The Rockstar Ramblings: The Porn Stache

This week classic bands with new videos, classic ex-band mates with new videos, and the classic look of the porn stache.

L.A. Guns have released a music video for the song "Requiem (Hollywood Forever)", from their 2012 studio album 'Hollywood Forever.’ It was only a matter of time before the current (or THIS) lineup did their version of a ballad for Hollywood. Seeing Phil Lewis in the cemetery, dressed in white, and his leg up is very disturbing to me for some reason. Also disturbing? How much this song sounds like Cinderella’s “Nobody’s Fool”, now that’s all I can think about…

Italian dirty rockers, The Unripes, have released the second video from their debut album 'This Is Not America', for the song "You Are The One", an INTENSE power ballad. I am pleased to see the lead singer and drummer bringing back the wife beater look and then I’m distracted by the Trans Am scenes. The video continues to switch back to the Trans Am (being driven) where some serious thinking is getting done. Is there a better way to get your thoughts together than driving fast in a sports car? Rocky IV captured this mood perfectly after Apollo Creed died (still hurts) and Rocky took his Lamborghini out for a ride to clear his mind. Does the video for “You Are The One” end with the lead singer taking on the Russian champ and ending the Cold War? No, but now that’s all I can think about…

Snakecharmer (founded by ex-Whitesnake members Micky Moody and Neil Murray) have released a video for the song "Accident Prone", the first single from their upcoming self-titled debut album. Let’s just discuss facts on this one. The sound is very seventies and the look (specifically bushy porn stache) of the lead singer matches the sound and is awesome! Now all I can think about is seventies porn…

Well, if we’re going to discuss L.A. Guns and Whitesnake, then I guess we should bring Dokken into the mix. T&N, the new band featuring former Dokken members George Lynch and Jeff Pilson along with Brian Tichy, have released a music video for the single "Slave To The Empire.” The video is one of those intense “revolution” clips where everyone is fighting and we are getting ready for World War III (NOTE: Pretty sure that’s not the message). Meanwhile, the “big 3” from Dokken are playing on a stage with flying debris, fire, and a very strong wind that appears to have a headwind pointed directly at their hair. Maybe they should all get in their sport cars, go for a ride, and sort some shit out…
