Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine, Pyrithion) was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife Meggan, who filed for divorce last year.

Lambesis subsequently plead "not guilty" to the charges, and his bail was set at $3 million. Now NBC San Diego reports that Lambesis received a new bail hearing, and his bail has been lowered to $2 million, although he still remains in custody at this point and apparently has not made bail.

According to the article, Tim's attorney Tom Warwick has now made reference to steroid usage - which was widely speculated to be at the root of the issue when news of the arrest first broke. An excerpt follows:

The frontman started taking supplements, then steroids, that led to what Warwick referred to as “changes in his physiological and mental status.” He went from 170 to 220-pounds and in his attorney’s words, “Was not the same person. He was irritable and lost God.” A forensic psychiatrist who consulted with the defense said Lambesis got “roid rage” after using steroids.

His attorney said Lambesis is now off steroids, going through withdrawal, and in total isolation in jail for protection from other inmates. He’s also getting personal counseling from a jail chaplain.

As Lambesis remains in jail, As I Lay Dying has dropped off the coming Killswitch Engage tour, with Darkest Hour and The Word Alive joining on the supporting slots instead.

Of course, this comes only a few days after his attorney blamed everything on a setup.

Way too many excuses. It's all futile damage control at this point. Sad.

Possibilty of a set up still exists if you read last fridays news story on this case that somehow metalunderground forgot to publish.
The roids do not surprise me but the severe character change does, mainly even entertaining the thought of offing your ex.
The sdpd & sheriffs dept has had there gaffs as well in this case, if they didnt louse it up they would have had him on 4 charges facing life instead of only 1 facing 9yrs.
Case still isnt over but this does not bode well for tim.
Never thought i'd ever see tim lambesis and addiction in the same story.

He'll plea bargin his way out of a long sentence.
He'll do some time but he won't get life.
And now that steroids are taking front and center once again...
The war on drugs has proven to be a costly and ineffective failure on every level.
That includes steroids.
If you're going to be injecting yourself with this stuff then I'd rather the thousands of bodybuilders be under a doctors supervision.
When you're getting the drugs off the street you have no idea what your injecting yourself with.
Not that it excuses what Tim did but common...
The war has failed and it needs to end.
The focus needs to be on education, prevention and supervision.

Steroids possibly could have been a factor as this claim states, Chris Benoit's friends and family said his drug use changed him drastically, only good story here is Tim can get help and his estranged wife still her life and can hopefully heal and move on from this... I feel terrible for Nick, Jordon, Josh and Phil and the touring crew... They all have lost their brother...

Heh, guess my previous wildly inappropriate speculation about steroids was on the mark. Not that surprised, don't do drugs or Christian metal kids.
