Mortemia Shares Collaboration With Metalite Singer

Morten Veland (Sirenia, Mortemia and founder of Tristania) has released the 8th Mortemia song from "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions." The track features Erica Ohlsson (Metalite) on guest vocals, and is due for release today, on the 4th of March 2022 via all digital platforms. The track is entitled "Lost Horizon" and can be heard below.

Morten Veland:
"I am proud and honoured to introduce Erica Ohlsson from Metalite as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The eight song is entitled ‘Lost Horizon’, and is now available on all digital platforms.

"When I first started working on this project I was spending quite a lot of time looking for bands in the genre that was new to me. I was curious what was going on in the scene, and I finally had the time to update myself. One of the bands that I discovered early on was Metalite, I really liked their modern and catchy style of metal, and I was instantly blown away by Erica's amazing voice. I feel truly privileged and thankful to have Erica on board this project, and I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all. This song is more of an uptempo song, I find it very powerful, atmospheric and catchy."

Erica Ohlsson adds:
"I got the question to record the clean vocals for Morten Velands (Sirenia) studio project Mortemia. The song sounded very modern, melodic with a lot of energy, I liked it a lot so of course I wanted to join. With help from my Metalite colleague Edwin we recorded it and we are really happy about the result! It sounds awesome! Hope you like it as much as I do." More...

Mortemia Posts New Lyric Video Online

Morten Veland (Sirenia, Mortemia and founder of Tristania) released the 7th Mortemia song from "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions" on the 29th of January. The track was entitled ‘Here Comes Winter’ and features Maja Shining (Forever Still) on guest vocals. Today the lyric/performance video of the same song is out!

Morten Veland: "I am proud and honoured to introduce my friend Maja Shining as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The seventh song is entitled ‘Here Comes Winter’, and will be available on all digital platforms from the 29th of January 2022. Me and Maja toured together back in 2019, when both Sirenia and Forever Still were on the billing of the ‘Female Metal Voices Tour’. We became great friends right away, and it was a pleasure to hear Maja and the band perform every time. I feel truly privileged and thankful to have Maja onboard this project, and I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all. This song is quite slow and atmospheric, but still packs some heaviness, even a bit doomy at times. And the amount of emotions that Maja has poured into her performance on this song I find no less than breathtaking."

Maja Shining: "I met Morten, back when we were touring with Forever Still and Sirenia on the last tour before covid paralyzed the world and put an end to touring for longer than anyone could have possibly imagined. We bonded fast on the month-long Female Metal Voices Tour (maybe it was the Nordic kinship,) so I was very excited, when Morten asked me to collaborate on a song for Mortemia and said yes before even hearing it. The time of release couldn’t be more ideal, as the song perfectly embodies the spirit of cold, dark Scandinavian winter and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did working on it!" More...

Mortemia Shares New Lyric Video

Morten Veland (Sirenia, Mortemia and founder of Tristania) just released an official lyric video for the song "Death Turns a Blind Eye," the second single from "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions." The song features Marcela Bovio (MaYaN, Dark Horse White Horse) on guest vocals, and is live on Youtube right now.

Morten Veland: "I am proud and honored to introduce Marcela Bovio as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The second song is entitled ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye’, and will be available on all digital platforms on the 18th of June 2021. I have known Marcela for more than a decade now and she is definitely one of the top shelf singers in the genre, she has an impressive vocal range, great interpretation, a present nerve and an amazing technique. Working on this project so far has been an amazing journey for me, and I feel truly privileged to have Marcela onboard this project. I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all."

Marcela Bovio: "I've known Morten for quite a few years now, we met officially when touring together back in 2009. I've always been impressed by his musical vision and songwriting talent, he writes amazing songs with beautiful melodies. And if you know me you know that I'm all about the beautiful melodies! Since we hadn't spoken in quite some time his invitation came a bit as a surprise, but it was of course very flattering; and after listening to the song I was sold! ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye’ is a wonderful track, just like I would expect from Morten; it has an amazing chorus with some nice vocal layers. I'm really happy with how it came out, and I hope both Mortemia and Marcela Bovio fans enjoy it as well." More...

Mortemia Announces Series Of Digital Singles

Mortmia, the solo project from Sirenia/Tristania founder Morten Veland, has announced that new music will be on the way this year, which will feature a variety of different singers. A statement from Veland reads as follows:

"After 11 years of silence, I finally found the time to activate my solo project Mortemia once more. I am back with a new and different concept this time. Each new song will feature a well known and highly profiled singer in metal. This new project is called 'The pandemic pandemonium sessions', and it will be released as a series of digital singles. It is my great pleasure and honour to introduce my first special guest Madeleine Liljestam from the Swedish band Eleine. The song is entitled 'The Enigmatic Sequel' and will be available on all digital platforms on the 14th of May 2021. Mortemia to me is kind of a journey back to the Nineties, as the songs are very much inspired by this decade musically, whilst my other band Sirenia is more of a journey into the future, musically speaking. This first song is just the beginning and I am very excited by all that will follow. I feel truly honored and privileged to be working with such talented singers, and I can't wait to share more songs with you all in the time to come."

Quote Madeleine:

"When Morten asked me about this collaboration I was first of all honored. When I then heard the song I instantly felt that this is something I really want to do. Morten has captured a certain vibe in this song that makes it interesting, mysterious and catchy! I am very excited about this release and can’t wait to share it with our fans!" More...
