That's cool and mighty "brave" heroic of each mega Master band MEGADETH & SLAYER it was said that Dave Mustaine also choose METALLICA to be on the Concert billing, too. I saw that on the MetalHammer news 'site. Anyway, all the best with their up coming Tour & albums & getting along when finally on the road with each other. cheers!

I know all you whipper snappers are excited about these two being on the same bill, but I have to say that i've seen Megadeth in the last 5 years and they just don't hold a candle to what they used to be. Slayer on the other hand... What can I say? I will see them every time they are within 200 miles of me and have done so over the last 20 years and i've NEVER been dissappointed. I will go, but i'll probably skip Megadeth. I'm sure there will be plenty of beer to drink during their set. Then I can get naked and run through the crowd screaming SLAAAAYER!!!!

BlindGreed- I don't know, are you familiar with the latest guitarist Dave picked up? His name is Chris Broderick and he is formerly of Nevermore. I know what you mean about the Drover brothers, I wasn't impressed with them either, but if you have ever listened to Nevermore? I have, and am very optimistic about what the new guitarist can add to the mix.

Bruno: I know who Chris is and I like his previous work (even though he can sometimes be a bit stale solo wise - technically he's awesome- I think there just needs to be more "heart" in his solo's), I just don't think Megadeth's material is as good as it used to be and although i'm sure you'll hear the staples of their repetoire (Peace Sells, Hangar 18, etc.) it just ait what it used to be. The Dover brothers version of Megadeth was a joke IMO.

BlindGreed- My biggest complaint is no Junior, so I hear you. I know where you are coming from, I just watched a DVD last night of 'Deth live in 1992, but to me this is a perfect billing. The end of Slayer and Megadeth is in the near future, and I think they are "burying the hatchet", so to speak, and showing class by giving the fans something that we have wanted for years that the bands have previously refused to do because of Kerry and Dave's egos. To you it is too little too late, but for ten of thousands of people across the country this is phenomenal news.

I'm a Megadeth fan from way back (saw the original at the Metroplex in Atl) but Dave's gone kinda bonkers lately. With his religious "conversion", the music just won't seem genuine to me. Maybe I shouldn't feel this way,but I can't help it. I wonder if Slayer has been banned from playing tunes like The Crooked Cross, South of Heaven, Christ Illusion, etc. etc. If Dave refused to play with Rotting Christ, I don't understand why Slayer is OK. I sense a bit of good old fashioned Christian hypocrasy here. I suspect it may be all about the Ben Franklins.

utoad9: You bring up a very good point. This may not be set in stone just yet. I seriously doubt the mighty Slayer will bow down to Dave's demands regarding setlist and material.
Bruno: I realize this is a huge deal for many, but I just can't help but agree with utoad9 and stand by my previous statement about the new Megadeth. I know that a lot of people never got the chance to see them in their prime and for those who haven't maybe they won't recognize the difference (actually, I hope they don't), but for me seeing Megadeth without Dave Elefson and Marty Friedman (or even the mighty Chris Poland) is just kind of meh...

Blindgreed1, right you are.The concert that I mentioned above was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen many. They were promoting Peace Sells... and the opening act was Overkill. Thrash had just been born. The crowd was about 50% hardcore, shirtless, Doc Marten wearing, skin-head types and 50% long haired, leather and stud wearing metal heads. Total mayhem with people diving into the crowd from the balcony, stage diving , and true Slam Dancing (not just psuedo-jocks trying to be cool). Ah, the good-ole days!
38. writes:
utoad- I think the biggest difference is that Rotting Christ musicially sucks balls and barely plays to 500 people. Slayer are metal legends and headline arenas. With Slayer, they "go back" nearly thirty years, they will be touring with a band that will make them step up their performance each night, and will get a legitimate paycheck.
BlindGreed- Just wondering, how do you feel about other band(s) from that era, like Exodus or Anthrax for example, where minus the Christian aspect, the exact same argument could be made?
I think the underlying issue here is Dave's recent conversation to Christianity. I am right guys?
39. writes:
Bruno: Love Exodus, Anthrax? I'm kinda 50/50 there. I think Dave lost the wind in his sails sometime around the time he broke his wrist dirt biking. Granted, the Christianity thing definately was a turn off for me, but it wasn't the show stopper. Being a d!ck to Elefson was probably the straw that broke the camels back with me. That guy was there from the beginning and Dave treated him like total sh!t when they split.
40. writes:
BlindGreed- Agreed on pretty much everything you said. Exodus to me has bounced back from a lot of problems, much respect to them. Anthrax, on the other hand, needs to disappear and never return. For me, it was very difficult to overlook the "booting" of Junior. That was ultra weak to say the least.
But in seriousness, I believe that Slayer should headline every night.

Dave Ellefson is a class act. He took years of Mustaine's sh** as well. The guy refuses to talk smack to this day, and says that if Mustaine wanted him back in Megadeth he'd do it in a heartbeat. Great bassist and pretty down to earth dude for being in such a huge metal band. I'm glad to see he's still out there keeping busy with Temple of Brutality, F5, and Killing Machine.

f***ing hell yeah
indeed they became friends again
but do think megadeth will be only suport act on this tour
well at least i hope so
did see megadeth with judas priest and testament last month
have to say megadeth was not bad
but with this christian sh** he is in too , he was on stage f***ed up
do like dave as a drunk
peace sells

We should take the time to make a chart to find out which lineup would, in fact, be the most possible (And literal) tour of the apocalypse. Ideally for this to happen, you need an uber-christian band, with the most trve, brutal, and kvlt band ever.
Megadeth is out since Dave Mustaine, though he follows, isn't exactly exemplary for a Christian.
Kerry King is an atheist, so regardless of how many times you hear "Hail Satan" on a track, I doubt it. Of course it would be good irony if Kerry King turns out to be the savior. The same goes for Glen Benton.
Behemoth would have to, somehow, play a role in any apocalypse. They even took their name from a biblical beast. However, Nergal is a Thelemite, not a Satanist.
Had Euronymous not died, Mayhem would be the excellent candidate. Dissection would've been PERFECT, but the frontman is already dead. Gaahl/Gorgoroth/God Seed would be cool, but Gaahl is in fact a shaman.

Good god... is this thing really true???? Why would Slayer tour with Mustaine & co???? WHy??? Ok... ok, this is only a nightmare. This isnt happening. No way would Slayer ever tour with Megadeth!! Good one!! The next time I log in to Metal Underground this bit of news is not here. Ahh... I almost had a heart attack
70. writes:
You'd think that hell would freeze over before this ever happened. Hopefully Dave and Kerry can finallllly burry the hatchet. They should take out some of the awesome new thrash bands like Warbringer and Lazarus A.D. Hope it's true and not some rumor and if it is, I'll def go if there's and Illinois show.

Woah!! Sh** that would be HEAVY!! A few other people have mentionted but I'd love to see Lamb Of God with them!! Also a few others but open with Mother F***ing "Redneck" and you'll see everybody there forming a friggin massive moshpit. ROCK ON M0THER F***ERS!!!
79. writes:
GoreC, but then again, the fact is that Slayer's record sales are heading south, so try to pull some sort of commercial miracle (my opinion) by touring with Dave The c*** Mustaine doesnt look very good to me, at least. Actually... no one should ever tour with Megadeth. That band is like some tropical disease; It just wont go away.

Some of you guy's are not loaded with a lot of common sense...making plea's for this tour to come to LA sounds pretty dumb to me!! What American band would plan a tour and not play LA?
As far as the line up..Slayer is still Slayer..older but still Slayer. Megadeth had one line up that finally put them on the map and for many stupid reasons most of us couldn't relate to that line up doesn't exist anymore! The Rust in Peace/Countdown version of Megadeth was the best and still is. Again why this version couldn't stand the test of time is still a great loss to us all. I guess with all of the drugs and problems Dave was having back then it wasn't meant to be.

VO- Are YOU serious VO? I just glanced over this thread and saw people "shout out" dates for North Carolina, Florida, New Orleans, DC area, Vancouver, Wisconsin, Calgary, Montreal, etc but no LA. Perhaps it is you who is not "loaded with common sense", just loaded with your pretentious opinion. Where do you get off b****ing and moaning that people want to request, on a metal site no less, a Slayer/Megadeth concert in their town? Oh, you are so much "more metal" than Kristine. Typical keyboard warrior.

You're an idiot... Ever crossed your simple mind that it might just be European tour? Or are we not worthy of it, here in Europe?
95. writes:
M, you are the very proof of what I said.....Magadeth and Slayer together would most likely be playing in the US. Who cares if it ends up a European only tour? Nobody but you it appears. Both of these bands have a lot more to prove to the States than they do overseas. Slayer is a great that continues to sound and record very similar tunes. I have no problem with that if that makes them happy but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have like to see them take more chances in there sound and song structure. Megadeth can't keep the same line up past an album release or 18 months, whichever comes first.
I stand by my original statement it's ridiculous to shout out a tour stop as popular as Los Angeles. Even more stupid is to think a "Europen Only" tour would be flipped into and American tour based on a shout out. You guy's are young and dumb.....Tours are usually planned around product sales...and where these bands sell is where they will most likely stop. Again...common sense no longer exists...These are two 25 yearl old bands. They know where they can play and will play.

Let's see. Seen Slayer a bunch of times. Seen Megadeth a bunch of times. Don't need to go and see this cash cow again. Actually, does anyone really care about Dave Mustaine and his 'christian habit'? Megadeth died when he became a born again Christian. There is no room for Christianity in Metal.

do have to say
if you got a religion keep it to your self
but thinkbands like stryper is kind of cool metal
andyea for slayer and megadeth indeed they can play were ever they want
but think they prevere to play europe
thats were the metal sceene got born and still is today
shows still sell out complete
so for bands like that its nowadays music and most of all the money
think they would prevere more money than empty halls in the usa
