Soil Refuses To Play At Site Of Dimebag's Death

SOiL has refused to play the October 26th date in Columbus, OH of the MUSHROOMHEAD/SOiL tour at the Al Rosa Villa club. The band cites the murder of the legendary Dimebag Darrel that occured at the club in December 2005. "We find it in bad taste that the club is even still standing" says guitarist Shaun Glass. "I would be sick to my stomach to just walk into that place." Bassist Tim King continues "Maybe other bands can play the club and not be bothered by what happened in there, but as close as we were with Dime and the DAMAGEPLAN camp, we would be unable to get on that stage without breaking down. We hope our fans will understand and respect our decision."

Sevendust To Resume Touring, Discuss New Single

Now that SEVENDUST’s three-month-plus headlining tour has come to a close, the band is taking a much deserved break, but they won’t be resting for very long. Starting May 4 in La Crosse, WI at the La Crosse Center the band--Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), John Connolly (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), Morgan Rose (drums), Sonny Mayo (guitar)—will head out for another batch of tour dates lasting through the month of May with SOiL and Hourcast.

Meanwhile, the second single from the band’s critically acclaimed fifth album, NEXT, has been burning up the Rock charts since its release. It was a Top Five Most Added track at Rock radio its first week out and it’s currently bulleted at #31 on Billboard’s “Mainstream Rock Tracks” chart and #27 on the “Active Rock Tracks” chart. It’s also bulleted at #30 on Radio & Records’ “Active Rock” chart.

While you might think that the song’s a downer, it's far from it. It actually conveys an enlightening message and encourages fans to look at the brighter side of life. “The message in it is really positive,” explains guitarist Sonny Mayo. “It’s about living life thinking you’re gonna be a failure, and basing your whole existence on what other people or what another person told you about yourself, and finally coming out and realizing that it’s all about inner strength and it doesn’t matter what other people think about you. You could shed all the shame and all the guilt that you ever felt about things you did or things you didn’t do, and you could truly find the positivity even if you always thought you were going to be a failure.”

Here are the current confirmed tour dates:

Thu 5/4 La Crosse, WI La Crosse Center
Fri 5/5 Superior, WI Wessman Arena
Sat 5/6 Peoria, IL Expo Gardens
