Limp Bizkit's Original Lineup Reunites For New Album and Tour
Nu-metal band Limp Bizkit is reuniting their original lineup to record a new album and tour worldwide. The original line-up of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are back from an eight year hiatus. Fred Durst and Wes Borland said in a joint statement:
"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other. Regardless of where our separate paths have taken us, we recognize there is a powerful and unique energy with this particular group of people we have not found anywhere else. This is why Limp Bizkit is back."
The guys will kick off a world tour in the Spring on the overseas festival circuit with headline shows sprinkled in throughout Eastern Europe and Europe, selected dates include, in late May, Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltic countries where Limp Bizkit has never played before despite huge demand, along with major festivals like Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany. More dates will be announced shortly. A new album, which would be the original group’s first full-length effort since 2000, is also planned.
Limp Bizkit’s first three albums have sold over 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another 13 million in the rest of the world.

Disgusted and bored? Maybe things would have been better if you and your ilk hadn't stunted the growth of American Metal for 10 years.
Heavy popular music? Seriously? Is he saying "Heavy Pop isn't very good. Let's make it good."? Isn't that a bit like saying "Turds taste terrible. Let's make turds taste good."?

I confess, I bought their first CD for around $6 because of the price and because I was told they sounded like Korn. Well I don't think they sounded like Korn (who I liked back then) and didn't like the CD. Not even sure if I still have it or sold it.
My favorite memory of this band was at Ozzfest one year - they were totally not getting the crowd support and then they started playing a Korn song (Ball Tongue I think) for like 15-20 seconds and the crowd got up and was cheering and they were all let down when the band stopped.

And here comes token LB fan.... OMG! YOU GUYS DON'T NO NETHING! LIMP BIZKIT IS DA GREATEST BAND EVER EVAR AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM DEN U DON'T NO NUFING ABOUT MUSIC!
Ok, on a serious note. First off, Thrashbanger, I bought their stuff when it first came out and I continue to buy it today. I love Limp Bizkit but realize that 99% of the people on this site hate them, which is cool with me, music is all about opinion. Speaking of opinion, I happen to agree with their statement about music today. I've stated my boredom with the current music scene many times and personally, a Limp Bizkit reunion is something I and several friends of mine will enjoy.
"Just so long as they don't record any new matrial"
Ok, now if you'll look at the title of the article, your fears will be confirmed.
Anyway, this makes me very happy but I have doubts about alot of other people lol. Lethal's gonna be mad busy this year what with La Coka Nostra aswell.

seriously? limp bisquick is coming to save heavy popular music? first off can someone give me some examples of heavy popular music because i'm not exactly sure what that is though i have an idea (fallout boy, my chemical romance, kenny chesney, etc). second, wtf?

This is unbelievable, imagine trying to revive a dead genre, Wigger-Core...
I am guilty of purchasing $3 Dollar Bill Yall, and to be perfectly honest, I enjoyed it back then as it was a breath of fresh air, but I'll be damned if I'm going to even take a second glance at that sh!t.
For some, this may be a 'kewel' reunion, but there's got to be more than a couple people here that smell Fred's reasons for reuniting... You're about as real as a 3 dollar bill, Fred... haha

What is boreing about todays metal scene? In my eyes the scene is finally starting to become like the old days when bands were releasing classic albums on a year to year basis. Warbinger, Behemoth, Skeletonwitch, Nile, Iced Earth, Dismember, Exodus, Obituary, Holy Moses, Amon Amarth, Heaven and Hell, Kreator, the almighty Slayer, Destruction, Ayreon, Evergrey, Candlemass, Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Nevermore and hell I'll even throw in Lamb of God and God Forbid. All of these bands new and old have been makeing of playing great metal over the past decade. Why in the hell do we need Nu-metal back when we still have Metal/Death-core to deal with. At least that stuff can be endured in small amounts.

MY theory is that they've been living under rocks and must think nickleback and hinder are "Popular heavy music" b/c them being bored with actual metal doesnt really make sence... i mean limp bizkit could never play anything like lamb of god, killswitch, nile, opeth, even slipknot could play...you would think they would be amazed and awestruck that people actually know how to write songs and play there instruments as opposed to masterbating into a microphone. and who the f*** wants to hear more rap metal? i dont know who does but im sure all 3 of them will be circle jerking to this unfortunate news. If theres one thing i want to achieve before i die, i would like to be the final nail in fred dursts coffin.

i dont like slipknot at all but its a breath of fresh air compared to limp bizkit. but it really doesnt matter whats popular or not they'll never be able to ruin Real metal b/c they'll never be able to play real metal so let them flail and rap all they want ill never see or hear them

Alot of the bands you mentioned there are good Thrashbanger, I love Slayer, Kreator, Destruction and that but the thing is those bands have been around for a long time and alot of kids (I'll include myself in that, being the age of 19) don't listen to alot of the really good older stuff. The new thrash bands like Warbringer and Evile aren't bad, but they don't bring anything new to the table so they often get discarded pretty quickly, again, myself included in that. Alot of the younger but popular bands of today such as Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage and Children Of Bodom are pretty boring to some people, once more, myself.. well you know by now. Maybe live some of the popular bands are really good but I saw KSe a few years ago and was bored sh**less. I'd much rather have nu-metal back than put up with metal/deathcore, I can't even stand that in small doses. I'd rather see a revival of Limp Bizkit, Sevendust, Drowning Pool and SOiL then the continued success of As I Laying, The Black Dahlia Murder and the like.

28. writes:
yea sure thrash and metalcore maybe be boring compared to death and black metal but how can you call your self a "metal" fan if you'd rather hear nu-metal than The Black Daliah Murder? i mean there not even as metal core as you make them out to be there so death metal its insane. they are one of the best bands out there today and are not boring...if you've been to one of there shows you gotta know it aint for punks but if you go to a limp show you got a punch of eminem posers jumping around yelling nookie...and that is why diamond_oz you just lost all your metal street cred. Plus like i said black daliah is hardly metalcore at all. there death metal at its finest. So you lose even more metal street cred for illegal Genre grouping.
enjoy being buttf***ed by fred durst!

30. writes:
"diamond_oz you just lost all your metal street cred"
Hahaha, I liked that, that was good.
One. This isn't a street, it's a website.
Two. Who the f*** are you?
Three. Since we don't know each other, how can we know how much "cred" each other has.
Four. I worded that wrong perhaps, I was lumping BDM in the deathcore genre moreso than metalcore and as I said, it's my opinion and opinions are what makes music interesting.
Five. I at no point said thrash was boring. In fact I had tickets to see Overkill and Exodus next week but I have to sell mine due to some problems, but that's not important right now.
Six. I don't like black metal and only like a handful of death metal bands. That's just my tastes. You like whatever you wanna like, I don't feel the need to police people for being themselves.
Seven. I couldn't give a sh** about "metal street creed". I don't have to impress you or anybody else in the world of metal, which contains people who are so far up their own arse as to what's "metal" and what isn't and who is metal and who isn't, and how to be "metal" and so on.
That'll do for now

32. writes:
Ok, let's pick this apart a little more. What part of my writing makes you think I'm a fag? More to the on the subject matter, if you can, give me a reason why you don't like Limp Bizkit without simply saying "They suck", "They're sh**", "They're gay", "They're wiggers." I've given my reasons why I don't like Black Dahlia Murder and Killswitch Engage, I find them boring and the sound doesn't appeal to me. Now explain to me, what part(s) of Limp Bizkit you don't like. I don't really care if you like them or not, just interested to see if someone can finally give me a good reason for hating them.
33. writes:
the first disc was pretty good at the time, i liked the song pollution. i could care less if they put out a new disc or not...i'm not going to buy it.

35. writes:
Some people just hate the xcore sound, whether they prefer nu-metal or death metal instead (or drilling their brains out). The metal street cred thing was probably more joking than not, but unfortunately some people measure how "metal" others are and think that listening to something less metal makes them less of a metalhead. Considering all the non-metal roots that are within metal, that's a pretty narrow view really and I give no credence to those opinions. And even if someone only listens to lighter stuff now, it may change in time. Not everyone listens to Cannibal Corpse one day and decides they like it without warming up to some more accessible metal first.
36. writes:
Diamond Oz-
that will give LB their edge or whatever, it'll will help divide the pop-rock community helping them get more fans. Snot or some band similar will help with "metal street cred" and is old school (late 90"s) nu-metal that could bring back some fans. just my predictions
deathbringer-
that was deep man. jokes aside, agreed.^
Only one question remains....When will we get a Crazy Town reunion?!

on a serious note i do think its inapproprate to judge someone with a rating or how much "Cred" they have based on weather they like the same bands or even genres of music. to be honest somedays i just have nothing better to do than provoke people in forums. now that ive smoked ill probobly just be going to play video games for a while.
38. writes:
This is not directly necessarily towards Oz, but I would like your opinion: Do you think that the kids that listened to LB have moved on, and making a comeback won't necesarrily mean they start where they left off?
Prime example was Unquestionable Truth, although I don't consider that a valid attempt at a comeback.
Similar to the Smashing Pumpkins and their break up and subsequent reuinion, I feel that time has betrayed and will betray them. LB's legacy( for lack of a better word) should stay with what we remember of them. I loved their cd's when they came out, and still enjoy the occassional spin for memories sake, but I would not accept that music now because my tastes have changed. I believe nu-metal wouldn't make the same impact that it did because tastes have changed and frankly, if nookie came on the radio now, and I would be hearing it for the first time, I might change the station.
I think their "reason" for making a comeback isn't going to come to fruition like they would hope.

Oz has always been pretty cool guy Lord. He's always had the balls to say what he likes despite the backlash, yet always been respectful of others opinions as long as I've visited this site. In my eyes that's pretty cool. It's no secret I do not like any incarnation of "nu-metal", but I'm not going to begrudge Oz if he likes this band. There are definately more deserving trolls to verabally scrap with. I know we don't know each other but from your posts it seems like we have similar taste in metal.

As far as their level of success goes, I literally sent Kali a message about five minutes ago saying that the furthest I can see Limp Bizkit getting is as far as Korn are nowadays. Korn are still doing well, despite not putting out a good album in some time. Unless their next album is made of solid gold and contains the secret towards ending the recession, Limp Bizkit will never be as big as they once were. But they still have the potential to do well. They seem more focused this time around, so I reckon this new album could be their best since Chocolate Starfish.
As for the kids moving on, there's alot of people who liked Limp Bizkit in their prime and a smaller but still large number of fans during the Results May Vary era. The Unquestionable Truth received piss poor promotion and was also a radical change in sound from the songs I've heard, so I believe that contributed to that not working out so well. I think alot of the kids who liked LB back then, look back at them with a "Oh Christ, what the f*** was I thinking?" attitude, the same way that in a few years, My Chemical Romance fas will look back at themselves and feel extremely embarassed. They'll be people like me who never stopped loving Limp Bizkit going to see them, they'll be people who never got to see them coming out to check them out, they'll be people seeing them with their kids perhaps. I foresee them doing better with this album than the last but they'll never be as big as they used to be.

Ha ha - didn't bother to read the article either....ADHD big time...LOL.
Well - I didn't like Black Lights Burn, at all, but I think it is cool that LB is reuniting. They did make some pretty good music. It was highly original back in the day, but that is my opinion. Lord Ass- you need to fuxxin' grow up...what are you, like 12?? Oz is 19 - and he sounds more like an older person than you do.

Diamond Oz- Keep showin' the Limp Bizkit love dude. Fred Durst is probably my #1 answer to the question, "If you could kick any person in the balls who would it be?" but I respect you like them and all. I was 15 in 1999, so I was right in the middle of all the Limp bizkit "hoopla'.
It is safe to say that if I never saw another sideways red baseball cap I would die a happy man.
Anyway, go see them at Download and have a great time!

WES BORLAND REFUSES TO DO IT.
Just thought I would put that out there. Check out other articles.
(MusicRadar) Some folks might still be "down wit da Bizkit," but guitarist Wes Borland, who played with the critically maligned rap/nu metal band in the '90s, isn't one of them.
While leader Fred Durst and the rest of the Limp Bizkit are planning a reunion/comeback album (dubious on all levels, we must say), the group's popular ex-axeman Borland, who now leads his own industrial rock outfit, Black Light Burns, has told them not to expect to see him rollin' into the studio.
"I have no plans on working with Limp again," Borland told mlive.com. "It's better for me for sure. I'm having a great time doing Black Light Burns."

61. writes:
I think the last thing Limp Bizkit wants to do is talk bad about the metal community. Its suicide. All that they are going to do is piss off a huge group of people that might have supported their come back. The worst is pissing off other metal bands by saying "we're disgusted with the state of heavy metal music." Many metal bands have done well over the 8 years Limp Bizkit has been on hiatus and a few even had great comebacks such as Metallica.

So.... guess I'll jump into the fray - Of all the posts in this thread, Kali's 23 made me laugh the most.
Back in the day (i.e. before highschool), I god damn loved Limp Bizkit. No idea why, but I did. Metallica was my anchor to true metal however, I just grew out of everything else. I'm guessing a hell of a lot of people will want to see Limp Bizkit reform, hope they enjoy it.
"We decided we were [...] disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular" - I don't even need to say anything, the hilarity of that statement is self describing once you read that Limp Bizkit said it.
The Black Dahlia Murder has metalcore in their sound. It's slight, but strong enough for me to smell a mile away. Metalcore is the most frustrating thing in the world to me, it taints 90% of all new bands I might be interested in. I could both write a book about it and at the same time struggle to understand my own vehemence. Utterly respect the right to listen to what you want, but at the same time the thing I stand dislike the most is heavy metal trojan horses (filled with metalcore inside). I'm nonsensically rambling because I went to a show last night, now have lost all hearing and brain function.

Ok time to start sh**. I'm with diamond oz on this. I am an unashamed limp bizkit fan and I am happy that the whole orignal lineup is back. And If any of you say that I am not a metal fan and whatnot then you are wrong. I listen to everything, metal and hard rock wise. It's good to have diversity then to listen to one type of music. With that being said, Most of the nu metal stuff I listened to back in high school I still listen to this day. My taste in music has changed though. I have gotten into way heavier bands then what I listened to back in highschool. As far as me listening to heavier bands I have slipknot and devildriver to thank for that. Slipknot being the negative cause vol 3 suck a$$ and made me p***ed off, so I decided to look into heavier bands. I checked out devildriver cause of coal chamber and dez. That first devildriver record changed my views on metal that it can be really heavy screaming and not suck. Cause alot of the so called true metal bands sound like cookie monster on vocals ex lamb of god. So let the sh** talking begin

And Limpbizkits debut was front and center...
I was 17-18 at the time, well before the album charted on the cover song...and -KNEW- that the lyrics were bad and that it wasn't especially heavy but I -LIKED- it...I wasn't following the crowd--there wasn't one..I couldn't RELATE to it but by god I loved it anyway...I STILL don't understand, and I STILL own it...
It took an Opeth cdr (when those were new) from a girlfriend at the time in 1999 to fish me out of it....Still thank her for that.
Fred, Wes, Lethal etc need to leave it all behind. S'over.

I was a pretty big limp bizkit fan when they were at the top of their game, along with Korn and Metallica. While still regularly listening to Korn and Metallica, i dont know that limp bizkit will regain their status to even as much as korn are now- whick relies heavily on bringing along extra well known bands to their tours down here in Australia. If limp bizkit were to do a similar thing with bands that i liked, i dare say i'd go just to check them out just for the sake of hopefully seeing a good show. They were pretty good at Big Day Out when they performed there years ago, however I think they got outperformed by Rammstein.

Black Dahlia is one of those bands that, I know they're good at what they do, and I do like some songs, but I cant listen to them. Like cynic pointed out, the metalcore in it wont allow me to enjoy it. I've passed that point in my metal tastes where anything metalcore appealed to me at all, and now whenever i hear anything with that sound, all I can do is furrow my eyebrows. No problem with anybody else who listens to them, in fact, props, because I can tell they're the cream of the crop int heir niche of metal, but as for me....meh, I have behemoth, I'm good.
