Avenged Sevenfold has posted a preview online of their new single "Nightmare." The preview track can be heard below. Avenged Sevenfold also recently announced that Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy would be joining them on their remaining tour dates this year to fill in after the death of drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan.

Of course they want to be paid for their music and performances since no one would want to do these things for free. But a fine line is drawn that pertains to HOW a band uses their MUSIC QUALITY to earn those millions.
Like you said, Metallica is a good example of this debacle. Their early material brought in an original and fresh sound for the metal community. However, they went downhill as they decided to change their own sound into something that will appeal to the MASSES! Instead of sticking with making music that would come straight from the heart, they decided on utilizing their skills to satisfy the majority. Avenged Sevenfold have followed this same crap cycle.
That certainly DOES NOT make me moist!
A true band makes their mark (and money) for creating material that comes from their own minds and not from continuous recycled ideas that are already out in the open.

Which is totally incorrect. Metallica changed their sound because it WAS what was coming straight from the heart. It just happened that that sound was also not metal, and metal fans hated them for that. I say good on Metallica for making L & RL even if they pale in comparison to RTL.

The only saving grace in that clip was the fact that Mike Portnoy was smart enough to bring is own drum tone to the album. Just to change up the mood on here a little bit, ill tell a story about meeting Mr. Shadows (lol) and some of his other Rockcore buddies. While spending a weekend in Atlantic City for one of my buddies 21st birthday almost 2 years ago, in the summer of 2008, Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine were playing the House Of Blues in our hotel (The Borgata), so after drinking/gambling all night, we decide to go out back where the tour buses are parked to see if we can meet either band and instigate some music debates. My one buddy is a total fanboy of both bands (he's the one of us who ISN'T a musician) and got all excited and got his camera out. So after spending 2 hours out back of the hotel with about 300 Scene kids waiting for anyone to appear, at 1 in the morning we see the bands sneaking out the back, with a bunch of groupies dressed like flavor of love girls, onto they're respective buses. The ONLY people who came out were M Shadows and bullets bass player, and they basically told everyone sorry but everyone else was too drunk to meet all they're fans who were waiting hours for them. Half the kids cried and left, and i always though that was d*** as hell to do to your fans, no matter how much i hate scene kids. Anyway, M Shadows actually ended up being a real easy to talk to and nice guy believe it or not, but i was shocked at how small he was. They make him look like a pro wrestler or some sh** in pictures and on TV, but Im 6'2, 190 lbs and i was a little bigger than him.
Im rambling now, so anyway, preview clips are suppose to make people want to listen to your album. Was this the best clip they had to offer up from a whole album? Either way, i don't think anything would make me want to listen to this album.

I must admit , it wasn't half bad.
I liked the intro, it was pretty interesting.
The rest of the song was a bit of a flot for me tho.

i've been playing, recording, performing and touring for many years in several metal and punk bands. yeah the music business sucks and i hate it. do you care? probably not. ive seen hundreds of metal shows, and done sound and backline for tons of them. does that make my opinion more important? no.
my point is pretty much that it doesn't matter. i've loved metal since i was a kid in the eighties. i've seen super heavy bands that were f-ing terrible and i've seen little screamo kids rock out as hard as slayer. in the end you just gotta do what you do...and whatever it is do it well or don't do it at all.
what everybody needs is another dime to come along and breathe some life back into this scene
