Corey Taylor: Latest Coldplay is "Music To Wipe Your Ass To"

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has spoken about his contempt for Coldplay's new album on national television.
During a recent interview on Zane Lowe's show on MTV 2, Taylor said that the British band's latest album, "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" is "One of the most self-celebratory pieces of shit I've ever fucking heard in my entire fucking life."
"I fucking hate that album," he added. "It's music to wipe your ass to."

Corey Taylor is a badass. Too bad he and Slipknot are f***ing retards though, they got banned from the stadium they played in in my hometown because after they were done playing, they smeared sh** all over the walls in the bathroom hahahaha.

I lovE cp iused to think they were depressing but i really love them, i kinda do agree though viva la vida is quite bad, violet hill was good until it was overplayed never liked viva la vida and lost! Is mediocre.the theme annoys methe whole french revolution stuff, but their old albums are superb.

I don't prefer Coldplay but I have a lot of respect for Coldplay and from what I have heard of the new album, the new music is a lot better then other popular music that is produced today. It's funny how a lot of people are going to agree with Corey on this on this site, but I'm willing to bet very very few people have heard this album from start to finish (I admit I have not). Not having done so it is unfair to judge the album.
If Corey doesn't like Coldplay then why would he listen to their new album if he even actually did listen to it? It's possible that he is just doing this to gain attention.

with the exception of a few tracks all hope is gone might as well be PERFORMED by coldplay. i dont see a big difference between the two there both selouts and slipknots new album doesnt have the "zazzyness" and originality they used to have like there first three albums. everything went to crap after iowa the band stayed good for vol 3 but nooooowww there just standardize like the riffs and drumming sound bad ass. but its not anything unique like they used to be.
p.s.: you can all wear my nuts for goggles!

William Murderface: We've been talking Skwisgar and, we think this whole production could be a lot more... zippy. It just, it needs zazz! Am I, I mean I'm right to say that right?
Nathan Explosion: No, you're right to say that. It's just, you know, you could stand to zazz it a up a little bit more.
Pickles the Drummer: No offense Skwisgar but I gotta say this whole thing, it uh, it lacks zazz.
William Murderface: You could just put it on the zazz train to zazz-ville.
Toki Wartooth: Yeah because no offense there's absolutely no zazz to be found, not here anyway, not in these parts.
Nathan Explosion: What we're trying to say is that there's two kinds of shows out there, those with and those without...
Skwisgaar Skwigelf: Could you please stop saying zazz?
Nathan Explosion: Zazz.
Pickles the Drummer: Zazz.
Skwisgaar Skwigelf: Please stop saying zazz.
Pickles the Drummer: Why don't you let us help you out?
William Murderface: Yeah and lighten the load, make it more zaaa - ohh, you know.

Coldplay and slipknot are two differant bands?
I could never tell, they both suck so much ass.
Golly Gee Corey Taylor, you sure are so smart for pointing out a fact everyone knew at the turn of the century. not only is coldplay(terrible as they are)not even part of the metal genre, what sense does it make when you have a band(that ranks just as low on my list in my opinion) in the same genre? OHhh Corey Taylor's so metal for bashing a band that everyone thinks sucks anyway right! Corey Taylor, You're INFLUENCING my musical tastes with every opinion you commission to the media! PLEASE! Tell me what bands not to listen to. But seriously now, I bet you can't convince me to buy that musical turd you call "All hope is gone"
f*** off.
one last thing-- whats this heavy metal "icon" doing listening to coldplay anyway? THINK PEOPLE

Corey Taylor is a beast despite what some of the idiots posting here say. He has true musical talent. He can go hard (obviously not hard compared to something like Cannibal Corpse etc.), he can do aggresive singing, and he can go really soft and melodic. I think that merits respect rather than disrespect. Sure maybe you guys don't like the slower music and that's fine but to sit there and say he's a waste of space or anything along those lines is blasphemous! Give your heads a shake the man is talented.

If that's what merits respect. Than Stu Block from Into Eternity deserves more respect than any other metal singing vocalist.

everybody has the right to have their own opinion even corey taylor, plus how can you say something is sh** if you haven't listened to it??slipknot versus coldplay?? i say slipknot at least it's metal, and istead of bahing slipknot or whoever from the metal scene we should stay united against crap like coldplay, make metal bigger then ever!!oh and when you say that somebody hasn't got talent ,is sh** etc. why don't create something of your own, compare it and let's see how much talent there is.

I don't think anyone would be stupidest enough to challenge Corpse Grinder' Fisher..that dude is a man mountain. I take it back, Corey Taylor would be stupid enough to do that. Interesting factoid - Fisher is a huge, huge, War of Warcraft fan...it is hilarious how excited it gets about the game.

I saw that video. Laughed my a$$ off. But hey, you travel alot, have alot of downtime, you need stuff to fill the void. Plus the guy's a husband and father so I'm doubting he's surrounded by groupies at all times. I don't play WoW like I used to, but I'm a huge comic fan and try out just about any superhero game I can get my hands on. Web of Shadows is pretty sweet by the way if you are a fan of the Web-Head. Just started playing today, but I've never seen Spidey move like this in a game before. Exelsior :)

troo thrash metull like lamb of god?!11
cannibal corpse? sure cannibal corpse is heavy i guess, if thats the only death metal band you listen to and thats you're idea of heavy. Dont get me wrong CC is OK, but they've been releasing the same album for years just with differant lyrics and whatnot.
Septic Flesh > Cannibal Corpse
Once you give SF a listen you'll hear my point

This dude despises way too much. Why do his opinions matter so much anyways? Well....he's right about this particular band but he is just way too ornery about it. Oh but I guess he is a musical elitist and his bands are the bee's knees. Mick Thompson comes off weird like that too. Kinda.....condescending.

The genres of music are so far removed that it makes no difference. I doubt there were countless Slipknot fans going, "Hey Corey's right!" and smashing their Coldplay CD's. Just like most Coldplay fans couldn't care less what a guy from Slipknot says. Do I like Coldplay? No. But like I said earlier, it just seems like a way to come off hard against a band that really has no representation with the people who listen to Slipknot's music. Might as well Pick on Tiny Tim or Barry Manilow for all that it really accomplishes. It's all just meaningless bluster.

Coldplay is nothing more than a very bad U2 copy. Their albums are horrible whishywashy produced crap and they're even worse live. It just shows how easily stuff can be shoved
down people's throats with enough marketing. To have a band that talentless being as
popular as they makes me wish the entire humanity would get wiped out

Hey - Netro - I am a big comic book fan...I will have to check out that Spidey game. It sounds cool. I recently picked up a stack of Marvel Tales - reprints of old Amazing Spider-Man issues..so I could see all of the earlier issues - considering each issue is valued at 200-500 dollars a piece. Amazing Spider-Man has always been my favorite marvel comic.

As I said before, I do My homework before i comment on a band. Wont say it again. So the answer is yes. And the answer to your second question is nothing, because i am not a musician! I love music, do not have to be a musician. But I can have my opinion, and by far not better than stone sour or slipknot. So im really not sure what you mean by "mark in the world". Does that mean that as long as you have a band then you have made a mark? Doesnt make sense to me. I was just commenting on his post where he has finished his assignment and thinks hes better than the bands mentioned.
69. writes:
What i mean by mark is, he has made an artistic contribution to the world. he has fans, has played live shows, made people's night better just for the fact that he has thrown out his creative talent into a project. Youre criticizing his music and telling him hes wrong for thinking its better than some band syou dont even like, when you yourself have mad eno attempt to even create music. I'm not sayin that makes your point any less valid, only that his opinion is more valid because he's met analguest's request that was meant as criticization.
What i dont understand is why you dont think his band is better than coldplay. Seeing as youre such a fan of nu-metal, I can understand if you enjoyed slipknot or stone sour more, but COLDPLAY?! Are you that bitter against the man that you cant see good music in front of you?

I'm not much of a fan of Slipknot, Stonesour, or Coldplay. I have written alot of music I might consider better while someone else might not. I might not have made anything of it, but that's not really the point here is it. I have the right to dislike any band, as Mr. Taylor does as well. What I don't understand is the pointless hostility which surfaces when someone doesn't like a certain band. The insults that get thrown around and the "well what have you done?" bullsh**. Just to point this out, I'm sure Slipknot doesn't need an internet defense league, they seem to be doing fine. Most of us here might not be famous musicians, but we are all entitled to like or dislike any music without an immature, highschool-style backlash. If you like the band and aren't creating music then your arguement applies to yourself as well. I don't need to release an album to have an opinion, positive or negative. Or to voice it.

the band corey attacked has sold more records, made more money and are more known worldwide than his band throught both there careers...jesus corey why dont u attack ozzy osbourne next....look if ur a metal fan ur not gonna like or get coldplay, however if ur a music fan and ur not bias and can judge talent and appeal, coldplay is a good.....i guess rock band.....there more pop but whatever......corey has lost his f****n mind...i dont know what drugs hes been doin the last 5 years but hes way off the reservation not just with this attack but with the last 3 records he has been a part of that have gone from bad to worse....vol 3 come whatever may and all hope is gone. Slipknot had a nice 4 year run....99-02....but when 03 came around and people where waiting for the next iowa type album and got vol 3......thats where the ship hit the ice berg........then to top that off the latest cd comes out and...its even worse than volume 3....finally if ur gonna critisize a band or attack them, u might wanna stay in ur category of music, i mean im sure he still considers his band a metal hard rock band, but u dont sh*t on someones artform or music just because u wanna be a bad ass.....the only time an artist should attack another artist is if they ask for it.....or theres some kinda of beef.....its a shame seriously...slipknot had something special in the beginning, but they f****d that up.....

FAN: Thanks for the props man. It wouldn't suprize me at all if KORDOGG's "taste" in music sways closer to coldplay and stone sour than Blind Greed.
KORNDOGG: My reply was to the comment regarding talent. Corey Taylor has trained under the most renowned vocal trainers in the business, yet he still blows out his voice on every tour (usually the first leg of the tour). To me this displays one of two things: 1) He doesn't have the talent to practice what he's been taught to do. 2) He's too stupid to use the tools he was provided. I was giving Corey the benefit of the doubt by saying he is not very talented. Maybe your right. Maybe he's just an idiot. Either way, i've been in the business long enough to know that if you are going to be a singer, your voice is your instrument and you have to take as best care of it as humanly possible. Corey does not.

Well.. i just wish he would shut the f*** up to be honest. and all the little sheep that follow this band... i hope they get off to the slaughter asap. i dont like coldplay nor do i like sh**knot but i hate it when bands trash others for no reason at all not because they arnt entitled to an oppinion but because people follow what they say religousley.. like half the people here and this jerk. god damn i hope he dies.

I like both Coldplay and Slipknot, but, I really disagree with Corey here. Everybody has different tastes of music and basically what Corey looks like he is trying to do is to persuade people of the public to not listen to Coldplay which is described as crap?...
The public and Corey could be described as crap!
