As part of the ongoing celebration of their 20th anniversary, Swedish progressive metallers Opeth will release live footage and audio from the band's recent performance at London's Royal Albert Hall. "In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall" is due on September 21st via Roadrunner Records.
The performance at the Royal Albert Hall (recorded on April 5, 2010) includes two sets, the first consisting of the band performing 2000's "Blackwater Park" in its entirety, and the second, a chronologically arranged selection of material from the rest of Opeth's catalogue, totaling almost three hours of music.
Thinking back to the concert, frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt says "Opeth had a magical night playing the Royal Albert Hall. It was a dream come true, and now afterwards, it still feels like a dream. We got it all on film, and this, our third live recording and DVD, might be my personal favourite. One couldn't help to think of all the fantastic artists that played there over the years. Looking back at this night of celebration brings me fond memories of our 20th anniversary — this package is the delayed birthday present."

This is awesome. I went to the LA show they did for their 20th. I gotta say, their first set with Blackwater Park in its entirety was absolutely unbelievably outstanding to hear. Song selections for their second set was fantastic as well, especially Harlequin Forest. Wasn't expecting that one!

@eggnog Yeah I was at that show too in the mezzanine! That show ruled though I would have changed their setlist silghtly. Harlequin, BW, Advent, DF, and Hope Leaves were definite highlights but they could have done without Wreath which I found to be quite boring. Would have also been nice to hear Burden or Porcelain instead of LE. Still doesn't take away from the fact that it was one of the best shows I've seen!

This is epic news.
I have every Opeth cd / dvd to date and will def. be buying the most complete version of this new live cd / dvd / LP!
I went to their 20th anniversary concert in Paris, France including the soundcheck and meet&greet (plus awesome goody bag! :) I must say, out of all the Opeth concerts I've been to (and lucky for me I've had my fair share of them) this takes the cake by far.
What an epic performance of the (imho) best prog. metal band ever EVER!
Opeth, for me, is everything I could ever want in a band. There is seriously not one song I dislike and that, in my eyes, is ... well... damn freaking awesome! :D
I listen to and talk about Opeth so much and with such fervour it sometimes pisses off my mates tho... ah well :D

Must have this. I only want the audio though. I will actually pay for it as opposed to DL, because Opeth is one of the few that can have my money.
