Panopticon Issues Band Activity Update
Vocalist A.Lundr of atmospheric black metal act Panopticon has issued the following update about the band's upcoming releases:
"Friends, it's been a long time and I feel the need to let you guys know what I have been so busy with. After our hand fasting this fall,my wife Bekah and I traveled through Sweden and Norway, hiking and camping in the vast forests, mountains, and coastal areas of Scandinavia. We returned refreshed and with a renewed perspective. I spent much of the time since then writing and touring with Seidr, mixing the (now in the process of being mastered) ‘on the subject of mortality’ and getting ready for what is to come. I know some of you feel that I have a tendency to take on more that I can handle, so what follows will certainly fuel your fire.
"In march: Panopticon:collapse lpx2(at press!!) limited to 500 copies on color vinyl in a gatefold lp with new artwork, this record features a bonus track with guest vocals by Rob ‘the Baron’ Miller of the legendary AMEBIX. Out on Flenser Records in March. Pre-order up soon.
"‘collapse’ album cover shirts. I have always wanted an album cover shirt done in halftones and multi-colored print. Printed by Kevin Tucker from Peregrine. Pre-orders up soon. (pagan flames)
"This Spring: Panopticon:S/T CD reissue ft. an all new layout with new art, liner notes in a deluxe jewel case edition. No hand screened sticky mess to get stuck to your cd collection this time. (pagan flames)
"Panopticon/when bitter spring sleeps split CD: ‘on the subject of mortality’ part one (3 tracks) and 3 tracks by When Bitter Spring Sleeps with a bonus at the end. Photos by Bekah Lunn and layout by me. (pagan Flames)
"Panopticon/Seeds in Barren Fields split 7 inch: One new track by me ft. guest vocals from Deathmetal Dave of Seidr and new music by the crushing swedish blackened crusters Seeds in Barren Fields. Label needed for a split release with Lundr records. Get in touch if you are interested. Layout by me,photos by the talented Bekah Lunn.
"This Summer: 3 way split with Throndt and Skagos: The emotional conclusion of ‘on the subject of mortality’ along with exclusive tracks by Skagos and Throndt as well as amazing art by Sarah Frary. (Flenser records)
"Panopticon/ Peregrine split lp: vinyl only lp ft. an epic, long Panopticon track ‘Haunted America II’ and the brutal anarcho-primitivist death metal that only Peregrine can deliver. layout by me,photos by Bekah Lunn. (communitas records)
"Panopticon ‘on the subject of mortality’ Lp: Epic emotional body of work. Certainly my most personal and the favorite of my discography. Recorded by myself at the cricket cave and mastered by Skallehammeren. Guest vocals by Jack Hannert on ‘watching you’. This record takes a much more emotional, introspective turn with a raw, atmospheric production.Layout by me,photos by Bekah Lunn (Flenser records)
"Fall into winter: Split cd with Wheels within Wheels part II: Crow and I decided that we seem to work well together and we want to do one more split, this time reversing the stylistic roles. WWW will open up the split with a haunting acoustic track and continue on with his spiritual, sonic meditation. I will close the record with my heaviest, most melodic work yet. This record will be released as a limited cd, which will finance the release of a double lp set featuring both panopticon/wheels within wheels splits in a gatefold lpx2 version on Lundr records.
"That's the release schedule for the year. There is also a concept EP in the works, but that's way off. 2011 holds long hard work on the follow up full length to ‘collapse’ that will continue the concept of collapse with the help of Anarcho-primitivist writer/musician Kevin Tucker. More on that later.
"Thanks for your time and attention. I hope to see you all soon. For now, enjoy 2 tracks off of OTSOM, Just posted some new stuff on the player. Keep in mind that they are the unmastered versions, just as a sneak peak."
