Long-defunct Indiana band D.E.M. (DEUS EX MACHINA), which existed between the years 1994 and 1997, has posted some of its early demo recordings featuring former SOIL and current DROWNING POOL vocalist Ryan McCombs. Check them out at this location.
After the members of SOIL heard Ryan with D.E.M. on a compilation disc from California called "Rock 'n Roll Myths" (released by Wild Rags Records), they sought him out in Indiana and asked him to join the group.
DROWNING POOL has been on the road in support of its third album, "Full Circle", which marks the recording debut of McCombs.
DROWNING POOL lost its first singer, Dave Williams, to heart disease in 2002, and parted with a second vocalist and a record label while attempting its first comeback two years later.
Lacey Conner, villainess co-star of VH1's hit TV show "Rock of Love" featuring POISON's Bret Michaels, conducted an interview with SOIL members Tim King and Adam Zadel at the Dean Guitars booth at this year's winter NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 17-20 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Watch the three-minute clip below.
SOIL recently amicably parted ways with guitarist Shaun Glass due to "personal differences." The band will not seek a replacement guitarist but will remain a four-piece, with vocalist AJ Cavalier filling in on some of the guitar duties.
SOIL's latest CD, "True Self", was released in May 2006 via DRT Entertainment. The follow-up to 2004's "Redefine" was recorded and mixed at Bomb Shelter studios in Los Angeles, California with producer Ulrich Wild (STATIC-X, TAPROOT).
Following his departure from SOIL, Shaun will focus all his efforts on DIRGE, the new extreme metal project which he formed with THE DOOMSDAY SOCIAL drummer James Knight (ex-THE BLANK THEORY, CHACOPA) and A TEXAS FUNERAL vocalist Jermz.
According to Shaun, who previously played bass in the 1990s death metal act BROKEN HOPE, DIRGE's musical direction is "total fucking extreme metal in a very modern thrash style." More...
