and multi-instrumentalist for Austrian Death Machine, has been arrested for seeking the help of an undercover detective to have his estranged wife killed.
According to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Lambesis was taken into custody on Tuesday in Oceanside, California, after soliciting help from the detective. Police had previously learned Lambesis was seeking someone who could commit the crime, the department said.
A representative for the As I Lay Dying's record label could not immediately be reached for comment, and it was unclear if Lambesis had an attorney.
Austrian Death Machine Launches Funding Campaign
Austrian Death Machine has launched a new crowd funding campaign to record a third full-length album and follow-up to the "Double Brutal" album (reviewed here) and "Jingle All The Way" holiday single (reviewed here).
