The Unguided Posts New Music Video Online

As a surprise and special thank you to their fans, Swedish melodic death metal unit The Unguided have just released a new official music video for the dreamy crusher "Where Love Comes To Die."

With their new track, the Swedes once again prove that the well-balanced symbiosis of pop-inspired elements in combination with merciless heaviness and lyrics with depth succeeds with ease and that their songs absolutely stay in your head. In four minutes, the track takes you on a journey through a diverse sound construct and makes you scream for more! You can check it out below, along with a recent interview Richard Sjunnesson did with Metal Underground.

The Unguided's Richard Sjunnesson states:
"We’ve been sitting on this video for quite some while now! Our first thought was to save it for an eventual tour but that’s not going to happen in quite some time, so we just decided to do an interactive event with the fans to “unlock” the new music video. It’s for the only ballad on the album Father Shadow and we once again got the opportunity to work with Patric Ullaeus who filmed both “Crown Prince Syndrome” & “Where Love Comes To Die” during the same day! Roger and my sister and her husband can be seen in the video as the actors." More...

The Unguided Releases New Lyric Video

Swedish frontrunners The Unguided draw you into the deep, dark underbelly of their gloomy antithesis of pure harshness and rousing melodies, forming an unbeatable framework of melodic death metal. Their smashing third single, "Stand Alone Complex," is cut from their upcoming album, "Father Shadow," out this Friday, October 9 via Napalm Records.

"Stand Alone Complex" re-opens the heavy doors to The Unguided's universe of brutal growls and clean and catchy choruses, attacking the listener’s eardrum at breakneck speeds and sticking in their mind forever. Their third offering showcases another facet of their characteristic symbiosis of melodic death metal mixed with remarkable electronic influences and conspicuous metalcore elements.

Richard Sjunnesson of The Unguided on the new single “Stand Alone Complex”:
"“Stand Alone Complex” is a classic The Unguided song in terms of structure and vibe. And drives the narrative of Seth and Gaia deeper into their coming realization and burden. It was a bit of an underdog song during the pre-production phase but once everything was in place it got new air under its wings and lifted neatly. The intro, with its captivating synth and heavy riffs, is crushing on its own and that last double chorus always gives me the feels."

The lyric video, along with Metal Underground's recent interview with Richard Sjunnesson, can be found below. More...

With their new full-length, these Nordic heavyweights prove that they can’t be pigeonholed. Eleven quick-tempered, high-voltage pieces indicate that The Unguided have liberated themselves from the shadows of the past but are still aware of their manifold roots. The Unguided To Release New Album In October

Swedish Melodic Death Metal formation The Unguided break down barriers with their upcoming long player, Father Shadow, to be released on October 9th via Napalm Records.

With their new full-length, these Nordic heavyweights prove that they can’t be pigeonholed. Eleven quick-tempered, high-voltage pieces indicate that The Unguided have liberated themselves from the shadows of the past but are still aware of their manifold roots. The intoxicating mixture of clean hooklines and classifying screams lead up to a unique symbiosis of pure harshness. “Crown Prince Syndrome” is the first offering off Father Shadow and showcases the unmistakable supremacy of the Swedish four piece.

Along with the first single, they are also introducing their new band line-up, since their former bass-player Henric Liljesand departed the band to concentrate on other projects. But nevertheless, The Unguided are more than ready to present their razor-sharp arrangement and hard-hitting sense for modern melodic death metal interlaced with core and electronic elements. Pit Stories: Brave Art

Each week on Metal Underground, musicians tell us some of their craziest and strangest memories from shows they've performed or attended. This week, Roger Sjunnesson, guitar player in The Unguided, told us all about his love of "the wall of death."

"For most people moshing and crowd surfing at concerts are compared to chaos. For us, it's a beautiful work of art. It´s basically like ants going crazy for a potato chip, and that´s the big charm about it. For me moshing is a relief and it helps me get the anger out. If people fall we would stop the pit and help them up, and when the moshing is done, we always high five each other and shake hands. Honestly, if you plan to go to a metal concert just doing nothing. You might as well stay home and listen to the band on the computer or cd in my opinion.

"For a couple of years we were playing a festival show with The Unguided in Gothenburg (which happens to be the capital of heavy metal), which left us with some great mosh and circle pit memories. We played quite early so we had no expectations how big crowd would. But when we finally hit stage, the crowd were surprisingly big (a couple of thousand for sure) and they were going totally ape shit right from the start!! Sooner in the set, right in the middle of our last song our vocalist Richard told the crowd to split up into two teams. Which formed a gap bigger than a fu*king canyon! We were planning to do the "Brave Heart" named after the first battle scene of the movie Brave Heart (also more familiar known as a “Wall of death”).

"People were lined up and beyond ready to break legs and melt faces as I slowly counted down. As a final step, Richard throw his stage shoes out in the crowd and screamed GO! We started to play the last chorus of the song and people were running like crazy into each other. Wow I've always wanted to be in the front line of a wall of death because it looks absolutely insane!!"

The Unguided is a five piece metal band from Sweden who just released our fourth album "And the Battle Royale" through Napalm Records.

The Unguided Is "Legendary"!

Swedish modern metal act The Unguided teamed up with Metal Underground.com to bring you the lyric video for the new single "Legendary." The song is taken from the new album "And The Battle Royal" coming on November 10th via Napalm Records. Pre-order the album now at this location.

The album features new frontman/guitatist Jonathan Thorpenberg (Faithful Darkness/Ruined Soul) who takes over for the departed Roland Johannsson.

With a sense for overwhelming hooklines and sweet sentiments, the creamy guitars celebrate themselves on "And The Battle Royal." In terms of self-fulfilling songwriting both vocalists, Richard Sjunnesson and Jonathan Thorpenberg build up a perfect symbiosis of brutal shouts and huge melodies! Stompy Industrial is gilded in heavy-handed synthesizers as a battle trophy.

Richard Sjunnesson commented: ""Instrumentally 'Legendary' was among the first batch of songs written for the album. We did however not select it for the "Brotherhood" EP, thus it became a bit of an underdog track during the entire process. But as everything came together and the mix of the album eventually showed up there was no denying this was one insanely hooky and accessible track, thus the fate of this song turned from a filler to a potential single. The word "Legendary" sung in the chorus, with its impressive vocal harmonies, might very well be one of my favorite moments of the album. The melodies are simply too hard to resist! Lyrically it's a conceptual track and is dealing with the past trilogy of albums and their achievements in retrospective. There's perfect vocal synergy and really catchy instrumental work. In regards to all this; it couldn't make me happier than to present it as the first song out from 'And The Battle Royale.'"

The track listing for the album is:

1. Death's Sting
2. The Heartbleed Bug
3. Legendary
4. Dark Metamorphosis
5. A Link to the Past
6. Anchor Stone (of the World)
7. Manipulate Fear

The Unguided Announces New Vocalist, Album

Former guitarist and singer Roland Johannsson has decided to leave The Unguided, and now the band has brought on new frontman Jonathan Thorpenberg.

After having released a 2-track EP in December of last year, it's time to get ready for the full-length studio album to follow. Please welcome "And The Battle Royale" - scheduled for a worldwide November 10th 2017 release via Napalm Records!

Richard Sjunnesson states: "We've without doubt sacrificed our five souls into this one. Everyone knew it would be a career defining record after the departure of our highly acclaimed brother and we had no intensions to disappoint our fans nor ourselves writing and record this dynamic monster with innovative producer Dino Medanhodzic. Everyone indeed brought their absolute A-game on this record and Jonathan over performed in every possible way whilst also bringing something completely new to the table. A table which much urgently needed it I'd say. Come November and the battle royale will make or break you!"

The Unguided Commences "Operation: E.A.E."

Swedish modern metal act The Unguided just issued the new release "Lust and Loathing" this past Friday (Feb. 26th) via Napalm Records. Today the band has teamed up with Metal Underground.com to present the second music video for the release - "Operation: E.A.E."

"Lust and Loathing," the third full length release, boasts melodic and goosebump-inducing powerplay. Once you get past the harsh melodic death metal exterior, epic clean vocals and catchy keyboard tones await! Dynamic and strong songwriting with that special Scandinavian „je ne sais quoi“, massive production, and delicate guitar solos turn "Lust And Loathing" into the best gem The Unguided`s discography has yet to offer!

Vocalist Richard Sjunnesson had this to say about the song and video: "'Operation: E.A.E.' was the natural choice when we decided to record a music video in a live environment. Blatantly one of the most energy surging songs on 'Lust and Loathing'! It's all about keeping your hope close at heart and just give everything you got in hours of great distress. The music video is brought to you by the very talented team; 11 Frames Productions (Betrayer of The Code, Inception & Eye of The Thylacine) and once again they shine and really flex their muscles! Everything is filmed during a Swedish hometown gig of the band, during December (2015), in the small west coast city of Falkenberg. Anyone that attended the show can surely agree; that the atmosphere and intensity of the evening is captured in this clip. Love to see you all at the upcoming 'Lust and Loathing in Europe' tour!!!"

The track listing for the album is:

1. Enraged (see music video here)
2. The Worst Day (Revisited) (song streaming here)
