Whitesnake Reveals New Album Details
Whitesnake has confirmed a May 10th release date for their upcoming studio album, "Flesh & Blood," via Frontiers Music Srl. A video for the first single, "Shut Up & Kiss Me", can be found below.
Fresh off celebrating their 40th anniversary, rock legends Whitesnake return with their latest studio album, "Flesh & Blood." This album follows the 2011 critically acclaimed studio album "Forevermore" and 2015’s "The Purple Album," a reimagining of Deep Purple classics from Whitesnake mastermind’s David Coverdale’s time in that band. The 13 original, visceral tracks on Flesh & Blood, the band’s 13th studio album, are, luckily for you dear reader, “all killer, no filler”, as the saying goes. But would you expect anything less from the ’Snakes?
David Coverdale, the mastermind behind Whitesnake & co-composer of "Shut Up & Kiss Me" with guitarist Reb Beach, commenting on the forthcoming release said that "after the intense darkness of our last video 'Burn', if anything, it’s ‘light’ snake, you know? We’ve got some really dark energy going on in the world right now, so we’re gonna write & record a fun, knees up, song about falling in love with a fabulous babe. You’re over-talking, over-compensating & she just looks at you, takes the reins & says, 'Shut Up and Kiss Me!' and that’s it!! My video director and creative partner Tyler Bourns and I discussed a great storyline for the video, which involves a surprise guest: my fabulous old white Jaguar. We ended up cleaning and detailing it, as it has been in storage since I moved to Lake Tahoe, then we dusted off my old turquoise silk jacket from the original ‘Here I Go Again’ video and I was thinking, "man, this is going to be fun!" It’s a respectful acknowledgment and positive nod to the past, just fun stuff.” More...

Whitesnake Posts "Live In '84" Trailer
Legendary hard rock act Whitesnake released the first trailer for the upcoming new DVD/CD "Live in '84 - Back to the Bone." The performance was captured from Super Rock Japan '84, which features the final performance by the late Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord with Whitesnake. Frontiers Records will release the package on November 7th (EU), November 10th (UK) and November 11th (North America).
Vocalist David Coverdale had this to say about the release: "2014 is the 30th Anniversary of the Whitesnake album ‘SLIDE IT IN’. The first multi-platinum album Whitesnake achieved. It features songs we still play all over the World...‘Love Ain’t No Stranger’ ( Cozy Powell’s favorite )...‘Guilty Of Love’...‘Slow & Easy’...& of course ‘Slide It In’.
"This ‘LIVE IN 84...Back To The Bone’ DVD-CD package features video footage & selected bootleg audio tracks, all taken from performances from our world tour 30 years ago in 1984.
"It’s still hard for me to find the words when remembering that half the incredible band who recorded the ‘SLIDE IT IN’ album with me have passed away.
"Incredibly difficult to articulate... Cozy Powell...Mel Galley...Jon Lord...Amazing people...amazing musicians...Their memories live on in our hearts & in the music they made. I miss them beyond words…
"Wait until you see & hear them playing as only they can & add in the fiery guitar assault of the incredibly gifted John Sykes...plus the relentless melodic bass pounding of Neil Murray…
"Watching the videos & listening to the live performances takes me right back to the time I was on stage with this super group...
"For this is a time capsule to indulge in, even if you missed the action the first time around & if you did catch any of the shows back in the day, you can relive it now in all it’s sonic glory.
"A truly great chapter of the band... One of my all time favorite chapters of Whitesnake.
"My Co-Producer Michael McIntyre & I searched the world for decent video footage & audio from any of the 1984 shows & came up with ‘Super-Rock’, recorded at the first Japanese rock festival at Seibu Stadium in Tokyo & a precious, invaluable video of Maestro Jon Lord’s final appearance with Whitesnake.
"All of the features on this package have been treated lovingly & respectfully, with no expense spared, utilizing technology to improve sound & picture quality. In other words, it should look & sound f’ing great!!
"Some of the Special Features include never before seen or heard tracks, demos, photos...

Sunday Old School 200: Monsters Of Rock
This week’s edition of Sunday Old School is a very special one because today sees Sunday Old School reach two hundred official articles! So to celebrate this little milestone of ours, I wanted to look back in rock and metal history and find a true landmark moment in the genre. A moment that let the world know that heavy music was here to stay and meant so much to so many. And nothing seemed like a bigger moment in general metal history than when promoter Paul Loasby teamed up with Maurice Jones and formed a festival, which was to be held at Donington Park in Leicestershire, England, and would be known as Monsters of Rock.
The one day event was initially scheduled to be a grand final date for Rainbow’s UK tour, a band whom Loasby had recently been promoting. Rainbow were joined at the inaugural event by established German rockers, the Scorpions, who had just released their seventh album, "Animal Magnetism" and Judas Priest, who were riding high thanks to the wildly successful, "British Steel" album. Also on the bill that day were heavy metal upstarts, Saxon, who were considered the leaders of the exciting young, New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement at the time, Canadian hard rock veterans, April Wine and New York openers Riot and Touch. The festival was a resounding success, drawing in thirty five thousand fans and a live compilation album, which sold well.
Although it was initially conceived only as a vehicle for Rainbow, it was announced on the day of the first edition that the festival would return the next year. AC/DC were to be the headliners in 1981, marking the first of their record holding three headline appearances at the event. It was a somewhat lighter tone in the sophomore year, where AC/DC were joined Whitesnake, American stars, Blue Oyster Cult and quite interestingly, British glam rock veterans, Slade, who had recently found favour with the heavy metal audience after a brief time out of the limelight. Rounding off the bill was Blackfoot, a Southern Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida and More, who were notable for featuring former Iron Maiden vocalist, Paul Day, as well as a DJ set from the BBC’s voice of rock, Tommy Vance. The varied lineups continued, with Status Quo (AKA, your nan’s favourite band) headlining the event in 1982, where they were joined by other established rockers such as Gillan, Uriah Heep and Hawkwind, as well as a young Canadian group named, Anvil and Monsters of Rock veterans, Saxon, who became the first band to appear twice, before Whitesnake closed the event in 1983, which also featured Meat Loaf and ZZ Top, who were placed higher than such heavy metal favourites as Dio, Diamond Head and Twisted Sister. Sunday Old School: Whitesnake
With tens of millions of albums sold, David Coverdale’s turbulent relationship with Tawny Kitaen, and the hair that all other hair would be judged by…we give you Whitesnake. As David Coverdale’s hair grew so did album sales. Is this a coincidence? Coverdale would say (presumably) that his hair and album sales are not related and this is a misconception. The facts are that during his eighties reign (when his hair was at an all-time Aqua Net high) album sales were through the roof. Later, he teamed up with Jimmy Page to form Coverdale/Page, shorter hair, fewer sales. Coincidence? More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: 1981 M/F/K
30 years ago the bands Anthrax, Metallica, Motley Crue, Pantera, Queensryche, and Slayer were formed. It was also the year many important hard rock/heavy metal albums were released, laying the groundwork for the eighties. Here’s a look back at ten of these classic albums in no particular order. Same as the “1986 M/F/K” edition there is a twist as Marry/Fuck/Kill rules apply. It’s as simple as it sounds. M (Marry) is a song you want to “save” and listen to forever, F (Fuck) is the song you get one more listen to and that is it, and K (Kill) is the song you want to go away and never be heard from again.
