Background
Mainman Nergal was only 14 when he formed Behemoth back in 1991. The three- piece quickly made a name for themselves in the black metal community with their second demo “From The Pagan Wastelands” (1993) and mini album “And The Forests Dream Eternally” (1994).
Behemoth’s first LP “Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)” came out through the Polish underground label Pagan Rec. in 1995 and gained a positive response which resulted in a new record deal with the German label Solistitium Rec. Their second album “Grom” saw the light of day in 1996 and remains their most controversial release to date, mainly because of the incorporation of female vocals and acoustic guitars.
The third release “Pandemonic Incantations” saw the addition of the very talented drummer Inferno and marked the band’s vastly improved musicianship and production. In the fall of 1998, after an extensive European tour, Behemoth signed to the Italian label Avantgarde Music. With the highly successful “Satanica” (1999), the group ventured into the realm of death metal by replacing the raspy black metal screeches with a forceful growl. Thanks to this remarkable release and the attention it gained, Behemoth secured two European tours with Deicide and Satyricon.
In the years to follow, Behemoth maintained the same pace by releasing a consistent string of intense album, which further combined their early black metal influences with the ferocity and technicality of death metal. With “Thelema.6” (2000) the band continued to expand musically and lyrically. Vocalist and lyricist Nergal was aided by poet Krzysztof Azarewicz in his efforts to achieve a sophisticated and intimate obscurity. “Thelema.6” was the first of Behemoth’s albums to be released in U.S. through Olympic Records.
Touring opportunities with bands like Nile, Morbid Angel and Carpathian Forest began to pour in. In 2001 the band made its debut at the most prestigious European summer festival- Wacken.
“Zos Kia Cultus (Here And Beyond)” was released in 2003 and furthermore established the band’s undeniable potential and creativity. Rave reviews started to flow in and Behemoth made its North American live debut at the New Jersey March Metal Meltdown festival. The several nationwide tours that followed ( with bands like Deicide, Amon Amarth, Danzig and Six Feet Under) and the release of the Conjugation EP, all helped make 2003 a breakthrough year for Behemoth.
In 2004 they released a DVD called Crush.Fukk.Create, followed by their latest studio album “Demigod” ( featuring guest appearance by Nile’s Karl Sanders). Again, it received great praise in the media. In addition, the group’s first video “Conquer All” debuted on Headbandger’s Ball.
In early 2005, Behemoth embarked on an extensive North American tour with Suffocation, King Diamond and Nile.

Behemoth Issues Recording Update
Behemoth has issued the following update about the recording process for their new album:
"Behemoth is close to finish tracking down guitars for their next, yet untitled album. This time Woytek and Slawek Wieslawscy from Studio Hertz are co-producing guitars.
“Works are in progress, everything is goin’ just smooth. We get along real fine and I believe we found a killer tone for each guitar!” comments Woytek Wieslawski.
“It’s been five days of recordings and we nailed 3 songs already. We lay down 3 rhythm guitars on each side, sometimes even more.” Adds Woytek’s brother, Slawek.
“We use Mesa Boogie Road King, Sammatone and Diezel Herbert. First two amps are used by Behemoth live so we are bringing some of this live vibe to the record too. Diezel is there just to spice up the overall sound…
“This is the most relaxing and at the same time most creative studio session I’ve ever been a part of. These guys are very effective and they work incredibly fast! Both are very anal bout details so now my guitars for the first time ever don’t sound sloppy haha. We found some fresh sounding guitar tones and mixed it up together… I’m using this new custom amp Sammatone that was built for me in US and it sounds just amazing! I’m a long time Mesa Boogie fan so I’m using Road King as a main sound. We mix it with Diezel Herbert. I’m sure there’s some new quality made here!” comments Nergal."

Behemoth Enters The Studio
Polish black metal favourites Behemoth has entered the studio to begin work on a brand new studio album. New drummer Daniel Bergstrand comments: "The drums from beyond hell are miked up and ready to get whipped. I’m super happy with what we got so far... a lethal Polish bulldozer! I’m sure you guys will dig it! The drums are going to be tracked here in Radio Gdansk during next two weeks and after that I will start mixing them and get them ready for the final mix that will happen somewhere around May. We used 22 channels for the drums, it sounds very organic and natural and at the same time, VERY much in your face with a lot of attack. The room in this studio is amazing so the 2 ambience microphones that we've got are playing a big roll in the over all sound. Prepared to get blown away by the final result!!! Cheers!"

Behemoth To Enter The Studio Next Month
Polish black metal act Behemoth will enter the studio next month to record a brand new album. The band has not yet announced an album title but frontman "Nergal" says they have written roughly nine songs so far. The album is expected to be released this autumn through Nuclear Blast Records.
Behemoth's Nergal Talks About Writing Process
Behemoth is in the final stages of the songwriting process for their upcoming, yet untitled album. The record is tentatively expected sometime in the fall via Metal Blade (US), Nuclear Blast (Europe). Nergal and Co. are planning to enter the studio in the middle of February. The band’s mainman has issued a following report:
“As I write this, we have seven songs that are completely written and arranged though there’s still leads missing in some of them. It all sounds tight as fuck and very fresh! There are two more songs under working so after New Year break we should start working on it. I want this album to be very consistent, intense and catchy at the same time. Judging by what what’s been composed so far, that’s exactly where we are with this new material.“
“Last year was a very productive year for all of us…we’ve toured US, Australia and New Zealand, covered most of prestigious festivals in Europe and invaded virgin markets in Asia: Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand. It was also the first time since ages that I managed to take two months off from any band activity. I traveled a lot, recharged my batteries and decompressed myself. I’ve been collecting ideas, riffs and pieces of lyrics throughout the whole 2008 but it was in October where I seriously kicked my ass and started full on work on the album. It went pretty rough in the very first stages but the more stuff was written the smoother it went.”
“I must confess that I’m way more excited about this record than I was for “The Apostasy”. It’s probably the whole label situation that we had to deal back then, Inferno’s injury that caused crazy deadlines that completely drained the energy out of my system… I even started treating that album as unwanted child. Weird, because from time perspective it’s a great one. This time though everything was planned much in advanced. I found time to live my life, get some energy back, get inspired and so on…when we met in October it was obvious that all of us were really hungry for making new music. It’s definitely 100% Behemoth. I would risk saying that we do have our own style but it’s still improving, evolving in different directions every time we approach new project. Most of the songs are the really fast, technical and intense, at the same time there’s a lot of diversity. There’s even a very slow, massive song that’s probably the most epic tracks in Behemoth’s history. Everything sounds more serious and…dangerous (I love that word, ha ha). There’s probably more sinister vibe in our music this time too. I’m completely stoked and I just can’t wait until we enter the studio!”
A new photo album has been added to the band's MySpace, featuring shots from the rehearsal session.
Behemoth Redesigns MySpace Page
Polish metal act Behemoth has issued the following update:
"Hail, I know I’m a bit late with this, but I present to you the new and improved Behemoth MySpace page. It’s based on the theme for the new release – EZKATON. (Get it while you can.)
"Let me know what you think and keep checking for updates."
Slayer, Manson And More Rumoured For Rockstar Tour
The Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour will return next year and it looks like Marilyn Manson will surface to co-headline the event with Slayer. Also tapped for the bill are Trivium and Behemoth. More details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
Behemoth Frontman, Nergal Posts Tour Recap
Nergal, frontman of Polish black metal band Behemoth has posted the following message online:
"I’m writing this while sitting and waiting for our flight back to Poland from Amsterdam. I’m slowly “digesting” this experience from past few days and even though it was quite a struggle, big smile comes up on my face... I can honestly say that we’re happy and satisfied.
"The tour kicked off in Japan and it went great. We waited for ages to come down there but for some reason there was never enough interest from either the labels or promoters to organize Behemoth show or even license any of our previous records. I seriously started thinking that we suck, ha ha.
"But things changed a lot with our last album The Apostasy that was picked up by JVC. Creative Man Agency from Tokyo along with The Flames Arts from Belarus joined forces to made the impossible possible: we finally landed in Japan! First impression was seriously striking, it’s such an exotic place…everything, cultural differences to architecture were vast, and I’m sure none of us have ever seen anything like that before. Our stay was planned and organized with every detail and most importantly the show itself went really smooth…we gathered around 400 kids and the feedback couldn’t be disappointing at all. Japanese are fuckin’ sick and can seriously kick ass! I’m happy to finally see some following we’re finally gaining in this part of the world and it can only keep us motivated. More...
