Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has issued the following announcement about seeking fan input on the top 10 metal bands:
"Droogies!
"I want to ask for a list of the top metal bands to put on my show. Let's figure out a way to make a list of the top 10 or top 100 for all I care, but make sure that its cool stuff and not obscure crap that I wouldn't listen to.
"I want to make a radio station in the US that will be hard to turn off. Kinda like the old KNAC was. Of course I have very bizarre musical tastes, and some of those songs will never see a playlist on the show, but that doesn't mean I won't talk about them.
"I am going white water rafting today for a short vacation and will be ready to start going over music that I picked and suggestions that y'all make when I return; if I am not in a body cast. More...

David Ellefson Comments On "Mary Jane" Legend
Ex-Megadeth member David Ellefson has issued the following statement regarding the legend of Mary Jane, which inspired the Megadeth song of the same title:
"This past week I visited my hometown of Jackson, Minnesota to be with my family while my mother underwent heart surgery. Thankfully, all went well and she is quickly recovering. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
"Prior to my trip, the Jackson County Historical Society Museum (located in the nearby town of Lakefield, MN) contacted me to contribute my historical perspective on the story of the now legendary girl Mary Jane Twilliger, whom the song ‘Mary Jane’ on the 'So Far, So Good…So What' album was written. Legend had it she was a young witch buried alive by her father in the nearby Loon Lake, MN cemetery. The mystery surrounding her grew to such legendary proportions over the years that it was rumoured anyone who dared violate her grave in any was was doomed to a certain and immediate death. There were even stories of deadly car crashes involving people who got drunk and caused mayhem on her grave, thinking it was all harmless fun.
"The song helped propel the myth to global status and a book is now being written on the subject of the many ubiquitous stories, reported deaths and tragedies of people who dared challenge the grave of this mysterious girl. The Historical Society relocated the headstone from her grave to the museum, which I got to take a picture with on my visit. Check out a few photos now posted in the gallery (her tombstone’s epitaph was the inspiration to the bridge section lyric of the song). More...

Megadeth Guitarist Checks in from Canada
Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick has checked in with the following update:
"We have played three of the four shows up here in Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary) and so far and the fans have been awesome. Some have been following us from show to show some even flew out from Italy to see us!!! The roster of bands has actually fit very well, I was worried that the diversity would segment the fan base to much but it seems (to me anyway) that there is something that each band brings to the table for everyone to appreciate. Whether it's the guitar driven thrash of Megadeth, old school double kick drum of Slayer, Heavy groove of Machine Head, or the brutal screaming of Suicide Silence, people are (IMHO) into it. Now we shall see what Winnipeg has to offer for the fourth and final show."

Megadeth Reveals New Album Title
American thrash metal legends Megadeth have announced that the name of their forthcoming new studio album will be, "Endgame." The record will be released in September through Roadrunner Records.
Speaking on the album, frontman Dave Mustaine commented: "Thematically, I’ve never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President’s legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document which was signed into law, named ‘Endgame,’ has been uncovered. The album Endgame is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed ‘Endgame’ -the document- into law. The album is also the perfect ‘ass- kicking’ music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!
"This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) Rust in Peace album. With this album, I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist Chris Broderick to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position, but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn’t wait to get into the studio and see what he could do."

Judas Priest To Headline Loud Park Festival
British heavy metal gods Judas Priest has been confirmed as the headliners for Japan's Loud Park Festival. The event takes place between October 17th and 18th in Tokyo. Megadeth Completes New Album
In a recent message from the studio, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine announced that the band has completed work on their new studio album. The message reads as follows:
"I'm at the studio right now, Vic's Garage, and we are done! We're just right now finishing the last couple of notes on the new record, and Andy (Sneap, producer)'s getting ready to pack his bags and head up to Los Angeles tomorrow to get ready to fly back home on Thursday. Man, this has been a long, grueling, enduring process but it's been so worth it, and I'm so excited. I'm more excited about this record then I've been in any record since back in the 1980s. I would say, probably since, well definitely since Rust In Peace there's nothing that's excited me this much - maybe Countdown (To Extinction), but this is just absolutely insane."
Megadeth, Slayer To Co-Headline "Canadian Carnage"

Megadeth Checks In with Recording Update
Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine, has checked in with the following recording update:
"Droogies!
"It has been one month since I got home from the Priest Feast! And in that time, we have unpacked, repacked for Germany, unpacked, repacked for Anaheim, unpacked, went into the studio and started writing and recording guitar and vocals.
"I have sang and played guitar, we have edited several songs from the block of music each song initially was, into new and individual arrangements on each song. I have played electric, and did rhythm only so far.
"Chris [Broderick] has played almost everyday, for all day once I grow tired, and he has played electric and acoustic. I went into the room that he was isolated in and he had his special little foot stand for his acoustic in the room and I said, 'Wassup Estoban!' (or whatever that dudes name is).
"I have sang seven songs and with the instrumental track equally eight, there is only three more songs to sing and the vocals are done for the Domestic release. I will need to add one more song for the Japanese release. I also need to have a B-song, and I am trying to salvage a song that we opted against for this record. This was song that Shawn [Drover] wrote and I just didn't like it. I opted to not do it; and then I started to get another idea, like I told them, and to let me see what i come up with.
"Well, Andy [Sneap] and I have come up with something that I think is better, and I will just have to wait and see.
"I have to get going to get to the studio on time, and its also getting close to the time that we are going to officially announce the tour dates coming up next. Stay tuned for more, and check out my number for TheLIVELine.com."
The new Megadeth album is expected to be released in September.
