Dave Mustaine Sells Coffee For Mexican Orphanage
Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine issued the following statement on his official website's forum:
"I just wanted to take the time to inform you of my privilege to be able to make a contribution today to the Door of Faith orphanage in Mexico. Thanks to all of the Net Worth Coffee Brokers customers and 'Mustaine Coffee Crew Members,' we were able to come through for the orphanage again this year.
Like I mentioned in my post in the Members Only area of the Coffee Crew site, 'I wanted to take this time to point out to you the tremendous success that we have had with Net Worth Coffee Brokers, Inc.,' and 'inform you that we are able to make a sizeable donation to the orphanage before the end of the year.' We were also able to purchase a large order again this year from Elaine Hinton and our friends at Hasbro Toys."

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following studio report:
"Droogies!
"What a raging day! Tons of stuff got done today, we have three final arrangements of the 12 songs we are tracking finalized, and we are continuing to plow through the rest of the ideas and demos of stuff to complete this album worth of material. James and I also discussed starting the visual files for the projection for this tour. We want to use all of the relevant footage that we have saved over the years and make the visual portion of this upcoming tour as exciting as the audio portion of our show.
"I hope that you are all enjoying getting ready for the Holidays and I already have what I want; the best wife, son, and daughter I could possibly ever have; the best band mates, management, partners, and staff that I have ever had too; my health is holding stable and Father Time seems to have misplaced my address once again; my relationship with my business partners with TheLiveLine, Net Worth Coffee Brokers, and my endorsements with Dean Guitars, Marshall Amps, Line 6, Seymour Duncan, Jim Dunlop, GHS, DigiTech, Celestion, Shure, Tone-Pros, and my amazing guitar tech - Willie Gee; I am making a record with the amazingly talented and a really decent guy too - Andy Sneap; I am starting my book, my radio show, our next tour, our next Gigantour, our next Southern Pacific tour. Megadeth Hoping To Release New Album Next Year
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following lengthy update:
"I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did. I was able to wrangle someone else to come cook for the family, and Pam got a reprieve, so she was 'thankful' for that.
"And there really was an 'aire' of gratitude this year that has been missing to some degree before. There has always been some deal, or job, or gig, or something that would be interfering with the atmosphere, and this year, it was really the first time that I wasn't 'giving an interview' at the table. My family hates that; and I get uncomfortable talking about myself too. I mean, I do it everyday when I am out doing promo tours and press, and it just gets old hearing the same sh*t everyday for them, so I thank our guests for their tact and manners.
"I have been very busy with Justis' band and trying to get him off in the right direction. His whole world is 'clicking' right now. They have a name they like, got a bassist named Brian that James LoMenzo recommended - completing their lineup (although he is just 16 and been in three accidents already), and now it is just investing the 'time' that it takes to get ready to be released out into the world. I hope he has as much fun as I have, and that he refrains from making the mistakes I did. Although, I still stand by the things that I believe in, some of the stuff I did was the stuff that kids do. And the bad stuff was fun sometimes too. More...
Megadeth Drummer Shawn Drover Posts Update
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has checked in with the following update:
"I arrived home mid-afternoon on Thanksgiving day, which was a smart move on my part. Anybody who travel's as much as I do pretty much knows that the day before Thanksgiving is one of the WORST day's to travel all year. I avoided all that insanity and still made it home on time for our family get-together. Oh ya, baby!!!!!!!!!
"This weekend brings our yearly trip to buy our Christmas tree - something that we all look forward to each year. My kids are grown now, but they still enjoy picking the 'correct' tree, and setting it up.............well, ok.......Jodi does that part. Look's like it's time to break out our TSO CD's, though I do have to go out and buy their most recent record..........Hold on, I have to e-mail Chris Caffery to ask him what it is called - I think it's called The Lost Christmas Eve, but I have to make sure. Speaking of which, I missed the TSO show here in Atlanta, which really pissed me off (I was in San Diego recording at Vic's Garage) - Though Chris is a good friend of mine, I have yet to see him with TSO in a live setting. Jodi did go with her Mom and sister, so they had a great time.
"As for Megadeth related stuff, we now have 4 1/2 songs completed in demo form (no vocal's yet, that happens later) to which I am quite happy with how the song's are shaping up. We fine-tuned them all pretty good so the actual recording should be quite easy when are ready. We are having a good time and all seem to be in a creative frame of mind, which makes me happy. Andy and myself will be back at Vic's within a week and get right back to getting the rest of the demos recorded."
Megadeth Frontman Posts Update On New Material
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message online:
"Droogies!
"Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who choose to celebrate Thanksgiving on this day. Today's update is kinda wrapping up the whole week, instead of just any given day.
"Andy Sneap has gone back to the UK, and Shawn Drover has gone back to the land of mosquitoes in Georgia. I am here at home in San Diego, like James is too, and Chris is up the freeway two hours in LA. Our last full day together was Tuesday, and we got a lot of ground covered.
"I know that there was probably some wonder of how I was going to come up with these songs, but I have never wondered, and the songs I have heard so far are kewl to me, and we keep making little slight adjustments which improves the song most of the time. I also have just enough humility to know when a change has not made a song better, and to go with what is best for the song. More...
Megadeth Bassist James Lomenzo Checks In
Megadeth bassist James Lomenzo has posted the following update online:
"Having a stellar week here at Vic's working up new stuff for the album. What a luxury to have our own place to work out of without the constraint of a clock to watch. Things are going well, Andy's (Sneap) doing a stellar job of keeping up with all the quick changes that are flying by and every thing's sounding really big. I'm going to move into the big room and drop some bass down. Shout at you later!"
Testament Announces New Year's Eve Show
Testament has announced that they will be performing a special show on New Year's Eve at Fat City in San Francisco and will be joined by thrash metal supergroup Dublin Death Patrol (wich features Testament vocalist Chuck Billy), black metal act Dragonlord (which includes Testament guitarist Eric Peterson) and Laaz Rockit.
“It’s gonna be a fun party with a bunch of friends,” says singer Chuck Billy. “It’ll be our band, my side project, Eric’s side project, and our friends from Laaz Rockit. We thought it was a good idea for all us friends to get together and jam, even if Alex is away playing with Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We’ll be able to play some stuff with Glen Drover. The show is gonna rock from start to finish, so make sure to get there early!”
Guitarist Eric Peterson also commented on the show: “We’re excited to play New Year’s Eve in our hometown. We haven’t played there in a while, and we decided to play in a smaller club to have more a of a friend/party vibe. Be sure to get there early as my side project Dragonlord goes on first!”
Megadeth Drummer Shawn Drover Checks In
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following studio update:
"As I write this, James is in the control room laying down a bass line to a song we have 'just about' completed in demo form, and I have to say the tune sounds really killer. A good mid-paced song with a few curveballs thrown in for good measure. I liked the song from the start and have a good feeling alot of you will like it as well :) Drums and guitars are pretty much done for this song, so once James lays down his track, the song will be safely put away until it is time to record the song for the actual record. We have 3 - 4 other partial songs on tape as well, so I am thinking we will expand on these next. Then again, we might dip into the 21,945,830 other riffs that are in the Pandora's Box of metal riffs and work on them for a while. Believe me, there is alot of good stuff in there.
"Andy Sneap has everything sounding awesome as well, and he has barely tweaked anything yet. My drum set sounds fantastic!!! Nice and ambient, just the way I like them to sound. All in all, we are having a good time here at Vic's."
Be well,
Shawn Drover

Megadeth Frontman Dave Mustaine Checks In
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following update online:
"We had a good day yesterday at the studio. And Shawn Drover pulled in around 2PM if memory serves me well. I was working most of the day on listening to stuff for the demos, and went over the R.I.P. demos again, the Trent Reznor mixes of 'Symphony Of Destruction' (which are genius in my book - great job Trent . . . even tho you'll never see this), and found four more really good songs I taped. I know this sounds wacky to have all of these riffs around, but that is the way some musicians work. Hell, I checked my messages on the studio answering machine, and I heard a sleepy dood that sounds like me singing a guitar riff into the phone in the middle of the night.
"I really do that
"Today Wayne from STATIC-X is coming down to Vic's Garage (the name will make sense if you ever record here), and we should have a fun day, er well, night, since he is getting here at the time I usually go back home. Ha! We had a great tour with Static-X in Oz for Gigantour down there last time, and I am honoured to be able to try my hand at this with Wayne and Koichi. More...
Megadeth Guitarist Chris Broderick Checks In
Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick (formerly of Nevermore and Jag Panzer) has checked in with the following message:
"It’s been awhile but I’m sure you know that I am not the most prolific when it comes to posting. I wanted to catch everyone up with what I have been up to the past few months. Well first of all I have been practising (as usual) trying to keep my technique improving and writing new riffs and pieces. While I had the summer pretty much free I took the opportunity to vacation for a week on a houseboat in Lake Powell (It was definitely needed). The week was filled with wakeboarding, Jet skiing, hiking, and good friends. More recently my girlfriend and I threw a Halloween party. I dressed up as a psychotic clown and looked pretty stupid Ahahahah. Between all of this of course I have been heading down to Vic’s Garage, getting the studio up and running and starting the writing process with Dave, James and Shawn. At any rate I am looking forward to getting back out on tour and meeting more of you.
"PS in case it’s not painfully obvious, I am horrible at wakeboarding, but I thought it would be funny and this is why I play guitar for a living Ahahahhaa."
Testament Recruits Guitarist Glen Drover For Tour
Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT have recruited guitarist Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND) to fill in for Alex Skolnick on their upcoming Mexican tour dates with JUDAS PRIEST.
Due to Alex's prior commitment to the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, the band sought out Glen Drover to fill in and rehearsed together all week.
Glen says, "I am really looking forward to playing these four upcoming shows in Mexico with my buddies in TESTAMENT, along with JUDAS PRIEST. We are totally going to crush!"
Alex Skolnick commented on his (temporary) replacement: "I regret that I'll be unable to perform at TESTAMENT's upcoming shows in Mexico this month. As many know, I've been touring with TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA since 2000, and it's been a blessing to be a part of both projects since reuniting with TESTAMENT in '05. I respect the TESTAMENT guys' decision to accept some gigs during this period, and I'm super happy to have Glen Drover filling in for me. I recommended him personally, respect his playing and know he'll do a great job. I apologize to any TESTAMENT fans for not being able to make it this time around but we have a lot of shows lined up in 2009 so far, all of which I'm on. Thanks for understanding, and I look forward to seeing everyone all over the world with TESTAMENT in 2009!"
Guitarist Eric Peterson commented: "I've known Glen since he played with KING DIAMOND, and if anyone can jump in, Glen can. Plus, Alex is happy with our choice."
TESTAMENT will be traveling to Mexico this week to play a string of dates with JUDAS PRIEST. See below for tour dates. The band is coming off a successful headlining run with SOILENT GREEN, to support their first studio album in nine years, "The Formation of Damnation."

Oct. 27 - Monterrey, Mexico - Arena Monterrey
Oct. 29 - Guadalajara, Mexico - VFG Arena

Megadeth Frontman Posts New Studio Report
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following studio report online:
"Droogies and Rattleheads!
"I am writing this from the studio - Vic's Garage - and am listening to Chris jam in the other room. Man that is one wicked fucker on geetah! I think that there are going to be a bunch of babies that will finally get to stop peeing their pants about the shred-factor being gone since Marty Friedman went off to the land of the rising sun.
"It is also good to have Andy in here. He is keeping it real; real metal I should say!! Pretty kewl for a vegetarian.
"Yeah, how about some Tofurkey for Thanksgiving? Howz about you tazer my eye lids first!!! More...
Megadeth Posts Studio Update
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following update online:
"How is yer weekend my lovelies? I am having the best time ever! Andy and I started recording some guitar parts and we were going over some lyrics and thanks to our beloved webmaster, I was able to immediately make my point with our correct approved versions of the Megadeth lyrics. And just so you know how dedicated this webmaster is, he is going to go over all of the lyrics again to make sure that we still have the latest and greatest versions of all your favorite Megadeth songs and their lyrics.
"We are nearing the end of Shawn's stay until he comes back to start jamming with me and Chris, and he has been non-stop help the whole time. I want to start my own 'Shawn appreciation thank you thread'; but I won't because I know you guys will. Is this guy the coolest or what? More...

Megadeth Drummer Speaks On Upcoming Priest Tour
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message online:
"Let me be the first here to say I am very excited about these shows with Priest and Testament for the obvious reason that it is a great lineup, but as well this same lineup was one of my all-time favorite concerts I have seen from back in 1990 (Painkiller tour) where Glen (brother) and myself witnessed this show in Toronto and to this day, I still remember a good chunk of it (I was sober at that show). So for me, to be a part of this same line-up all these years later is a very cool thing for me!!! I hope those of you who attend these shows will enjoy it as well."
