Underoath Disbanding, Announces Farewell Tour And Anthology Album
Christian metalcore band Underoath is formally announcing plans to disband following the band's 15-year career. “It’s sad to say that we feel like it’s time to close this chapter, but we have never seen things more clearly,” says vocalist Spencer Chamberlain. “These have been the best years of my entire life, and I owe that to every single person who ever supported this band along the way. This wasn’t a quick decision by any means. It’s just time for us to move on.”
The Tampa, Florida-based group released seven albums in total – including the Gold-certified mid-2000s releases "They're Only Chasing Safety" and "Define the Great Line" – that collectively yielded Grammy and Dove Award nominations and total sales in excess of 1.3 million units.
Underoath will cap its run with the release of a career retrospective album, "Anthology 1999-2013" this coming November 6th on Solid State Records. With tracks culled from the 1999 debut, "Act of Depression," through 2010’s "Ø (Disambiguation)," the "Anthology 1999-2013" release is an essential collection of songs that celebrates the evolution of the band. The release also gives fans one last chance to hear newly recorded material in the form of new tracks “Sunburnt” and “Unsound,” recorded with longtime producer Matt Goldman.
"Over the past decade or so of our lives, we have been able to live a dream traveling the world, playing music that excites us, and meeting more amazing people than we could have ever fathomed," says keyboardist Chris Dudley. "This couldn't be a more bittersweet moment for us. We have accomplished more, met more friends, seen more places and have just done more than we could have ever imagined, and we really wanted to just go out on the highest note possible. That's why we have put together a group of great friends and musicians for what will be our final tour ever. We are taking every moment of this tour as an opportunity to say goodbye to you all, as well as celebrate what has taken place over all these years. The love we have and the debt of gratitude that we owe to all of you is not able to be measured in any way."
That farewell tour will commence in 2013 with further details to be announced next week. “We don’t take this very lightly and it’s heartbreaking for all of us,” Chamberlain says of the band’s announcement, “but all good things must come to an end. We love all of you and hope to see you again soon.”
The anthology track listing is:
1. Sunburnt
2. Unsound
3. In Division

It is very sad to hear about them breaking up for good. They were and still will be very inspirational to many people including myself. I stuck with them even through member changes. It's always nice to see a band break the mold. Anyway, as far as the negative comments go, it's not our fault your CD players in your cars are stuck on Pantera.

Here in Montana we've got the Hutterites, who all dress old timey and live in a religious commune for the tax breaks on their farms - but they still walk around with cell phones, laptops, GPS units in their cars, etc. so I'll give credit where credit is due. At least the Amish don't half-ass that sh**.

the amish are pretty rugged, but its those polygamists metalheads you got to worry about.
you usually find them at demonhunter/garage bands like them gigs, but then you'll see them at a newsboys or mercy me type of show incesting their seeds of brainwashing into every woman that'll give them 5 seconds.
requesting anyone who witnesses this to please step in and stop the insanity.
Btw, i did see underoath live once a few years ago with as i lay dying, not into there music but did put on a decent live show.

HAHAHAHA It's so funny to me coming across americans that diss other nations as lower than themselves, yet who's debt is larger that the worlds? who's fatty percentage is higher than the rest of the worlds? America is 'NUMBA ONE!!' in a lot of things, none of them good. Canada is #1 in a lot of things, most of ours is good. Like Hockey, beer, prog metal, taking over battle tactics other countries can't handle (Vimy Ridge WWI, Canadian Commandos that found the weak spot for D-Day). I just don't know why americans find it in their brains that it makes sense to rip on other countries, when their own sucks soooo badly...

This is unbelievably upsetting, Underoath's music has been the soundtrack to my life. It's hard to imagine them no longer making music. But you'd have to know sometime, they can't do this forever. One of the biggest upsets in music, going to miss them like crazy :(
