Progressive metal veterans Dream Theater have finally announced the replacement for drummer Mike Portnoy, who left the group last year. Taking his place behind the drum kit will be Mike Mangini, who has previously played for Steve Vai, Annihilator and Extreme, amongst others. The third documentary clip revealing the new drummer can be found here.
Vocalist James LaBrie stated the following: "This is one of the most important decisions in our career and sorry to have to make you wait and I'm sure it's been extremely stressful. Nonetheless, we have some news for you and we would like to welcome you to the family."
Dream Theater also posted two previous documentary clips from the drummer auditioning process, which can be found here and at this location.

I have to admit I'm quite disappointed that it isn't Marco Minneman. I absolutely love his playing and I think he would do an excellent job with the band, but Mangini definitely seemed like a pretty good fit for the band in watching the auditions. Either way, those guys had a pretty tough decision to make.
