tru that carzedminded.
but khanate thats a stupid comment, pro tools is simply a medium for recording, just b/c you use protools doesnt me your "bad" i mean how many metal bands have enough money to pay for 2 inch tape? you realize for a 16 min roll of tape its now 200 dollars if you can find a good deal? harddrive space is free and reuse able. the fact that they use protools has nothing to do with being overproduced. infact digital interfaces now record up to 92k bitrate and cd quality is 16k! even 24k is THX quality. pro-tools sounds everybit as good as tape and is so much cheaper it just makes since to go digital. its not about what you use but how you use it.

Well get used to Killswitch Engage - they are rumored to be writing yet another album. The first and second albums were phenomenal, in my opinion. End of Heartache was good, but I eventually got tired of it(too much melody). I don't have a comment on their latest album. We will have to wait to see how good this new album will be.

alive or just breathing is one of my favorite albums ever and the first one was awesome but there other stuff is ok to boring and it is a bit overproduced (by fault of a human, not recording medium).
and last albums i remember being recorded on tape were converge - jane doe and ozzy's down to earth and those albums do sound great i mean analog tape has a GREAT sound but digital is so good you cant tell the difference. plus ive worked with tape and its a b**** not only that the tracks bleed through to the other side of the tape thats touching it. and you can hear that on older records you'll hear the music faintly start playing 5 seconds or so ahead of when it actually comes in and splicing that stuff together horridly annoying compared to being able to just copy and paste. i mean i may be a bit biased to digital seeing is how i own a digi 002 and im on protools recording everyday or so i mean i even program all my drums cause i dont know drummers good enough to play it. and protools and every other recording software is built to model a tape machine basically. so maybe im just a digital nerd but id definitally say its better when it comes to being user-friendly and as far as sound quality digital is just as better.

Well I listen to lot's of black metal and doom and most of that stuff sounds raw and real. I wasn't really saying Killswitch are bad their better than Coldplay haha, but it just seems the latest album they released just sounds exactly like a Parkway Drive or Unearth disc. The worst bands for sounding so tight and over produced are Beneath The Massacre.
Now Playing - Levaithan - Massive Conspiracy Against All Life
19. writes:
Khante: Again I agree with Lord. The "raw" sound has nothing to do with pro tools vs. analog. Some (usually rhythm section) will argue that analog is "warmer" than digital, but all in all; digital is better, faster, and easier to work with. Especially in today's studios. In most cases, you really don't have much of a choice. The studios are set up for digital.

it never fails. you always have to sit through sh**ty bands to see the ones you like. i'll have punched one of those scene kid f***s in the head by the time slayer comes around, thats if any of them even have the balls to stay for slayer.
i'd love to see some hardcore dancer get decked in the face for trying to queer it up at slayer.

You can talk about scene kids, mainstream, underground, whatever...
bottom line is that every big fest type show, Mayhem, Ozzfest, Warped, Gigantour...will have some bands from each of the groups i wrote above. Diversified line-ups help fill the venue. Concerts are put on to make money. enjoy the bands for what they are, if you don't like a particular band, do what I do, go take a piss, then go grab a beer.
also, im sure many of you have discovered some band your into now by seeing them open for someone else. that's how i first heard God Forbid, they opened a show I was at many years ago
25. writes:
^couldnt agree with Brian's post 24 more.
Every big fest is ognna have sh** you love, and sh** you hate. you just gotta balance it out and weigh how badly you want to see the bands you like.
For exapmle, I hate Job for a cowboy(alot), Bullet, Killswitch, and all that remains.
Not really a fan of Whitechapel or god Forbid, just certain qualities of their music throws me off.
Hate trivium, but their live show is just fine with me, they are definitly not a reason to avoid a show.
LOVE FVCKIN SLAYER.
Cannibal corpse i have to see just for the novelty of it. Black Dahlia Murder I'm alright with, one or two songs ake me happy, though the overall band doesnt tickle my fancy too much, but I hear their live show is fantastic.
I think I love Behemoth as much as I do Slayer right now. Seriously. I dont know how it happened, but it did, and I love them.
4 reasons to not go, 4 neutral bands for me. 3 reasons to go. EXCEPT I MUST SEE THOSE THREE BANDS. so....Judges decision: I'm f***ing going. And If I can hit the lead singer to Bullet for my Vagina with a water balloon full of period blood, then all the better. :)
Now Playing: Behemoth- Nephilim Rising

Exactly. i've said this before in the last Mayhem story here. if you Blackmetalgoddess dont like it, then don't go lol. personally i've never had a problem with a band/musician so much for them saying something against a metal genre... all people have their own opinion, and don't have to conform to what someone else says.
Now listening to: Human Hive - Anterior

That's a incrediable line-up of powerhouse energizer Metal extreme bands that will surely make this summer 2009 Rockstar Mayhem Tour Fest sizzle, rattle & sizzle some more: Killswitch Engage are a fine choice (as are "all" the other bands on the billing mentioned above: legendary bands Behemoth & Cannibal Corpse that's gonna be very outrageous & killer trailblazing huh!? My goodness/makes the heart zoom!!! smile.) to be added onto this "voracious" Concert billing to open up for the legendary-Pioneer band SLAYER & haunting Marilyn MANSON. Peace!

BlackMetalGoddess- I have always wondered how some people seem to know what is popular at Hot Topic when they use that as an insult. My understanding is that the only way to know what is in a Hot Topic is to shop at one. I have been to the mall probably three times in the past 10 years and those three times stayed far away from the Hot Topic store. Do you send spies into the Hot Topic to update you on what bands merchandise is being sold there? Or do you call the store and ask for an inventory? I would like to know.
33. writes:
BlindGreed- Right on dude. Personally even though I pass the a mall everyday on the way to work I never even consider going into it. All my money goes to bills, music and catchin a buzz (in that order). The mall really doesn't offer much. I usually go down to the beach and hit up the independent record stores. But depending on your area that may not be an option with all the indie stores closing so I understand. Actually, about 8 miles from me there is a killer used LP store right next door to a medical marijuana dispenserie. When my card carrying buddy goes to pick up I hitch a ride and go to the record store and shop while he gets his buds. Fvck, I am going to call him right now.

Bruno: I'm in the mall for gift giving seasons (only) usually, but while i'm there I check out the T's at the Hot Topic. They had a couple of Tool shirts there that I had never seen before (or since) I picked them up. Oddly enough, one of my forvorite's was lost at the last Ozzfest somewhere around the KSE stage and BLS. I eneded up spending some time in the first aid tent (because it was about 115 degrees that day in Phx and I was drinking beer... Water rusts your pipes).

Good luck with the blood drive FAN...Little chicks don't produce much.
You're gonna have to find some wide women and large ladies having...(lol) a 'heavy' day....The physics/logistics of it....eww, I just disgusted myself.
Now Playing:...why not...Cannibal Corpse - "f***ed with a Knife"

Kerry King is an attention whore....plain and obvious... He will always have a loud mouth. He would talk shxt about Machine Head back in the day, and my friends and I spammed the hell out of the Slayer board-it actually was brought down for maintenance..LOL..Slayer is not my favorite band, but yeah, Kerry likes being a d***! I would post statements like Kerry King gorges on Machine Head's ....well you get the picture..lol. My friend gave me the ideas, though. Needless to say, we made a lot of enemies on the slayer board. Good times!!
39. writes:
weird, when i think attention whore, Peter Dolving comes to my mind first, not Kerry King. And after Peter Dolving, is Slipknot. Slipknot aren't attention whores as much as they are a bunch of angsty babies.
kerry king isn't even that good at leads. I dont understand why he has all the sponsors and jeff henneman doesnt, since i've always thought jeff was the better guitarist.
np: Krisiun- Whore of the Unlight
SOUTHERN STORM KICKS SO MUCH ASS.
40. writes:
^Kerry King has all the sponsors because he markets himself. He talks crap in interviews, making sure everybody knows his opinions on EVERYTHING. He appears in all the interviews with Tom araya. Then he goes out and does photo shoots so he can appear in magazines and whatnot everywhere.
Jeff, on the other hand, just seems to sponsor the brands of equipment he uses just enough so he can use them for free basically. Henneman may be a better guitarist, but let's just say Kerry King learned a few tricks watching Gene simmons do his magic over the years...
Last statement though...nailed it. that cd DOES kick so much ass. That song specifically makes me drool. Krisiun wasnt apreciated as much as they should have by me until I bough Southern Storm. What a great decision by me to buy that cd. Congratulations me, If I dont say so myself. :P

53. writes:
Hey 37 - yeah I know that, that is why I didn't go into details. I just had to agree with Black Goddess that Kerry is a jerk...just agreeing with her on that. It just goes to show that KK likes to talk shxt..all the time. Robb Flynn will always be the better man...because Flynn, in my eyes, cares about the fans.
55. writes:
To comment # 31: yes, I do go to the mall and I do go into Hot Topic. My boyfriend and I go and look around, buy incense and crap on the clothes and the metal shirts that are obviously rip-offs of the originals. I've known people who shop there and work there. Is there a problem with that? It's called KNOW YOUR ENEMY. It's quite informative.
56. writes:
Hot Topic just makes me feel old and too normal. Plus, why go in and look if you are too broke to buy anything?
Going back to the ProTools thing. Another use for ProTools is this. If you are going to play or sing the same part(s) a few times, you can just loop it in for when you need it. Fear Factory used ProTools, and they f***ing kill it when they perform their stuff live.
