Nothingface Reunion Doesn't Work Out, Disbands Once Again

Band Photo: Nothingface (?)
Last week, on Thursday and Friday, August 13-14, a series of posts were made by Nothingface members on their MySpace blog before being removed. Tom Maxwell apparently fired the first shot (thanks Blabbermouth for Tom's message, as it was nowhere to be found anymore):
"In the past couple weeks, I've decided that I cannot move forward or continue to work with NOTHINGFACE anymore. This has nothing to do with my NF bandmates Bill Gaal or Chris Houck, but directly with band vocalist Matt Holt. It's in my belief/opinion that Matt no longer has the passion, drive or artistic capabilities to continue in a musical direction. His lack of work ethic and desire to be part of the writing process or to track vocals for the music that has been written has pushed me to make the decision to not be part of NF any longer. It's a shame and I sincerely apologize to all the fans that have stood by us waiting for new music from the original lineup. I don't want to point fingers or lay blame but in fairness to myself, Bill and Chris we tried very hard with the best intentions to bring you all killer new music. Unfortunately, and with regret, I do not think that it's going to happen.
"I just want to say thank you and express my gratitude to all the NOTHINGFACE fans that have supported us over the years. Hailz to you all!!!!"
Bill Gaal responded with this:
"Well, we gave it our best shot, but Nothingface is done. I think Tom said it all in his posting, so there's not much more I'm going to say right now. We're all at different points in our lives, and have all approached music with different levels of ambition and desire over the years. Sometimes those desires match up, but and at this point it just isn't working. This has always been a band with very strong personalities, and we've been able to work through our differences in the past, but those days are over.
"I came back into this band last year with the intention of writing a great record with the original lineup, and I'm sorry that it will not be happening. I apologize to all of the fans out there who stuck by us through this process and who were excited to hear a new record. I was excited to!
"Although I do not think there will ever be a reunion between the 4 of us ever again, there may be projects that some of us collaborate on in the future.
"Thanks again to all of the Nothingface fans all around the world, your support has been unwavering over the years and I've always appreciated that."
Chris Houck made a forum post on Friday in response to the discussions sparked by those short-lived MySpace blogs, which seems to reinforce that the band is done.
"As happens in life...there's always 2 sides (or 4 if you're in a band...lol...) to everything... so I think it's really unfair to point the finger at one person or another. We've all tried with the best of intentions to make a great record for us first as friends and as a band that have gone through so much together... and through it all we wanted to give you guys another amazing album or tour or whatever we could... in some ways we felt we owed it to you guys after all these years. In response to the last post...we never lied about anything whatsoever...we've been working on these songs and had plans to finish them and release them....these things just happen.
"It's sad to think that NF is coming to an end but the reality is that I feel like we're all just getting started. There's gonna be alot of music coming from all of us in the future which I hope will make up for some of this. You'll probably see different incarnations of all of us working together as well... so musically we're by no means done.
"Also I don't plan on taking the boards down so please feel free to come and enjoy it. I don't want these boards to be about all the things we could've done... but what we did do as a band. Also we still have plans on releasing the demos every week and hopefully we'll do some special stuff in the future just for the fans which we've planned for awhile which will be really awesome.
"I'm really proud of what we created and I feel so lucky to have helped create a band that made some sort of difference in people's lives...that means more to me than I could ever explain. This isn't the last you've heard of any of us. So for now check out the new In for the Kill record (which I just did with Bill and it kicks so much ass) the new Knives Out record and the new Hell Yeah next year...
"I can't thank you enough for always being there to support us!"
The Washington, D.C. based metalers re-released their long sought after original debut album from 1995 this past spring. Nothingface had announced their reunion in early 2008 and entered the studio early in 2009. The band had released a number of demos from those recording sessions to this time.
The band members will presumably continue on with their other projects, including HellYeah, Knives Out!, and In For The Kill.

Well that sure lasted! Bit of a shame, those guys weren't too bad when they were in good form. Oh well. Frankly, I'd rather see Spineshank back at it. I wonder what those guys are up to... weren't they searching for a vocalist for like, years now??
And what does one call this, anyway? A redisbanding??

AAAAWW maaan!! f***in bummer!! These guys were f***in awesome. I mean, just listen to the 'Skeletons' record and you'll know what I'm talkin about. They were like a nu-metal Meshuggah. Sucks that the vocalist turned out to be a douche, 'cause his vocals absolutely KILL both on cd and live........
Is it too late to hope for a re-reunion? :)

doubleb : at least ur NOT known as the birthplace of the stupid emo scene and gay a$$ screamo genre >.> that's rite, i'm from miami and that's almost ALL we have and that we're known for, in rock at least. as everyone else knows, also, miami's just known for rap, raggaeton and all kinds of stupid a$$ and senseless music. thankfully we at least got TRIVIUM!! \m/

Why does everyone always talk about Skeletons like it was some masterpiece? It had some good songs but it was the worst album they had, it wasn't BAD or anything but it just wasn't anywhere near as good as Audioguide. Given that they got the old group back I was hoping for something similar to at least Pacifier (Bit more punky) but the demos they were putting out showed very little promise to a good album. Then again if they were having trouble getting everyone on the same page in the studio then that would explain it. It would also explain how bland Holt's vox were on their new stuff.
As a long time fan it sucks seeing such a talented band break up over something as stupid as pure laziness.

I thought Violence was their best. I knew this was coming, Matt has had a horrible time with drug problems, so obviously they would be no more. Knives Out! are awesome but seriously, HellYeah was the biggest damn disappointment ever. Pantera- awesome, Nothingface-great, Mudvayne-sweet, Hellyeah-nasty crap. It was bad on so many levels. The only reason I listened was out respect for Vinnie Paul.
