Dave Mustaine Issues Open Letter To Metallica
Band Photo: Megadeth (?)
Dave Mustaine has issued the following open letter to Metallica regarding their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
"Droogies!
"Metallica as you know has been selected to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, it is with much respect that I say 'congratulations!'
"I also had the nice surprise of hearing that they called to invite me to the pre-ceremony party the night before, and then to the actual ceremony. Unfortunately as you all know, I will be winding down our European tour with Judas Priest so I will be unable to attend.
"However, I'd like to say to Lars and James, 'I am so very proud of all you have accomplished. I will continue to pray for the very best for you and your families as I always have.'
"Thank you for the invitation and thinking of me.
"Respectfully yours, Dave Mustaine"

Post 4 and 27 hit the nail on the f***in head as far as I'm concerned. I'm really just posting to make sure everybody reads those two comments and thinks about it.
This is basically him saying: Yeah, that's nice, but I've got better sh** to do than watch a band that kicked me out 20 years ago accept an award. I have megadeth, and I'm doing fine. People still respect my band you twats, but god bless.
As I've heard it, I think Dave wrote, or at least contributed to about half of Kill Em all, and a few songs on Ride the lightning, hence the gritty thrashiness of the first two albums, and a more epic sort of heavy metal sound on the other two.
Then again, the first album is the easiest out of the four albums to play, like, rediculously easier than the other 3 on guitar, soooo... he can go ahead and claim credit for those songs, kirk cliff and james still wrote Dyers eve and Master of Puppets, and Creeping Death is entirely kirk's fault, so, f*** him anyway, they would have been big with or without him. :P
Now playing: The Faceless- Platerary Duality
James hasn't been able to sing for about 15 years, but at least he doesn't sound like an old woman like Dave does live. All Dave cares about is "that elusive number one album." And I'm not defending Selloutica either. But I still listen to both bands' older stuff cause all that is still good sh**.
I do agree that Daves influence on the early albums was quite good, but, im a Cliff supporter... lol... My personal fave is ...And Justice For All.
I agree that this message is a f*** you in a way, but his leaving out Kirk is understandable. Why would you give congrats to your replacement? And, in response to posts 34 and 35, James might not be a great vocalist, but you have heard Daves pathetis warbling haven't you. A great and respectable musician no doubt, but a singer he is not...
I dont like Megadeth, most of the music is ok, but I (obviously) don't like the singing. I haven't liked Metallica since Cliff died (RIP) which was before i was born. I just clicked on this for a laugh.. haha
In response to the brief exchange between Kali and Red, I would like to let you guys know that yesterday, for a brief moment in time, Hell actuallym did freeze over. It snowed all day here in Georgia!!! It was my son's first time seeing it, and all he could say was, "It's raining.....It's cold.....I go back inside." He never even got off the porch. Hard to believe he'll be 3 in 2 months. Anyhoo, both of these bands are garbage now.
"congrats to lars and james!......and kirk you suck more then you did in 1983!" HAHAHAHA
thats prolly what dave wanted to write, but some metallisheep might buy his albums so he cant piss them off lol jk.
congrats to em, not a fan of anything after the black album but its cool theyre gettin in. and cant wait for new megadeth album
Terminator- Good point. The bus ride doubled Dave's metal points he acquired from kicking James' ass. Don't forgot Metallica also (initially) didn't give him any credit for the songs he wrote.
I am glad that he did get kicked out because if not the world wouldn't have had Peace Sells and RIP.
I think Dave Mustaine is butthurt that Metallica are more sucsessful than Megadeth. Not saying Metallica are BETTER than Megadeth, just more mainstream...I think Dave Mustaine wanted that. I saw Megadeth when they came to Ireland not too long ago and to be honest I was underwhelmed....Testament and Judas Priest saved the night that Megadeth nearly killed.
hmm... well if i was dave (lol ironically my real name is dave) i woulda done the same thing. seems to me that metallica is just trying to rub it in to dave, even though dave is a million times more a better musician than all of the members of metallica put together!
and the fact that dave made it all sound nice and respectful, but underneath were knives was AWESOME!
Now listening to: Shake Hands With Beef - Primus
Wow.. That was pretty cool of Mustaine. Very unusual for him to act in such class, he's usually a d***. lol @All the Metallica haters, stfu. lol Theres no doubt Mustaine is a great musician, but vocally he sounds like a troll, not to mention James Hetfield wrote some of the greatest metal songs of all time. Mustaine nor Megadeth will ever be 1/4 the band Metallica is. Mustaine even messed up the only chance he had to be a great band, when he invited Dimebag Darrell to join before Pantera lifted off, but when Dimebag said he wanted Vinnie Paul to drum, Mustaine refused, losing the best chance he had to make Megedeth a great band.
Oh also, Megadeth has also sold out now too, the last several cd's sounded like radio friendly, post thrash garbage.

not a megadeth fan overall, but that statement is false. megadeth is an eceptional band and has great skills in the metal world!!
Bruno I did find the Ritual to be a bit easier on the ears than some of their harsher albums, but I found it really reminescent of the "Practice What You Preach" or "Souls of Black". I am happier with a more aggressive sound from these guys myself though. I also seem to remember reading about Alex leaving the band to dedicate more time to his musical schooling and to start another band. I believe the Alex Skolnick Trio is a jazz group.
@ ZT* that was meant to be somewhat of a joke... Perhaps you misunderstood, what I meant was that Metallica went sh** after Burton died... Admittedly Death Magnetic was better than i expected, but that ddint stop me from giving it away without bothering to put it on the comp. Same as Slipknots new album, and Triviums, Even Cradles newie was a dissapointment... Everyones gone crappy these days. Except Lamb of Go0d. Wrath is brutal. And I have high hopes for CC's Evisceration Plague.
@ Branded even if half of Pantera were playing for him, Megadeth still would have sucked if Dave insisted on doing the vocals
Netro- The Trio is a jazz, kind of fusion band. I have massive respect for musicians in that genre, but don't own much other than Herbie. That being said, I checked it out because I was interested in what Alex has been up to and I really thought it was quite good.
Have to confess I'm very unschooled in Jazz. While I have alot of friends who try to get me to listen it just seems that this old dog is too set in his ways for new tricks :) Metal, Classical(Baroque, Classical Period, and Romantic Era), Prog and Classic Rock. Too many little sub-genres to list but you get the idea :)
hey posting 36v and 39
get your facts together dave got kicked out of the band he di dkick nobodys a$$ at all he got kicked out due to druggs and booze and yes he had to take the greyhound back home
think dave is the losser on the end here
and dumb question wich influence did he had on there music
do think not so much
but i can be wrong
The Met. Boys supposedably had a few near misses with Dave's inebriated driving skills on the way to New Jersey. However, breaking into Johnny Z's house, grabbing a bottle of vodka and showing up sh**faced at Rock & Roll Heaven (Z's record store to all you youngens) is what sealed his fate. Or so that's what I was told from them first handers.
He has better things to do,like perform at an awards show with lots of kick-ass bands like SLAYER,Killswitch Engage;Ozzy will appear along w/ members of Korn,Lemmie,Tool,&Corey Taylor of Slipknot is to play a DJ set.More appearances, too many to list here-who wants to be the brunt of Metallica jokes, anyway?A wussy, glorified trade show, the R&R Whores of Fame..
Hey every one and all metal heads lets all come together like they had, i know they had issues in the past but dave mustaine and james hetfield putted that bullsh** away in 2000's
and i am a megadeth fan so as a metallica fan i like them both and i wish megadeth goodluck and i wish they get in to the hall of fame some time too and i am so very proud of metallica too and for respectfully inviting dave mustaine for their inductee's. it shows respect for one for each other. be apart of it megadeth fans and metallica fans, put the megadeth vs metallica sh** away and just be as one.
Quit being fa**ot fanboys and arguing over Metallica and Megadeth.
You guys should all be thanking James and Lars, too. If not for them kicking Dave out, we'd never have Megadeth. And I'm proud to say I love and support both of them, while you're griping about 'ohh metallica sold out blah blah' or 'bawww dave is just p***ed he got kicked out blah blah' I'll be enjoying both of their ass-kicking music.
As I see it on their site the last show of that "Priest Feast" tour is on March 23rd, lots of time to make it on April 3th and 4th. Why couldn't he just be straight here, not lying again? Like "Thank you, guys, but it is your show, would feel awkward next to Kirk, after I said so much childish crap not long ago, and would not feel well feeling that Megadeth is considered as cool as I want it to be considered, number 1 in the world and so on...".

He must have had someone else write this and then put his name on it, because other than the "I've always been praying for you" bit he didn't saying anything too outrageously annoying, offensive, or childish.
