Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Posts New Album Update
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has checked in with an update on the bands forthcoming new album which is expected to be released by September. It reads as follows: "Droogies!
"This week has been fantastic! Andy Sneap is back at the helm in Vic’s Garage and it is such a natural thing to see Andy here with me, that I am thinking of trying to find him an American super-model that will marry him and spend the rest of their lives in San Diego make records for me and making whoppee for Android!
"Seriously though, I love working with Andy. I have had some greats over the years, and Andy is one of them. We have been making some serious soulful and aggressive vocal performances. More...
Slayer And Megadeth To Tour This Fall
Two of thrash metal biggest names will be joining forces for a tour together later this year. Megadeth To Tour With Another Big Name
In a recent update, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine announced that Megadeth will be hitting the road this year in what will be a huge tour with another band. Although he didn't specify which band, he stated it could lead to the end of a potential feud, which has resulted in many rumours about who they will be touring with as in the past, Mustaine has feuded with Slayer, Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Phil Anselmo and more. The message from Mustaine reads as follows:
"Today is the 9th of April and I have agreed to doing something last night that I am sure a lot of people are going to be very excited about, and something that I had hoped would one day lead to another one of the potential feuds going away for good, if not for a long while.
"I can't confirm the band or the dates yet, and I have to go get my youngster up for school. Rest assured, as soon as we are ready to announce it, you will be one of the first to know. Check here at the official Megadeth Forums, the Killing Road pages, and here at TheLIVEline.com. More...
Megadeth Mainman To Write Autobiography
Megadeth's lead vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine has revealed that he will be working on an autiobriography along with New York Times journalist Joe Layden. The book is expected to be released in the late period of next year. Speaking on the book, Mustaine said: "If you're going to write an autobiography, everything has to be included - the good and happy moments, as well as the hard times. You can't leave anything out."
Megadeth Frontman Gives New Album Update
Megadeth's frontman Dave Mustaine has checked in with a new update on Megadeth's forthcoming new studio album. It reads as follows:
"As we near the time where all of our gear will be returning from Priest Feast, I can't help but get excited about picking up where we left off. Andy (Sneap) and I are on track to start back up on the 11th or so, with the first order being setting up all of the gear again, now that it has all been moved and new gear has been received.
"For example: I have just received all of the stunning Marshall 1960 DM cabinets, and I also got one of the new Randy Rhoads Marshalls to use for my lead solos. I am pumped about this!!
"I have also decided on one section having a slight rhythm change, the two songs James wants to change, another song with a modulation in it, and extending one song by just a small length of time. I am really excited about some of the lyrics I have got for this record too. More...
Jason Newsted Talks Metallica HoF Induction
As previously reported, the Metallica guest list for the April 4 induction includes staffers from the band's previous labels, Megaforce and Elektra, journalists and photographers who have been supportive over the group's career, producers and musician friends.
It was also reported that Dave Mustaine would not be able to attend. However, what wasn't reported [here] are some vital details that Metallica Blog Magnetic reported: that Dave Mustaine will not be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the rest of the band, including all three bassists. Perhaps it goes without saying, but Jason Newsted cleared things up.
"There's three bass players getting inducted, and James, Lars and Kirk," former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted said. Former guitarist Dave Mustaine will not be inducted. "Its not my decision. I have nothing to do with that. It was decided by the band, and I think it was just a hard-and-fast rule… anyone who has recorded on any Metallica recordings that have been released to the public as an official release were invited to the induction. So, that's kind of that."
Ray Burton, father of Cliff Burton, who was Metallica's bassist from 1982 until his death in 1986, will accept on behalf of his son.
That excludes Ron McGovney from the three bassists as well, for those who were counting.
Newsted plans to perform with Metallica during the ceremony. For the first time in nine years, "the Black Album band will be back together and mow the shit down," as Jason Newsted puts it.
"I talked to Lars, and it's all good," Jason Newsted said. "I was happy to hear from him. I hadn't talked to him for a long time, so it was nice to hear his voice. It was basically as if no time had passed, as far as the conversation went. We picked up right where we left off. It was just absolutely positive. It was like, there we were, getting ready to get a beer some place. And Lars is ready to rock. He sounded like a kid again talking about the induction, and I felt pretty much like that, too. Getting fired up to rock after that many years… it's pretty special."

Dave Mustaine Issues More New Album Details
Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has issued the following update about the band's upcoming album:
"I am now back focusing on the remaining lyrics for this new record. We have 11 songs for the states and a bonus song for Japan, and we are almost done picking the 12 faithful soldiers to go on this new record. There are 11 tracks with vocals and one instrumental, and I have six more lyrics to go, which I am more than confident will come easily."
Megadeth Mainman Checks In From Paris
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has issued a tour update from Paris, France. You can check it out below:
"Well, we are within a week of ending the tour for the Priest Feast. Oddly enough, I have not spent any time with the guys from JUDAS PRIEST, whereas Shawn (Drover - drums) has been hanging with them almost every day. It is so amusing to me to see my guys, guys that I really admire, get excited again about being out on the road or meeting someone. I guess I have just gotten to the point where people like Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are my peers and contemporaries, and we tip our hats to each other.
"I would never in my life think that as a kid looking at the back of a record cover, some 30-plus years ago, I would have a friend that would actually be one of the pictures on the back of a record I had once held in my sweaty teen-age mitts. I also had the pleasure of re-telling the story about how my brother-in-law, Bob Wilkie (RIP and may God have mercy on his soul) who was a 6’4” Scottish man, that was the Chief of Police in Stanton, California, had walked in on his son and I listening to “Sad Wings of Destiny” and felt it necessary to double up his fist, rear back and punch me in the face. Of course I was just 15 and probably a total of 100 pounds. This is the way that the Jehovah’s Witnesses in my family dealt with things around my house and family growing up.
"Although it didn’t soften the blow, it sure felt empowering to stand up and say, 'I am fucking metal! I have been metal since the first time I got punched in the face by my brother-in-law, and you see why people sometimes call the police what they do. I don’t really like calling the police pigs, unless they are pigs, and then I would quote the famous singer from the PLAASMATICS, (RIP, too W.O.W.) Wendy O. Williams, who said, 'A pig is a pig and that’s that.' I find it hard to believe that Gar Samuelson our first drummer was with Wendy, because we all thought she was incredible and certainly well endowed. This happened the time we toured with MOTÖRHEAD and the Plasmatics obviously back when Gar and Chris were still in Megadeth. More...
Megadeth Drummer Checks in from France
Megadeth drummer, Shawn Drover, has checked in with the following update from Paris:
"After 2 subsequent 15 plus hour drives, finally arriving here in Paris, France late in the day, the LAST thing I wanted to do was to go on any sight-seeing excursion - My brain is just too BBQ at the moment, so I opted to just slowly settle in and then go for a short walk (with Willie Gee, which is always entertaining for me, esp. if we stop to get any kind of food - those of you who know Willie, know exactly what I am talking about) Anyways, it was a nice afternoon, and as I write this, I am contemplating either going for another short walk, or just watching 30 Rock episodes until I fall into silent slumber - It's a toss-up, believe me.
"I have been reflecting on this current 'Priest Feast' European tour, and in all honesty, speaking for myself, this has been a career highlight for me on so many different levels. We all get along so well on this tour - Bands, crews, right down to the awesome catering, it has just been a very smooth tour for me. In my 5th year in Megs, at this point I have really seen and done alot of great things, though I constantly remind myself how lucky I am to be able to do what I was put on this planet to do, and not get jaded about it or take it for granted. The way the economy has been and knowing that old friends of mine are struggling in their respective fields, it does put thing's in perspective, believe me.
"3 shows remain on this tour, and I will make the most of it. That I can assure you."
Here are Megadeth's upcming tour dates:
Mar. 21 Paris, France - Zenith de Paris
Mar. 22 Brussels, Belgium - Forest National
Mar. 23 Amsterdam, Netherlands - Heineken Music Hall
Apr. 07 Los Angeles, CA - Club Nokia
Sabbat Pulls Out Of Hammerfest
British thrash metal legends Sabbat has announced that they will have to cancel their performance at the upcoming Hammerfest show in Wales due to guitarist Andy Sneap being needed to complete the new Megadeth album. A message posted via their official Myspace says:
"It is with regret we have to announce we are having to cancel our Hammerfest appearance at Pontins Prestatyn on the 25th April due to Andy's schedule being moved forward producing the new Megadeth album in California.
"He now returns to San Diego on April 10th to begin the final month of tracking, returning to the UK to mix for June deadline.
"Apologies for this, but the day job has to come first."
Megadeth To Headline Golden Gods Awards
Megadeth has been confirmed as the headlining performer at America's first edition of the Golden Gods awards this year which takes place on April 7th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. Other bands performing that night will be Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, All That Remains and Suicide Silence, plus Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson (AKA DJ Starscream) will be doing a special DJ set. Stay tuned for more details.
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine says: "Finally a heavy metal award, of the people, by the people, and for the people! This evening's line-up of talent is a heavy metal fan's wet dream! Only Revolver would have the credibility to make our dreams come true with the First Annual Golden Gods Awards. To see Ozzy get a lifetime achievement is long overdue. It is an honor to say, ‘YES! Megadeth will headline!’... I doubt Jethro Tull will be getting an award."
Megadeth Mainman Sings Guitarist's Praises
Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has checked in with a message about current Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick. It reads as follows:
"I just wrote about 6-700 words about Chris' birthday and the past few days, and the frickin page disappeared when I wanted to spell check it.
"So, if this isn't as colorful as my usual posts, its because there is a big black cloud over my head right now shoot lightning bolts at the computer, and the sound of thunder while I play and replay me sticking my foot through the laptop screen!
"Anyway, as y'all know, Chris Broderick turned 39 yesterday, and I am so proud of this guy. I mean, I watch him play on stage and everyday he gets better and better. We are aware of the reviews, and we still are trying to have a perfect show, so if you think that you have seen a good one, just wait until he starts to feel 100% and then after that, once I start to feel we are at 100%. Megadeth Drummer Checks In From Sweden
Megadeth are currently touring Europe along with Judas Priest and Testament. Drummer Shawn Drover has checked in with the following update:
"So I got my wish upon arriving in Stockholm yesterday, and that was to see some SNOW!!!!!! I took a good walk with James yesterday exploring the city a little bit and did witness a few good strong snow flurries, so you know that put a smile on my face The 1 thing that did suck yesterday, was that I did not see my Friend Niklas Stalvind from a great Swedish band called WOLF. He was nice enough to drop off their new c.d. for me with our crew. (Sorry Nik - we will catch up next time)
"Tonight we perform in Gothenburg, which is another great city, and since I have not been here since September 2004 (right before I joined Megadeth) I am certainly looking forward to finally performing here. As well, I am hearing that a few local friends may be stopping by, so it promises to be a fun evening."
Dave Mustaine Issues Open Letter To Metallica
Dave Mustaine has issued the following open letter to Metallica regarding their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
"Droogies!
"Metallica as you know has been selected to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, it is with much respect that I say 'congratulations!'
"I also had the nice surprise of hearing that they called to invite me to the pre-ceremony party the night before, and then to the actual ceremony. Unfortunately as you all know, I will be winding down our European tour with Judas Priest so I will be unable to attend.
"However, I'd like to say to Lars and James, 'I am so very proud of all you have accomplished. I will continue to pray for the very best for you and your families as I always have.'
"Thank you for the invitation and thinking of me.
"Respectfully yours, Dave Mustaine"
Megadeth Announces First New Song Title
Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following announcement about the title of a song from their upcoming album:
"We are doing great with the progress of finishing the writing of the new record out here. I have chosen a working title and I think that it is going to stick, and the record starts out with an instrumental that is very much like 'Into The Lungs Of Hell', and there are ten more songs that are really fantastic. The is one song on here that will probably touch a lot of people; 'The Hardest Part Of Letting Go'."
Megadeth Drummer Checks In From Dortmund
Megadeth are currently touring Europe alongside Judas Priest and Testament as part of this years Priest Feast. Drummer Shawn Drover has checked in with the following update:
"Day two of our two day off break here in Dortmund, Germany and I have to say it is certainly well deserved. It is always beneficial to 'recharge the batteries' which mostly for me just consists of getting a lot of sleep, and watching movies and/or TV shows I have downloaded from my iTunes. I had heard that a TV sitcom called 30 Rock was quite funny from a few different sources, so I purchased five episodes on my iTunes and watched them for the first time last night - I thought they were absolutely hilarious, so now of course I will purchase all the episodes today. For me, being our here in different countries, I crave the thing's I enjoy at home, so things like this bring a big smile to my face."
Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Checks In From Newcastle
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has posted a tour update from their current run of Europe along with Judas Priest and Testament. His message reads as follows: "So far the tour, and this overall trip has been beyond words!
"The beauty and the majesty of the Emerald Isle, and her people, in both countries was breathtaking.
"We had heard that the weather was going to be shite, but I reminded everyone of my close friends, that are in on my little bizzaro moments, like when the sun comes out here, whenever I come to the UK. If even for just one second. More...
Tim "Ripper" Owens To Release Solo Album In May
Former Judas Priest and Iced Earth frontman, Tim "Ripper" Owens will be releasing his first solo album this May, entitled "Play My Game." Says Owens: "I’ve gotten better as a songwriter. And I also write songs that the fans can really get into and get their fist pounding in the air. Both bands delivered records that are straight forward and go directly to the bloodstream – which also happens to be my compositional approach."
The release dates for "Play My Game" are as follows:
Germany / Austria / Switzerland: May 15th
UK / rest of Europe: May 18th
USA / Canada: May 19th
