Megadeth Frontman Dave Mustaine Checks In

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted the following update online:
"We had a good day yesterday at the studio. And Shawn Drover pulled in around 2PM if memory serves me well. I was working most of the day on listening to stuff for the demos, and went over the R.I.P. demos again, the Trent Reznor mixes of 'Symphony Of Destruction' (which are genius in my book - great job Trent . . . even tho you'll never see this), and found four more really good songs I taped. I know this sounds wacky to have all of these riffs around, but that is the way some musicians work. Hell, I checked my messages on the studio answering machine, and I heard a sleepy dood that sounds like me singing a guitar riff into the phone in the middle of the night.
"I really do that
"Today Wayne from STATIC-X is coming down to Vic's Garage (the name will make sense if you ever record here), and we should have a fun day, er well, night, since he is getting here at the time I usually go back home. Ha! We had a great tour with Static-X in Oz for Gigantour down there last time, and I am honoured to be able to try my hand at this with Wayne and Koichi.
"James was still slaving away at the video documentary of the making of United Abominations, and the footage that we shot for the still-born attempt at making something special with the label and the LED ZEPPELIN cover of 'Out On The Tiles'.
"Andy was in the control room all day getting gear set-up, and when I left he was having Shawn get drum tones. I Must confess that I know when I am in the middle of a relationship, I usually say, 'This is the best thing for me and Megadeth ever,' and then we will stop working with someone and the warts rise to the surface. But I just can't seem to find anything that I can pick on with Andy. He is just one hella-kewl guy! I didn't tell you that he came over to the Guitarfest thing and helped me with my guitar that night, did I? 'Andy, thanks for that!'
"The funny thing is that I was talking to James at lunch yesterday about the bassist Mark Mendoza, and I told him what happened at Guitarfest, and that it wasn't a big deal, but I completely forgot asking Andy Sneap to play the songs when he showed up at rehearsals on Thursday in the UK. You see the guy that played with Shawn and I, Soren Anderson, didn't know the songs yet and didn't get to play them until I met him either. So when I saw Andy, and Soren was still not there yet, I asked him to play, which unfortunately he couldn't. I still had a good time just the same - just wanted you to know that he is that good on guitar that I would have asked him to play with me.
"Shawn went right out to his drum set and started slobbering, and polishing stuff. Thank God he is here, because I am so overwhelmed trying to listen to these riffs and figure out over almost 150 songs worth of riffs and if i have used what I am listening to in any of the previous songs. I absolutely despise musicians who write similar songs and use different lyrics, or even go one step further, to have the same riff or lick or chord progression in a song and gets away with it; although you never really "get away" with anything. do you?
"Before I left, I went out to the Drum Room and Andy and Shawn had been crawling over Shawn's dDrums like mad fire ants and ripping apart the cable packages from Monster Cable and wiring up all the Shure mics, and the specialty mics that one would use when recording a drum set and cymbals.
"Don't worry, there were no stories to completely misinterpret, and end up making a complete ass out of your self, commenting on my politics or something that you weren't even there to hear. So to my dumb friends, I still love you, and have a day.
"To all of the rest of you lovely MegaFans,
"Have a great day! I can't wait to see you next year at NAMM and then on tour with JP."
