Behemoth's Nergal Talks About Song Writing Process For New Album

Band Photo: Behemoth (?)
Behemoth is in the final stages of the songwriting process for their upcoming, yet untitled album. The record is tentatively expected sometime in the fall via Metal Blade (US), Nuclear Blast (Europe). Nergal and Co. are planning to enter the studio in the middle of February. The band’s mainman has issued a following report:
“As I write this, we have seven songs that are completely written and arranged though there’s still leads missing in some of them. It all sounds tight as fuck and very fresh! There are two more songs under working so after New Year break we should start working on it. I want this album to be very consistent, intense and catchy at the same time. Judging by what what’s been composed so far, that’s exactly where we are with this new material.“
“Last year was a very productive year for all of us…we’ve toured US, Australia and New Zealand, covered most of prestigious festivals in Europe and invaded virgin markets in Asia: Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand. It was also the first time since ages that I managed to take two months off from any band activity. I traveled a lot, recharged my batteries and decompressed myself. I’ve been collecting ideas, riffs and pieces of lyrics throughout the whole 2008 but it was in October where I seriously kicked my ass and started full on work on the album. It went pretty rough in the very first stages but the more stuff was written the smoother it went.”
“I must confess that I’m way more excited about this record than I was for “The Apostasy”. It’s probably the whole label situation that we had to deal back then, Inferno’s injury that caused crazy deadlines that completely drained the energy out of my system… I even started treating that album as unwanted child. Weird, because from time perspective it’s a great one. This time though everything was planned much in advanced. I found time to live my life, get some energy back, get inspired and so on…when we met in October it was obvious that all of us were really hungry for making new music. It’s definitely 100% Behemoth. I would risk saying that we do have our own style but it’s still improving, evolving in different directions every time we approach new project. Most of the songs are the really fast, technical and intense, at the same time there’s a lot of diversity. There’s even a very slow, massive song that’s probably the most epic tracks in Behemoth’s history. Everything sounds more serious and…dangerous (I love that word, ha ha). There’s probably more sinister vibe in our music this time too. I’m completely stoked and I just can’t wait until we enter the studio!”
A new photo album has been added to the band's MySpace, featuring shots from the rehearsal session.

I've been a fan of behemoth since Zos Kia Cvltvs. Nergal is the reason I picked up a guitar to play something that wasn't Nu-Metal.
Even I have to admit, though The Apostasy was a good album, they didn't really top Demigod. So if Nergal is saying that this is better, then it must be. In either case, I anticipate this new album with fervor.
Now Playing: Dead Can Dance - Cantara (I also have covers from a tribute album which are equally good. This is one of the few non-Metal artists I appreciate.
And yes, this is SexBloodandMetal/Christf***er/Azazel_begotten/whatever other names I've used since I've been on MU. Basically, once in awhile I like having a change, as most of you know. I'll register this handle eventually. In either case I'm gonna go out and live some life. Horns up!

B.T.K. -- I've been wondering where you went, dude. Glad to see you're okay.
As for Behemoth, I can't wait for the new CD, but I'm still not burned out on their last few releases.. I picked up "Ezkaton" a few weeks ago and it's holding me over just fine for now.
Now playing: Gorgoroth - "Slottet I det Fjerne"

I can't wait for them to hit the studio either! It sounds like the new album is going to be killer. Oh, and the music video for "Inner Sanctum" was one of my favorite music videos of 2008. They have a nice atmospheric vibe to their music, so I expect the new album will be excellent if they follow through with their new ideas. Good stuff.

Oh come on! Christf***er was such an awesome name!
Oh well, personal preferences and all. At least I know its you this time, as opposed to last time, when it took me like 4 months to realize Sex Blood Metal and CF were the same f***ing person.
Behemoth makes me happy. whether it be brutal death metal or epic trumpets followed by brutal death metal(lol), these guys are fantastic.
I can only hope for the best off this new album. Nothing like touring the entire world to get the creaative musical inspiration juices flowing.

The only 2 Dissection albums I have are "Storm of the Lights Bane / Where Dead Angels Lie" and "The Somberlain." Both are excellent, but I know Nodtveidt (sp?) and company have a few more albums out, too. I've heard excellent things about "Reinkaos," but haven't heard any tracks from it.

I'm trying to be more present on the site and eventually more active as well (reviews, etc) I needed a break to get the new job, condo, personal life, etc in order...Things are falling into place for me so I'm visiting as often as I can.
I've definitely broadened my horizons since this time last year. Gotten into more black metal, tech-death and doom lately. With overtime in effect I'm still very busy, but if I get laid off in the near future (seeming likely) I'll have way more time to devote to the site....So in a weird way I'm kinda hoping to be jobless for the first time since I was 16.
Now Playing: Arsis - "Painted Eyes"

The best way to do it is ask Deathbringer or one of the staff in a post and we'll route it to him. I'll pass the word. Also, to be on the safe side, try out the About Us key in the menu near the top of the screen. Theres a link that lets you send an email to the site and Deathbringer will take it from there.

Gracias, actaully need to check out Watains older material, I only know them through the new one.
Now Playing: Arsis - "Worship Depraved"

1) Whoever asked if it was me, yes I'm in the profile picture
2) Jon Nodtveidt (Dissection frontman) killed himself in a satanic ritual (Eastern Satanism, not LaVey's Crowleyan ripoff). I remember having posted in that article about his death. I just got Reinkaos when he died and "Black Dragon" was my favorite song off the thing.
3) I actually forgot that Quorthon died. Wow...Blood Fire Death was excellent!

Sounds dangerously intriqueing the next saga recordings for BEHEMOTH's newest album/Cd (to be release at the end of 2009, I quess. The studio session photo's mentioned above "must-click" on the myspace area though were very "blissfully" breathtaking photo's of the band members Seth, Orion, Nergal & Inferno (he grew a beard) at work...'they look quite handsome/yet still dangerous without that Battle gear-paint on them. Awesome, b&w photos of Behemoth, very handsome young men/musicians they are. Peace & it's nice to know that they took a two month holiday after so many "neon" yrs of touring the scope of the World. I wonder did they take any Sumuria promo shots while touring in Japan/China in late 2008...'and will those be reveal in time, the leader Nergal mentioned they had time to take promo shots in Japan but I quess when the time is right he will give the go ahead yet until then it's kept secret. I'm patient. Thanks for the other "bliss" pictures though in the recording sessions. Cheers, from a quiet fan.
