All tho I do like CC Barnes era better, I also like Corpse Grinder a lot. The new album sounds a lot like the Kill album so I'm gonna have to listen to it some more. I think Hammer Smashed Face is the most popular Death Metal song but not the best. I do love the song but I don't think its #1.

LOL. death ablilties. Awesome.
I like Arch Enemy more than any other band on their. But I wouldn't even put them in the death metal genre to begin with. Either way I've never liked CC.

arch enemy?? never, for me the greatest death metal song would be nile's "unas slayer ov the gods" sepultura playing thrash i can agree on that u know the played everything that's why i think they are the best metal band of all time, death, thrash, crossover, numetal, hardcore they played it all!!

I have cannibal corpse on my myspace friends, and they promoted the sh** iout of this poll on their bulletins and whatnot. i also have Vader and Amon Amarth and everybody else on the top ten in my friends list, and not a single one of those bands, nor the other few hundred bands that were on this poll promoted it at all.
It was a popularity quiz. probably only 10% of the people who saw the poll actually kne wevery song listed, and at least 50% of the people on here got to it solely because of cannibal Corpse's promotion. Most of those people in he latter group probably voted on cannibal corpse. the rest probably voted on what they legitamately thought was the best song.
Not to mention the fact that you could vote once every 24 hours. that probably screwed the sh** outta the actual polling.
I personally voted for Amon amarth and a Deicide song. there were better bands on there, but to me, they listed the wrong songs. I think they listed Once upon the cross for Deicide, but I wanted f*** your God just for the novelty. :)

So, we're talking straight death metal then? No hybrids/innovators? I just want to be clear because I'd have liked Opeth somewhere in the top ten, but they're prog death, correct? Or are they prog doom? I've read black before too. Blasted genres. Opeth should be on any top ten!

CC Being number 1 totally agree. H.S.F. is a staple. I personally like corpsegrinder better. It's nice to see Kataklysm on the list. I have always liked them. I do agree with Carcass being on the list I just don't agree with the song that was picked. Some Morbid Angel would have been nice too.

I like CC, but their new album isn't as good as KILL or Wretched Spawn.
I kinda agree with that top 10 list, but Arch Enemy's "we will rise" isn't the best song they have. "Nemesis" is. Behemoth, I think it's okay. Morbid Angels are awesome.
nonetheless, Hammer Smashed Face is the best on the list i think

Anyways, In Flames definitly deserved the Top Ten...but I don't think CC should have gotten it...in my opinion, the best death metal song was Fermented Offal Discharge by Necrophagist...or at least on the top list. They are an amazing technical death metal band. If not that then Horizon's of Chaos I by The Faceless.

Same kind of debate goes on regarding Sepultura's Derrick Green, VS Soulfly's Max Cavalera. I think it is stupid to hate/dislike a band because they don't have their old vocalist anymore. I happen to like both Sepultura and Soulfly. The new Sep Album is awesome. I don't like Cannibal Corpse, however, I do like Six Feet Under. Chris Barnes is incredible. With that said, though, I have no problem with Corpsegrinder Fisher. He seems like a pretty cool guy, and he is just an everyday guy who happens to love WoW. Just fukin' enjoy the music for what it is! METAL 2009!!

IWrestledABearOnce, great pick on the Necrophagist track. In terms of The Faceless, they may be cool but there are tens of bands who drew blood and sweat to build death metal which have been forgotten. It should have looked at least something like SHREDDER's list.
Then again, kids think death metal seems to be just some waffly term for anything heavier than the black album these days...

WOO!!! Hammer Smashed Face! That was the one on the Jim Carey movie, Ace Ventura yeah? lmfao.
I personally think these polls are pointless, but i would have voted for 'Christians to the Lions' coz it sounds funny. the name that is, i havent heard the song. and, i was always told that Sepultura are thrash metal, and this is a DM poll...

AHAHAHA!
The reason why it isn't a song from the Cumdrinker era is because CC turned into mallcore rats. Ever since bob russay and chris barnes left, so did the TALENT! After Pat O'brien's comment on touring with korn, they are officially beneath the f***ing slipknot.

I'm well pleased with that as it was prior to George Knobgrinder's association with CC, and besides that, it's from one of the most legendary death metal albums TotM...
