Corey Taylor: New Slipknot Album Will "Rip Your Face Off"

Band Photo: Slipknot (?)
Billboard.com reports: Nearly four years have passed since the release of Slipknot's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)." But members of the masked metal act have little doubt that its as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort, tentatively due Aug. 12 via Roadrunner Records, will appease its loyal fans, the Maggots.
"It's going to rip your face off," Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor tells Billboard.com with confidence. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."
Declining to give an album title or song names, Taylor describes Slipknot's forthcoming set -- which is being recorded in the band's home state of Iowa -- as a "very dark" cross between "Vol. 3" and 2001's "Iowa." "It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody," he explains. "It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."

Just let Corey release another Stone Sour album instead. At least it'd be worth listening to, then!
To me, Vol. 3 sounded like a rejected Stone Sour album. On s/t and Iowa, they actually sounded like 9 angry sociopaths going apeshxt, but Vol. 3 was depressing pompous crap and it sounded like a totally different band. The acoustic loop at the start of Circle should've tipped most off as to what the rest of the album was going to be like (prostate exam with a closed fist - unlubricated).

See how it plays out, Either way I will be seeing them On the Rockstar Mayhem tour. They will most likely play new material then. That will be the deciding factor on whether their next album is gonna be as hard as they say or a big load like alot of people expect.

Oh, don't get me wrong. S/T and Iowa changed my life, and that's no exaggeration. I, of course, am ready and actually, quite excited about this album. I just hope it's not a big stinker. There's too many sub-par albums being put out by bands that were once legendary. United Abominations, anyone?

Yeah, I saw Gigantour a week or two ago, and they opened up with Sleepwalkers. I could've sh** in my hand and thrown it. The only songs I really like off of UA are Washington Is Next (even though the intro is note-for-note ripped off from Maiden's Wasted Years) and the re-hash of A Tout Le Monde. But that's kinda faded since the original had meaning to me when it originally came out in 1996. I like the vocal harmonies near the end of the song, and that's pretty much it. Plus, if anyone has heard the Megadeth remastered re-releases after hearing the originals, you'll notice that Dave Mustaine added all kinds of extra guitar bullshxt to those songs. Countdown To Extinction and Rust in Peace suffered the hardest, there.
But, yeah, Slipknot is perfectly capable of wrecking Earth with this new album, but the way I think it's gonna go is it's going to be more lousy depressing crap because they've all got wives and kids now. I think these guys could very well hang themselves with this album by making this kind of hype. They might just be trying to outdo the Metallica hype that I'm sure will be everywhere in a few months. But it does seem like Corey is a little too sure of himself since Sllipknot won that Grammy for that embarassment of a song.

Whether the new album sucks or not..I will probably just d/l it. Stone Sour is a great band, I agree. the first stone sour was killer. The 2nd album was solid, but too polished.
We will see how good this new slipknot is. I am going to possibly see these guys again, so who knows..

i'm a knot fan well everything but vol.3 it sucks donky dic* what happened to eyeless (sic) no-life and other crazy shi* wtf slipknot seriously. slipknot should get rid of corey and let shaun and chris take over vocals then i'd get the chaos i'm craving. dont get me wrong corey is good but he's gone soft...nickleback soft...and that might sale records but that wont get the alligiance known as the maggots on you side!!!

^Sorry I have trouble watching a channel that my 11 year old sister watches non stop. Next thing you know I might end up listening to Fall Out Boy. Anyway f*** Disney Channel, the Jonas queers, and the douches from Fall Out Boy (who made the worst Pantera cover EVER).

Slipknot were a great band
they were the band that originally got me into metal so naturally i have a soft spot for them
but vol 3 was soft as hell and im not expecting the new one to be heavy at all
corey should'nt have gone to stone sour cos it tuned him into a poof
but on the other hand...they have had 4 years off
and toured will real bands and hopefully they have seen that they need to step up
im sure joey has brought some of his producing influences forward
we've all been waiting for this album for a long time
hopefully it doesn't dissapoint

43. writes:
The first 2 albums were amazing. Vol 3 was a bit of a letdown. Sounded like a stone sour record rather than a slipknot record. And no cursing. I'm hoping the new album is sick and heavy. I will be seeing them on the mayhem tour. Fingers crossed. And to the disney channel f***er, f*** fall out fag, panic in my a$$hole, and my c*** sucker romance. People think they the sh** cause they listen to that emo crap. Go into a slipknot or hatebreed pit then get back to me about u being the sh**. f*** emo!

I've loved every album of Slipknot they've put out, Corey Taylor has worked his off for his fans and the ones up top are just gonna say that? Really, If you're a true fan of any band you have to give it a shot once, The whole band has beent through a lot, the world of music is changing and so is many bands. I live in Iowa, I've been a fan of Slipknot since I've heard there S/T. There the only reason why I can respect Iowa knowing that such a kick a$$ band came from here. and for the love of god why would you talk sh** on a new album that hasn't had any info released on it.
49. writes:
Well the only logical thing for us to do is wait and bleed...er...wait and see !!! Maybe it will be super hard, maybe not. Be Corey has been saving his voice lately, he is trying not to scream...so how hard can that be on an album ?
Listening to : Massive Attack, Sly

^It's a different kind of life sucks, emo bands complain that life sucks because there parents would'nt let them wear girl pants and mascera (spelling?) or do the gay combover haircut, in otherwards they are whiney b****es. Slipknot complains about the world in general but only because they can and know that some p***ed off teenagers will buy their crap.

59. writes:
I find slipknot is only "emo" in the sense that they complain about lots of stuff. But there complaining is a lot more educated and real compared to other "Emo" bands. For example, the song "People = sh**" off of Iowa basically goes on saying mankind is our own worst enemy and we will be the end of the earth and no one really seems to give a sh**. People = sh** basically because we are our own worst enemy, we are going to be the end of the earth and no one seems to give a sh**. The message trying to get across is that of the human race is depleating itself of the simple pleasures in life and that everyone is now fake. So they are only really describing whats really going on in our world. Thats like saying Meshuggah is Emo because there lyrics talk about the human race ending (at times). Or Metallica is emo because of "Nothing Else Matters".

60. writes:
Cruor pretty much gets it as far as I see it. emo music is just whining, while slipknot is just p***ed of about things.
There is a big difference between a band like Machine Head/Metallica/Lamb of God being angry, and Slipknot/Korn/Atreyu type bands being angry. World politics, society, the world is going to end, religion, philosophy, war: or mom and dad don't understand me? Both can validly exist imo, there is a place for teen angst music, but at one point, you should really learn to grow out of it at one point, or better yet, stop crying, pull up your diapers, and deal with life, and listen to music that is actually intelligently constructed.

I agree with #48,how can anyone talk trash on an album nobody here knows anything about! I for one look forward to it & will judge it then. As far as all these comments about commercialism,I really don't understand that one at all. As far as I know only 1 song really got any air play from their last album,to me that does not constitute "commercialism". I think a lot of peeps just jump on the "bandwagon" when it comes to "hating" certain bands. If it's "cool" to hate a certain band, then they do it,even though deep down inside they love that band. Which makes them the "sell-out" and not the band. I've seen Slipknot live twice & both times they blew me away, they are awesome & I don't care what anybody says.

64. writes:
Are you kidding me? Slipknot had 3 friggin' songs on KROQ and were played often. "Before I Forget", that song about pushing fingers in your eyes, and that soft song as well. who cares if they sold out, they always sucked from the start. Stone Sour is even better and they sound like Nickelback rip offs

65. writes:
I think that these days the artists are actually reading some of the bullsh** that all of us forum bullsh**ters worldwide write about.
An artist can NEVER satisfy everyone...it can never be done, so rather listen to slipknots next album first then if it sucks - say so, otherwise you might just have to eat your words or your tongues : )

66. writes:
how can anyone judge the album if you all have not heard it yet.... so wait till august for yalls b****ing.......
And hears something for all you posers out there....
"You cannot not be metal all the time,if you are,you are fake"

I think people hate on Slipknot to much.
Although, that thing that Shawn said recently "Heaviest, and hardest band", was a little out of line. I have to go ahead and disagree with that...
And I don't think this album is going to do any sort of face ripping either. Vol. 3 was an awesome album in my opinion, but it was a dissapointment coming from Slipknot, and I don't see them getting any better with this album.
They are getting less heavy with every album, and I think it has a lot to do with Corey's voice. He can't scream like he use to. When they say this album is going to be "dark" that means light, and as creepy as they can make it. In my opinion it's going to be great (I've been waiting for a new Slipknot album for so long that anything will be great), but it won't be nearly as good as "Iowa" or "Slipknot", or even "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.".

70. writes:
I agree with #63 poeple just hate bands cause other people do. That and the fact that they are so disgusted with their own pathetic lives that they have to like bands that nobody has heard of and hate on bands that are popular. by the way I am going into my late 20's and this is a little off topic but what in the holy hell is this bullsh** moshpit crap with arms and legs fling all over the place. It used to be that you get your a$$ in their and run into people and push the sh** out of them and have fun with it, now swing your arms around like you are having a monkey sh** fight.

71. writes:
I am not going to Rockstar Mayhem tour - but I will more than likely get the Slipknot album. I liked Vol. 3 quite a bit. Stone Sour was better in the beginning...so it will be interesting to see how this album turns out. I hope it is a heavy as IOWA, as well. I think that they will move away from the experimental sound/ progression of Vol. 3...and get back to the heavy!

73. writes:
Those are those hardcore musik fukkers...they always seem to invade a good metal show..
They are FAR from hardcore tough individuals, though. I personally prefer just the traditional mosh..banging up against someone..but not starting a fight.. Moshing, to me, is an art form, and I sometimes watch the moshpit action more than the actual show...haha
It is always entertaining.

74. writes:
One of my friends jumped into a Behemoth moshpit, and DIRECTLY in front of him the second he got in, two people collided in midair and fell on the ground with their faces bleeding and then got back up and strted moshing again. His face was priceless, but what he did next was even funnier; he just walked through the entire moshpit from one end to the other doing the robot, and noone even touched him once! It was one of the funniest thing i had seen the whole day, with a few exceptions lol
NowPlaying: Meshuggah "Bleed"

I'd also like for this album to be as heavy (and not experimental) as Iowa. But sadly Txmetalhead, I don't think that will happen. Corey's voice isn't what it use to be, so if the music got heavier and he didn't scream, and just sung like did on Vol. 3, it most likely wouldn't sound very good.
But either way, heavy or not, I'm looking for forward to this album, and I plan to go pick it up the day it is released.

that is a funny mosh story. The last concert I went to a bunch of guys were looking at these idiots with the arms flinging all over the place and decided to put an end to it. They all ran right through them and knocked them on their asses. The crowd around the pit started cheering, needless to say they stopped doing it after that.

81. writes:
I'm not sure if they're still around or not, but Shawn had another band called To My Surprise... They were alright, some of their stuff was hippie-esque ("Blue").
Anyway, as much as I disliked Vol. 3, I'll probably (sadly?) end up buying the new CD, I just hope it's good or I'll be annoyed kind of...

84. writes:
post 80: ya, I end up doing the same thing all the time at concerts. At last year's Ozzfest, these two kids were just hardcore dancing in the middle of the crowd, no moshpit at all! So I knew a stop had to be put to this; I ran up stared at them for a few minutes, neither of them noticed me, they were so focused on being "hardcore" i guess, and I just smashed a soda bottle on both of their heads and just yelled at the top of my lungs, "NO! , THAT'S STUPID!" needless to say, they sat down and didn't really move for the rest of the concert!
