Quiet Riot frontman James Durbin premieres his debut solo single "Kings Before You", featuring Fozzy singer Chris Jericho and guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head, Vio-Lence). Quiet Riot's Frankie Banali Dies Aged 68
Frankie Banali, best known as the drummer for American heavy metal legends Quiet Riot, has died at the age of 68 following a recent stroke. Banali was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer last year and went through no less than twenty rounds of chemotherapy prior to his passing. The news of his death was broken by metal DJ Eddie Trunk, who stated:
"It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of Frankie Banali. As many know, Frankie had been battling cancer and passed away last night. He was a great person, friend & musician. Join me now on #TrunkNation @siriusxmvolume 106 as we remember him."
Banali first recorded with Quiet Riot on the classic "Metal Health" record, the first heavy metal album to top the charts in the United States and also had stints with W.A.S.P., Billy Idol and Steppenwolf. More...

Quiet Riot Drummer Diagnosed With Cancer
Frankie Banali, the longtime drummer of heavy metal legends Quiet Riot, has revealed that he has been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer since April of this year. A statement from the drummer reads as follows:
"I just want to let all of my friends and fans know what’s going on with me and why I have unfortunately missed some appearances this year. Since April 17th I have been battling stage four pancreatic cancer.
"The original prognosis was very scary. I had quite a battle on my hands and it took a lot, but I am thankful to say that after several rounds of chemo and other treatments I am on the mend. The road ahead is not going to be easy but cancer has met its match and I plan to continue fighting. I wish I could have been with you all at every Quiet Riot performance as this is the first time in 38 years I have ever missed a gig.
"Please know that if I had been able to fly on a plane and play a show nothing else would have stopped me. I am feeling much better and stronger now.
"I intend to play the Quiet Riot concert at the Whiskey A Go Go on Saturday October 26th and to continue touring in 2020 with Quiet Riot, so I hope to see you there. I appreciate all the fans that support Quiet Riot by coming to shows and I hope you will all continue that support as well as keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

Quiet Riot To Film Live DVD
American heavy metal veterans Quiet Riot has revealed to Italian publication, Linea Rock that they are planning to film their upcoming performance at the Frontiers Rock Festival (April 28th) for a new DVD. Speaking with the channel, drummer Frankie Benali said:
"It's really amazing when you think about the fact that we recorded the Metal Health record in 1982, it came out in 1983, and in 35 years, we have never, ever played Italy. This is historic. I am so looking forward to it. I've been to Italy before, with my parents, and I actually was in Milan in 1989 with W.A.S.P. We were supposed to play a show, and something happened and the show didn't happen, but I had very good pasta. I'm going to have one very special surprise in one of the songs. Quiet Riot Lets The "Freak Flag" Fly
Quiet Riot continues a historic journey in 2017 with new album "Road Rage." Led by drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by veteran bassist Chuck Wright , guitarist Alex Grossi, and new vocalist James Durbin, the band continues to be an unstoppable force in the rock 'n roll world.
Following delays for re-recording after the departure of the band's previous vocalist, "Road Rage" is now set for release August 4th, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Quiet Riot Delays Album Release To Re-Record
Following the departure of singer Seann Nicols from Quiet Riot, both Frontiers Music Srl and band leader Frankie Banali have made the joint decision to delay the release of new record "Road Rage" until later this summer.
Both the band and label feel that in order to truly represent Quiet Riot's lineup, new lead singer James Durbin should be the vocalist on "Road Rage." In order to execute that plan and promote the album accordingly, the band will go back into the studio and record the album with Durbin on vocals.
Regarding the decision, Banali said, "After careful consideration, with the support of Frontiers and understanding the appeals from Quiet Riot fans to have our vocalist James Durbin represented on the new release, we have made the decision to move forward and have James replace all the vocals on "Road Rage" with new lyrics and melodies for a summer 2017 release. Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of Quiet Riot's new studio album entitled "Road Rage" on April 21st, 2017.
Famously known as the first heavy metal band to top the pop charts, the Los Angeles quartet became a global sensation thanks to monstrous smash hit 1983 album, "Metal Health."
The band now continues this historic journey in 2017 with founding member and drummer Frankie Banali, who on this new release is joined by veteran bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi together with new vocalist Seann Nicols.

Tomorrow, UDR Music will release "Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute," an album of cover tracks recorded to memorialize Randy Rhoads, lead guitarist for legendary hard rock and metal bands Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot. The digipack version of the album will also include an accompanying bonus DVD.

On March 3rd, UDR Music will release "Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute" to memorialize Randy Rhoads, lead guitarist for legendary hard rock and metal bands Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot. The digipack version of the album will also include an accompanying bonus DVD.
Today, Loudwire.com is hosting the premiere of an unreleased clip from the bonus DVD, which features an interview with Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot/Ozzy Osbourne). The in-depth interview discusses Sarzo’s work on the record and his memories of Randy Rhoads, as well as other topics. The interview is conducted by producer Bob Kulick and can be seen below (and as a bonus, Serj Tankian does not sing at all!)

Rhandy Rhoads Tribute On The Way
The late, great Randy Rhoads (heralded as the lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot) will be celebrated with the release of "Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute" on March 3rd, 2015 via UDR Music.
A collection of 11 classic Rhoads co-written songs, "Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute" is performed by twenty contemporary artists, including old friends and performing partners Rudy Sarzo and Frankie Banali, his brother Kelle Rhoads and musicians like Serj Tankian, Tom Morello, Vinny Appice, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Chuck Billy, Alexi Laiho, George Lynch, Gus G., Bruce Kulick, Doug Aldrich, Dweezil Zappa and others.
The album was produced and compiled by the Grammy-award winning guitarist and producer Bob Kulick at his own studio.
Along with the album, "Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute" will also contain a bonus DVD available in the digipack version, including interesting interviews with some of the involved artists and a feature on the Musonia School of Music, a teaching school on North Hollywood, California, set up by Randy’s mother and run by his brother Kelle Rhoads. Quiet Riot Posts Documentary Trailer Online
American heavy metal veterans, Quiet Riot, has posted a trailer online for their forthcoming documentary movie, "Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back." You can check it out below. The film is currently in production with a release date to be set for some time in 2012. A synopsis for the film reads as follows:
"Our story follows Frankie Banali, a world renown drummer you probably remember from the 80's band Quiet Riot. As a single soccer dad in the suburbs, his long hair and tattoos frighten the neighbors, but to other drummers he's a hero. His career took a major sideswipe when his singer Kevin DuBrow died in 2007. At a cross roads in his life he must forge ahead and make a new life for himself and his daughter.
"This film takes a trip back through time to the decade of debauchery and decadence. Real home videos shot backstage, on the tour bus, in the recording studio, and in hotel rooms with one of the 80's top platinum selling bands and most notorious bad boys. Never before seen footage from the milestones in Frankie's long career in music and his personal life now. Funny, and deeply personal and poignant exploration of Frankie's long time friendship with his band mate Kevin DuBrow. Quiet Riot Cancels Australian Tour
Reunited heavy metal veterans Quiet Riot has announced that they have cancelled their previously announced tour of Australia and New Zealand, stating: "As a consequence of the promoter’s breach of contract the Metal Health Tour scheduled for April 2011 in Australia and new zealand has been cancelled." The tour was scheduled to kick off at the end of this month and the band were to bring fellow California rockers Warrant and L.A. Guns with them.
Quiet Riot Announces Australian Tour
The recently reunited heavy metal veterans Quiet Riot have announced that they will be heading down under for a headlining tour of Australia, with one stop in New Zealand. Joining them on the trek will be L.A. Guns (fronted by Phil Lewis) and Warrant, who now feature former Lunch Mob vocalist Robert Mason behind the mic. You can check out a trailer for the tour below.

Former Dio Guitarist Forms New Band
Craig Goldy, the current guitarist for Welsh hard rock legends Budgie and former guitarist of Dio, has announced that he has formed a new band with vocalist Chas West (Bonham,) bass player Sean McNabb (Quiet Riot, Great White) and drummer Gary Holland (Great White.) The band currently have no name but Goldy stated:
“The idea is to put the rock star back into everyone’s lives. So, you’ve got four people who look great, are amazing at their craft and the music pierces your soul. And they’re all good people. I think."

Sunday Old School: Quiet Riot
With the recent announcement that Quiet Riot are to return this year with a new vocalist in tow, it seemed as good a time as any to take a look at the band, and how they broke a major barrier for the genre of heavy metal. The band made a name for themselves in the 1980s but were actually formed by guitarist Randy Rhoads in 1973 under the name Mach 1. The group used this moniker for a short while, before changing it to Little Women until they made the wise choice to change their name once again, this time to the label we know them today, Quiet Riot. While the name may sound like a way to stick in people's minds, it actually has a fairly humourous origin. While the band were talking with Rick Parfitt of the legendary British rock band Status Quo, Parfitt mentioned he'd like to name a band "Quite Right," but owing to his English accent, the band members mistakingly believed he said, "Quiet Riot" and settled on the moniker.
The band slugged it out in their native Los Angeles with their new name for two years before eventually landing a deal with Sony. Strangely though, the deal only entitled the band's albums to be released in Japan. They released their self-titled first album the same year, which featured covers of songs by the likes of Dave Clark Five and The Small Faces. A second album, simply named, "Quiet Riot II" followed in 1978, but the band parted ways with bass player Kelly Garni soon after, with future Ozzy Osbourne, Dio and Whitesnake bassist Rudy Sarzo replacing him. The next year would see another lineup change for the group, when founding guitarist Rhoads left for what proved to be a critically acclaimed, though ultimately tragic stint as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist. Quiet Riot soldiered on for a while, but eventually changed their name to DuBrow, after the band's vocalist, and went through a number of lineup changes. More...

Quiet Riot To Return With New Singer
American heavy metal veterans Quiet Riot have announced that they will be returning this year to perform a headlining tour of the United States, their first since lead singer Kevin DuBrow sadly passed away in 2007. The lineup features drummer Frankie Benali, as well as guitarist Alex Grossi and bass player Chuck Wright, as well a new singer in the form of Mark Huff. The group consulted with DuBrow's mother before deciding on once again touring as Quiet Riot. The band will also be releasing a documentary in the future. You can hear re-recorded versions of some of the band's songs with Huff on vocals by heading to the band's official website.
