Lord Dying Posts New Music Video Online
Portland progressive sludge masters Lord Dying have unleashed their new single / video "The Universe Is Weeping," taken from their long-awaited new full-length, "Clandestine Transcendence," which is released 19th January 2024 via MNRK Heavy. You can check out the video, which originally premiered via Decibel, below.
Vocalist / guitarist Erik Olson comments on the new single: "We are very psyched to premiere the opening track and video for 'The Universe Is Weeping' off our upcoming album. This song picks up directly where our previous album leaves off. Post death. Blazing beyond the cosmos and outside the realms of consciousness. Total dissolution of the self. Into Clandestine Transcendence."
Bassist Alyssa Maucere, who directed and produced the video, adds: "When asked to direct the video for 'The Universe Is Weeping,' I couldn’t help but tackle the concept of the Cosmic Calendar. For instance, the Universe’s birthdate is January 1st. Life on earth = Sept 30th. Human history is Dec 31st at 23:59:57. We consume everything in our path as our sources of energy, some of which have been on earth for over 600 million years. If the past can tell us anything about life, a new life form could come along one day that decides that they can house us, raise us, and overfeed us to become their most preferred source of energy. Or we could just destroy each other before that day may come, which seems more likely to me." More...

Entombed A.D. Unleashes Hell In Bristol
Continuing the string of exciting touring partnerships recently, which have included the likes of Amon Amarth & Testament and Rotting Christ & Inquisition, Entombed A.D. are currently on the road in support of their latest album, "Dead Dawn," with another of metal's highly respected veterans, Voivod, joined along the way by Lord Dying and Morbid Evils. Last Sunday, the tour rolled into Bristol for a show at the Fleece which had a surprisingly small attendance but a huge atmosphere.
Kicking off the evening was Finnish doom metal trio, Morbid Evils, featuring Rotten Sound vocalist Keijo Niinimaa. The group really live up to their sub-genre's name, taking to the stage shortly after doors opened and letting loose a highly morose sound, which caught the attention of the early birds in the audience. Performing material from their debut album, "In Hate With the Burning World," the three Finns could be one to watch for all fans of doom metal, though listeners who aren't so keen on very slow, very dour music may not find what they're looking for. Lord Dying Inflicts "A Wound Outside Time"
Portland, Oregon's Lord Dying released sophomore album "Poisoned Altars" earlier this year via Relapse Records. Recently the band completed work on a video for the "A Wound Outside Time" single, directed and edited by Brett Roberts and Jon Meyer. Check it out below.
Front man Erik Olson comments: "We're psyched to release this new video! This vid pays homage to our favorite early 90's death metal videos, like Bolt Thrower's 'Cenotaph,' Unleashed's 'Before the Creation of Time,' Entombed's 'Left Hand Path,' etc. We really love the quick flashes of cliched over the top imagery and slow motion head banging sequences that infest so many videos of that era. Enjoy, and catch us on the road." More...
Battlecross Comments On Upcoming Shows
The Motor City thrashers from Battlecross have announced that they will join Crowbar and Lord Dying on The Summer of Doom Tour, with the devastation beginning May 28th and ending July 3rd in Crowbar's home state of Louisiana. Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala comments:
"I am beyond excited to tour with one of my favorite bands, Crowbar. Ever since I heard Odd Fellows Rest, I've been a fan. Kirk Windstein is such a monster guitar player. His riffs are inspiring. It's an honor to be able to hit the road with these guys and I'm thankful and excited for the opportunity. We're excited to get back out there, especially Western Canada (it's been too long!) See you all soon!"
The Summer of Doom is the first tour for Battlecross since finishing the production of a third Metal Blade release, produced by Mark Lewis and engineered by Jason Suecof at Audiohammer Studios. The tour also puts an end to the band's search for a permanent drummer, announcing that the Bay Area's Alex Bent will sit behind the kit. Catch the band live: More...
