Ah, oh well. I don't care for gloves, but like Better than this and The Conformist and most of the album. I guess if you don't like the style, you don't like it, but they aren't your typical simplistic breakdown-heavy deathcore and use a number of vocal styles (some of which may grate I realize).

I like Salt The Wound. To a lot of the "metal purists" out there they probably suck but their first two albums were very promising. Hey deathbringer, check out the new album, Ares. It has a few very good tracks, including the last one "Take A Bow." Grrrreat stuff

Why is it that only diehard deathcore fans hate "putting tags on things"? Nu-metal fans do the same thing. If you like the f***ing genre, then admit you like it. Dont pretend it doesnt exist.
If someone hates Grindcore, why the f*** do I care? I like it, I tell people I like it, and I explain to them in detail why I think their opinion is unjustified. Stand up for what you listen to, or stop listening to it.

Alright let's put it this way...
METAL IS METAL.
Who f***ing cares about stereotyping every single kind?!
"Black metal", "Death metal", "Metalcore" who gives a sh**?!
Metal is metal regardless.
I'm german and norwegian but I go around saying I'm white...cause I am.
A f***in black person can go around saying they're nigerian and mongolian but guess what? THEY'RE STILL BLACK.
Calm the f*** down and enjoy your music and stop bashing bands you don't like and people who like bands you don't like.

Ok then, consider why we actually have sub-genres in the first place. If every type of metal was simply called metal, it'd be alot harder to find bands you'd like. If you were an Exodus fan for example and someone said "There's this other cool metal band called Bring Me The Horizon" you'd be like, "Cool, I like metal." Then you'd probably find out you didn't like them. By having sub-genres it makes it alot easier for people. Another example being that fans of The Obsessed would be likely to check out Orange Goblin because they're the same sub-genre.
Finally...
"stop bashing bands you don't like and people who like bands you don't like."
No.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard lol.
I'm 16 f***ing years old dude. I grew up with metal. I go to every single show in my town and I'm know as my school's metalhead. I know my sh**.
Metal is metal regardless.
The only reason they have the subgenres is BECAUSE it's easier to find their sh**. Doesn't mean they're any less metal.
Just cause they have different sounds (Hence Lamb of God and Bring Me The Horizon) doesn't mean that one is metal and the other is something else. Sure, you can call BMTH deathcore, or metalcore or whatever but in the end, it's still connected to metal.
You get any of their music off the internet (iTunes and other legal sites) and they put it in a "Metal" genre.

What the Jesus f***ing Christ are you on about? iTunes and the like aren't gonna waste their time entering in every different type of sub-genre? Much like how by and large, punk and all of it's sub-genres like Oi and Hardcore are only gonna be listed as punk or maybe alternative.
I don't care if you're sixteen and listen to metal. When I was sixteen I was listening to Onslaught, Exodus, Testament and Cathedral but I didn't go around pretending to be an expert on metal like you're doing. More to the point, at what moment did I say deathcore isn't metal? It's more metal than it is anything else. I think it sucks sh** and I have the right to say that. But whether you like it or not, it IS a sub-genre and it's one alot of people don't take kindly too. Just because something is considered metal, doesn't mean I have to like it, or keep my mouth shut because I don't like it. If you don't like people expressing their opinion, that's your problem but I'm very happy to openly state I don't like a band or even (god forbid) try and engage in a civilised conversation with you.
If you wanna talk about this properly, I'm more than happy to do so, but don't be coming on a website giving it "I'm sixteen and I know my sh**" because it makes you look like an ignorant tool.

The people who get upset about the subgenres are the ones who can't tell the difference or, in the case of metalcore or deathcore (or nu-metal), don't want to be seen as following the latest trendy trend, even if they are the same style of music.
There you've got one person saying "Metal is Metal" and the next saying metalcore and deathcore are not metal. If you let the average non-metalhead hear them, they'd say it's all the same noise.
But let's look at it this way: Hardcore is considered the combination of metal and punk, and metalcore is basically a more metallic version of hardcore (metal and hardcore combined), so metalcore is 3/4 metal. The problem is that these purists are largely in the same vein as the "don't want to be seen as trendy" crowd in the first topic. Those people are not nearly as quick to dismiss the many progressive bands that blend in jazz or other non-metal elements? How about folk metal? industrial metal? Stoner metal blending blues? Gothic metal? What really IS metal if it's not classic metal, thrash, pure death or black metal? That's a weak, limited view of such a diverse genre of music.

^The master hath spoken.
I laughed at this: "I'm 16 years old...I grew up with metal" - dude, you're STILL growing up. Try listening to what older, more experienced people are saying to you and you'll learn a few things about the field of music you're apparently an expert in. I'm 22 and I learn things every day from this crowd. Certainly wouldn't call myself an expert.
Diamond, give the kid a break, tho. I mean, he/she HAS actually got a point. Metal -IS- metal... and deathcore is deathcore and metalcore is metalcore and thrash is thrash and folk metal is folk metal and etc ad nauseum/infinitum.

Sure, the bands don't get together and create the labels. The media and/or fans are often in the position to coin the terms. When you see one band that uniquely blends death metal and metalcore, there's no need to label. When you see 20 then it becomes clear there is a commonality to the sound and calling it something makes sense to describe that sound as a whole. It's human nature and as described above, it's also useful in most cases.
Now, what's trendy or cool in these new sounds is most certainly media-fueled. Often the subgenre labels are not even used by the mainstream media because the distinction is lost on them, but they still promote the image of the latest trends.

I don't see how we were freaking out about sub-genres. You were the one who felt the need to use caps lock and swear alot. We enjoy our lives, someone who comes back to a disagreement and tells people to get a life is pretty sad when you think about. Now go away.
37. writes:
The problem Miranda, is that we get someone who yells about how "subgenres are stupid" once every week or so. It gets kindof annoying when you have to explain something 30 thousand times.
They exist. they are valid.
and if you want to go with your "Black people are black people" and "White people are white people" argument, try telling Jamaicans that they are exactly the same as Aborigines. Try telling a British man that he is a filthy American. If you dont get into a fistfight, you will at least see a lot of headshaking and raised eyebrows.
As you can see, the analogies can go on forever....
