Stone Sour Recording New Album
Stone Sour announced today the commencement of work on a new album for Roadrunner Records, their first in four years. The band will record their third album in Nashville at Blackbird Studio with Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Alice In Chains), who also produced 2006’s gold certified "Come What(ever) May." The new album is due out this summer.
Frontman Corey Taylor commented, “I cannot wait to make this Stone Sour album. Everything already feels a million times stronger than anything we've done in the past. Plus getting back together with Nick is going to mean monstrous things. This is the year for Stone Sour.”
Stone Sour’s last album, "Come What(ever) May," and self-titled debut are both RIAA gold certified and approaching platinum status. The albums have a combined 1 million digital singles sales. The band has had three top 3 active rock hits with “Bother,” “Through Glass” and “Silly World,” one top 10 Active Rock hit with “Made of Scars,” and two Modern Rock hits with “Bother” and “Through Glass.” “Through Glass” remained at #1 on the Active Rock charts for a record 7 weeks. MTV, MTV2, VH-1, Fuse and Music Choice have continually offered major support. Stone Sour has to date received three Grammy nominations.
Stone Sour To Enter The Studio In January
When speaking recently to Noisecreep, Corey Taylor, the vocalist behind both Slipknot and Stone Sour, revealed that the latter band are expecting to enter the recording studio in January of next year to record their third full length album.
"We've already got ten tunes fully written and another 15 we're kind of working on here and there," he tells Noisecreep. "When I'm not on the road I'm still working, I never stop. And it's really good, everything we're doing is really, really good."
"I can say the material is darker than 'Come Whatever May,' but a lot more melodic, a lot stronger, a lot more mature, and the lyrics that are coming out of me are really good. I'm really excited."

Corey Taylor: Coldplay "Music to Wipe Your Ass"
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has spoken about his contempt for Coldplay's new album on national television.
During a recent interview on Zane Lowe's show on MTV 2, Taylor said that the British band's latest album, "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" is "One of the most self-celebratory pieces of shit I've ever fucking heard in my entire fucking life."
"I fucking hate that album," he added. "It's music to wipe your ass to."
Slipknot Frontman To Record Solo Album
Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has announced that he plans to enter the recording studio later this year, to record his first solo album. He claims that he has written around fourty to fifty songs so far and is choosing which he wants to be featured on the record.
Corey Taylor states: "It's something that I'd like to do purely for myself. It's something that I need to release before I can think about moving on to anything else… In both SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR I'm slightly limited to how I can write and indeed what I can write about. The beauty of doing a solo album is that I can write whatever type of song I want."

Stone Sour Guitarist Josh Rand Checks In
Josh Rand, guitarist with Iowa based rockers Stone Sour has posted the following update online:
"Wow! I can't believe a whole year has gone by since I checked in with you last. Lots has happened. The summer floods, working on ideas for Stone Sour, and the new project I've been working on.
"So let's start with Stone Sour first. Our tentative plan is to start rehearsals for the new album in the fall of 2009, hit the studio at the beginning of 2010, and release around Summertime. I have to say that all of us are really thrilled about having Roy in the writing process this time around. I've heard song ideas from everyone, and I have a feeling this could be the most diverse Stone Sour album yet!
"In other news, I've been working on a new project called Moonshot. It's a female fronted rock band, and I'm pretty excited about it! Here's a link to check it out www.myspace.com/moonshotband . That's all you get for now. I'll keep you updated.
"Take care and see-ya soon."

Taylor: New Slipknot Album Will Rip Your Face Off
Billboard.com reports: Nearly four years have passed since the release of Slipknot's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)." But members of the masked metal act have little doubt that its as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort, tentatively due Aug. 12 via Roadrunner Records, will appease its loyal fans, the Maggots.
"It's going to rip your face off," Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor tells Billboard.com with confidence. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."
Declining to give an album title or song names, Taylor describes Slipknot's forthcoming set -- which is being recorded in the band's home state of Iowa -- as a "very dark" cross between "Vol. 3" and 2001's "Iowa." "It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody," he explains. "It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."
