Slipknot Lyrics Found At Site Of Grave Robbery

A grave was found robbed Tuesday morning at the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Kenneth Brooks, sexton of the cemetery, was working at about 11 a.m. that day when he found evidence of a crime unique in his experience.
"The ground was turned up," Kenneth Brooks said, on the recently laid grave of Justin Manning.
Manning died July 25 in a car wreck on I-70 near the I-435 exit when the pickup truck he was riding in rammed a highway sign pole.
The container with the ashes that had been in the grave was taken.
Manning's mother, Angela Bickham, said, "I don't know what I think now. It's unbelievable -- it's beyond even being able to comprehend how someone can kidnap an urn."
Bickham said she didn't know who could have robbed the grave. There had been some trouble at Manning's funeral, where his friends wanted to bury a hat and some CDs with his urn.
Bickham said she didn't want to name those friends while the police investigation is ongoing.
A note found nearby had lyrics to the song "Surfacing" by the heavy metal band Slipknot.
Brooks said "two or three" other notes had been found nearby when he noticed the dug up grave at about 11 a.m. Tuesday. The notes had blown away by the time Bonner Springs Police had arrived on the scene. Police officers, Brooks and other city staff then searched the cemetery for the other notes, to no avail.
"We've had trouble with this particular grave," Brooks said.
Schubert said ropes, still visible Tuesday morning, had been left earlier on the gravesite tied in nooses, "apparently by friends" of the deceased. A metallic-looking guitar pick was also found on the site, and a flower wrapped in plastic that appeared to have been left recently.
There were also footprints, Schubert said.
Brad Harrington, of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, which handled funeral arrangements for the deceased, said "the person who did it has no idea the damage they've inflicted. I feel sorry for the family."
At the funeral for the deceased, there had been a disturbance in which some of the attendees were "disrespectful," in Harrington's estimation. Harrington said he couldn't speculate as to whether the incident at the funeral was related to the grave robbery.
The Bonner Springs Police Department asks that anyone with information on the grave robbery call Detective Tim Pierce at 422-7800.

That's not a fan doing dumb sh**. When I Die, I want to be buried in my music, wearing my favorite clothes, and I want My favorite songs played. His Freinds knew how he wanted to go, his parents probably knew how he wanted to go, but were in denial. If my parents were to do this same stuff, I can only hope that my friends know the right way.

That's it.
We've gotta ban heavy music from the states now and forever.
It's making people crazy, making them do foolish things.
The music is warping their fragile little minds.
Oye, what would Jesus do?
Hahaha.
Everybody ready for these conceptions as they make their way into the popular media.... again?
yeah - not to mention urned ashes... c'mon guys, clearly not a case of necrophilia here, read the damn article.
I feel sorry for the family AND the friends. The friends just wanted to say goodbye in their own, heartfelt way. It was pretty snobbish of the family not to let them chuck a few cd's in there with the urn. But to have your dead son's ashes stolen...that can't be a happy day. Unless it was the mother?!?

blackblackmetal....you generally sound like an idiot....whats up with doggin on the KNOT...and just what do you presume your family will do when you die..?..have you stuffed and prop you in the corner so they can laugh at your idiotic corpse...why dont you go growl along with your balck metal CDs some more...black metal is for the losers that cant really sing....aahhhhhhrrrrrrrggggggg

I gotta say, I still kind of stick with the friends...What if the parents just generally f***ed everything up? Maybe he wanted his ashes scattered somwhere, or wanted to be buried somewhere else, and his parents didn't know him well enough to know that type of stuff?

Personally, I think if they wanted to have a ceremony to remember their friend “their” way – they should have done it without stealing the ashes. They could have just left the lyrics at the grave site in respect, or had another little memorial made. Duh. Dumb a-holes.

OK from what i see is that you all think it was the Friends who stole the Ern it could have been anyone. in the world we live in, its not what we listen to that controls us and how we feel its. what it means to us, if it was his Friends the probably dug him up Played the song and Got Drunk,or fell Asleep and someone took it with them by mistake, or toke it to bury somewhere else at another time, then again it could have been a Plot to get Slipknot Banned from the States, if so it was a Poorly thought out plan probably thought of while Drunk or high. and if the person who Stole it only wanted attention for any reason, maybe to have a Story of how his ashes were stolen and Slipknot was left in place of them, also if this is the kind of Result they were looking for then they have or will post something,in their own way that Justifies what they did,And whats the worst that could happen to them if they confess next week? not much.
PS. whats the point of Being Cremated if your going in to the ground anyway? They would have never gotten away with it if the Parents had not Cremated, and if Justin had wanted to be Cremated, then if it were the friends then he planed the entire thing him self and that may have been the Way he wanted to got out,
also i would just like to say
read the Lyrics to the song and understand it.
and may you all Rest In Peace.

being serious, i think a hobo stole it. where i come from people steal sewer covers for scrap metal, and the same with telephone wire, also metal gates and window bars. he might have done the same if it was a metal urn, i've heard of similar things happen. (i come from a third world country though)
I bet they did it to set his ashes free somewhere he wanted to go
When I die, I want some ov my ashes put in a rolled blunt so my close friends can smoke it, so that way, some remaining part ov me is in them...And I want 2 ov them to keep my middle fingers on them as a charm, (they could wear it however they like), and they're drinking out ov my skull...I'm not playing, I'm putting that in my f***ing will

i think this is just ignorant... imagine how the family must feel... if his friends knew the way he wanted to go then they should have spoken up BEFORE he was buried, not dig up his f***ing ashes and take them god knows where. thats just ignorant to his family. i dont know whats going on with the slipknot lyrics, this is just rather confusing to me. i can kind of understand leaving the guitar pick the note and the flower... but the noose??? that doesnt make any sense. unless he committed suicide but he died in a car crash..but still if his mother or father saw that im sure they'd flip out
Walk with me in Hell, you're stupid...You just called the band 'SlipKORN'...And so what they liked music that isn't to your tastes. Stupid posts like that take away from the site's average IQ (And thats just your grammar). Chill out, take some time off to think about what you say and think before you speak...
