Shape Of Despair is set to inject some melancholy into your life this June 16th with the release of "Monotony Fields" via Season Of Mist.
Now less than a month from release, we're bringing you an official premiere of new song "The Distant Dream of Life." Listen in exclusively below. Shape Of Despair also comments:
"Originally this song was intended as an intro to the 'Monotony Fields' album. Even this one has quite Rapture alike start, we felt to end this in a Shape Of Despair way, slowing pace down and to insert bit of hopelessness inside. To bring out a slightly different character of the album, we present to you the shortest and possibly the catchiest song of the album."
Following a recent stream of the album's title track, the Finnish funeral doom pioneers from Shape Of Despair are streaming a second new track from their new album, "Monotony Fields."
The track, "Descending Inner Night," is streaming now below. "Monotony Fields" will be released by Season of Mist on June 16th in North America. Regarding the new track, Shape Of Despair comments:
"We have played this song under its working title 'Unresolved' only in the Ukraine and Russia so far. The Finnish funeral doom pioneers from Shape Of Despair have announced the title of their forthcoming album: "Monotony Fields."
The album will be released by Season of Mist on June 16th in North America. Shape Of Despair also comments:
"We are proud to announce Season of Mist as our new label. Since our latest album 'Illusion's Play' was released 10 years ago, we can already reveal that our long awaited follow-up full-length will express misery in new ways. As we have published EP's and our first releases via various labels, we are pleased to have found a steady home and look forward to a long lasting partnership."
Formed in 1995, Shape Of Despair has released "Shades of..." (2000), "Angels of Distress" (2001), and "Illusion's Play." (2004). Stay tuned for more details.
Season of Mist is proud to welcome Shape Of Despair back to the roster. The Finnish funeral doom band is not really new to the label, which already released Shape Of Despair's albums "Shades of..." and "Illusion’s Play," as well as the "Shape of Despair" compilation in North America.
The band’s forthcoming full-length will be released via Season of Mist on a worldwide scale. Shape Of Despair also comments:

Aftermath Music has issued the following announcement about releasing previous albums from Finnish doom act Shape of Despair on vinyl:
"News from Aftermath music for all the vinyl lovers & collectors: we are proud to present the back catalogue from the most influential doom band of the 21st century, Shape of Despair, on vinyl.

Finland's Shape of Despair has issued the following announcement about playing the upcoming Hammer Open Air festival:

Finland's Shape of Despair has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a new vocalist:
"Time to share some news: Just before this year, SOD and Pasi Koskinen parted ways. We got very few close persons in mind who could fit inside the band's chemistry and share the same passion for our music.
"Welcome our newest member Henri Koivula.
"Henri is known from his other band Throes of Dawn, which released magnificent The great fleet of echoes - album last year. As for now, we are already started rehearsing our older songs and most importantly new songs. New songs are in progress and full album is planned to be released on next year 2012.
"But before anything, be sure to grab yourself our vinyls 'Written in my scars' and soon to be out split with Portugese doomer Before the rain where we've performed Lycia's Estrella."

Finland's Shape of Despair has announced a new EP release titled "Written in My Scars." The artwork for the new EP can be viewed at this location. The band is also currently streaming a new song online from the EP. The title track can be heard via the Solarfall Records MySpace page.
Poland's Foreshadow Productions have released the following update:
A massive project on which we have been working for four years now is taking the final shapes. We have gathered 12 bands from all over the world. They recorded their own versions of some of SKEPTICISM songs, which we will release as a double CD set under the name of "Entering the Levitation: a Tribute to Skepticism". The whole album will be released together with two labels from USA , namely Red Stream and Oak Knoll. The official release date has been set to the 4th June 2007.

Metal label Season Of Mist have announced a North American licensing deal consisting of four releases from Finland's Spinefarm/Spikefarm Records.
The releases are from the bands SHAPE OF DESPAIR, TO SEPARATE THE FLESH FROM THE BONES and REVEREND BIZARRE.
The official North American street date for all four will be August 9th, 2005 and will be available via Caroline Distribution as well as direct from Season Of Mist (USA).

On 29.03.2005 Shape of Despair, featuring singer Pasi Koskinen ( ex- AMORPHIS, AJATTARA) will enter Sundicoop Studios to record one new track called Sleeping Murder. The track will appear in the new, low priced self-titled CD which will be out this summer on Spikefarm/Spinefarm. Beside this track, the CD will include rare and unreleased tracks.
Shape Of Despair's guitarist Jarno Salomaa has a new side project called THE MIST AND THE MORNING DEW. The band is already signed to the U.S. based label Vendlus Records. Click here to check out the project's new website.
