Beaten To Death

From: Oslo , Norway
Last Known Status: Active

Background

Norwegian Oslo-based quintet Beaten To Death release their first album, "Xes And Strokes", consisting of 9 songs, 1 second of silence, and 18 min 36 sec gritty but strangely catchy grindcore!

Ultrafast drumming, ferocious guitars, snarling bass and intense vocals is the foundation of the B2D-sound. Add hauntingly beautiful harmonies and a brutal groove, and what you have is an energetic collection of death metal & grindcore you won’t be able to sit still to, no-matter what your taste in music happens to be!

Recorded 100 % live in studio over one weekend (with just the vocals added a few days later), this surely is a “what you see is what you get”-album!

The band is:

Anders Bakke – vocals
Martin Rygge – guitar/backing vocals
Tommy Hjelm – guitar/backing vocals
Mika Martinussen – bass
Christian “Bartender” Svendsen – drums

Beaten To Death Working On Third Album

Norwegian grindcore squad Beaten To Death is currently writing material for a third as-yet-untitled studio album, tentatively due for release in late 2014.

The recordings for the follow-up to 2013’s “Dødsfest!” will start next month and it will be entirely recorded and mixed by the band at the Beaten To Death rehearsal room. Here’s what bassist Mika Martinussen had to say about this new album:

"Third time's a charm; Beaten To Death will record the follow-up to Dødsfest! in July, because - let's face it - we're not getting any younger, and ground-breaking records in the grindcore genre don't record and release themselves!

"As usual, the recording will take place over the course of a few days at the bands rehearsal space, and the recording and mixing will - for better or worse (almost certainly worse) - be taken care of by the band itself. Approximately one third of the songs needed to fill an album's worth of their trademark brew of catchy and brutal grind is already written, and it seems the band of brothers still have something to offer to those with an open mind, willing to lend an ear and join in on the fun.

"In the meantime, to endure the wait for new material, please feel free to enjoy this filmed-using-a-mounted-GoPro-excerpt from the bands recent gig with Melt-Banana in Oslo, featuring seven songs from both Xes And Strokes and Dødsfest!" More...

Here’s what drummer Christian "Bartender" Svendsen had to say about the recording process of the new album: "I think we gain more than we lose when we record live. It's far from perfect but it sounds ten times more authentic than your typical metal record."

Vocalist Anders Bakke complements, "The guitars sound like a shotgun marriage between The Troggs and Big Black, and oddly enough it blends perfectly with the brutality of the rhythm section, like warm poo with hard snow."
